Hey, well having remembered that I played a Castlevania game as a kid, I am trying hard to remember which one it was I played.
Although, I do remember a particular track (if I listen to it, I will remember) and I was wondering if you could help me.
It was on the NES, and the theme was I think Dracula's castle (there's moving platforms and heaps of baddies and what not) and after defeating Dracula you get his eye or something (there were five bosses if I remember correctly).
Also it was the one where during the day, you'd get civilians walking through the towns, and at night there would be skeleton warriors instead, and there'd be these fish men that jump out of the water.
Please tell me this is a Castlevania game, lol. Otherwise I'll never hear that castle theme again. :p
Cheers!

Sounds like Castlevania II: Simon's Quest
-
Yes! That's the one Mike! Ha ha that was quick, thanks!
Argh, this game was so hard for me as a kid, but looking at the gameplay, this guy makes it look easy, lol.
I never understood why the platform at the beginning would go invisible? I think it was only visible at night or something?
The first song rings a bell too, and yeah, I like how the pause sound effect is the same as Contra/Probotector (being Konami).
Yet I never understood why in the first game, the health meter looked the same as Tecmo's Ninja Gaiden/Shadow Warriors series.
Then again, I see some Zelda 2 style elements in this second game (unless this came first).
Thanks for the link. If I am brave, I could possibly find the roms to the Castlevania NES games, and try and clock them; ending the curse once and for all!

To be honest, I really thought that said "Questions" so I thought it was another "Ask YD" thread.
I am relieved! Glad to hear you found the game you were looking for.
-
Haha no worries Korby. Nah, I think after asking YD so many questions, I've run out of things to ask, lol.
Yeah that was quick of Mike to find the game I was after. It took like 5 mins. after me posting.
Well now that my question is answered, perhaps this can be a general Castlevania thread? (or alternatively, a thread where people ask others what game it was that they played so long ago, but forget the name of).
I know there are other games I've been having trouble remembering the names of, so when I do remember something, I'll post it here.
In the mean time, what made Castlevania a memorable game for you guys? For me, it was how bloody hard the game was, lol. In a way the series has been personally black-listed, which is bad because I could be missing out on great games. To me the first thing I remember when someone mentions the game, it's "f**king hard game" lol. But... does winning necessarily make a game better? I never could clock the old Mega Man games, but I had fond memories of them (despite they too were hard at times, lol).
What do you guys think? :)

Most memorable thing about castlevania? well I only played 2 games. Simons Quest and Circle of the moon for GBA. I always loved how random blocks would hold stuff. and that even when your certain youve discovered everything, *whips wall* oh look a hearts up.
I also never really got why hearts were the currency/ammo of the realm...
Is there a reason?
-
Hmm, I don't think I've played any apart from Simon's Quest.
Not sure why hears are the currency, but looking at the video again, it seems very Adventures of Link inspired (just saying, lol).
There was definitely a lot to discover, and unfortunately coz I only hired the game, I never got far.
Was with all the Mega Man games too, I only hired them for a week or so, so I couldn't get too far.
Had I have owned these games, it could have been different.
Thank goodness for emulators these days! :) Let's you relive old games, or play ones you missed out on.
