Title: Mega Man Final Project

(Robot Master Designs so far)

This is a Mega Man fangame that might be rather neat.

The bosses:
(click to show/hide)

The story:
(click to show/hide)

I am making the music myself. I'll be taking the hack route, and simply make 8-bit versions of other musics. Hey, it worked for No Constancy.

I will need help with level design and coding, as well as sprites.

The soundtrack is now more or less complete! Though, I don't have the boss intro, castle intro, or boss defeated themes, I got everything else!

And it's in version 4 too! (http://www.mediafire.com/?idknzwdqmi3kcdh)

List of what needs to be done-
    -Design-
>Paradox Man
>Acoustic Man (full spritesheet)
>Shatter Man
>Cloak Man
>Unknown Man
>Warp Man
>Gun Man
>Nuclear Man
>Lantern Man
>Dynamite Woman
>Auto Man
>Superconductor Man
>Medley
>Final Boss (must look a bit like Mega Man)

Oh look, weapon colors!
<Flaming Ice, Acoustic Blast, Glass Shard, Invisibility Cloak, Antimatter Bomb, Space Warp, Rapid Gun, Nuclear Sludge, Spot Flame, Dynamity Lob, Frozen Lightning, Auto Ram, Medley Beam>

I will post more as the project develops.

Oh, look, it's Paradox Man.
I decided to give him a buster shaped like an hourglass and a clock on his chestplate because of the whole time paradox thing. Also, might I suggest that his weapon be Za Warudo?
Title: Re: Mega Man Final Project
Post by: -FiniteZero- on March 12, 2011, 02:51:57 AM
Well, I already have Glitch Man, whos attack is pretty much Za Wardo.
And, well, yeah there is "time-paradox", his stage probably would have nothing to do with time, thus neither would his theme.
Good, design though. Getting rid of the time theme, and adding something else might work. Maybe...
...
...
...
...Well, damn, I can't think of anything...
Title: Re: Mega Man Final Project

I'll get back to you on that one. Anyway, I was thinking something like this for Glitch Man.
Since he's Glitch Man, he has lag and has broken parts strewn this way and that.
Probably just design 0.1, but it'll do for now.

Interesting idea.
Maybe, in his pose, or during some frames, his graphics could look glitched.

Post by: easyaspi on March 12, 2011, 04:21:51 AM
That's what I'm thinking. Have some of his body parts move between running poses...
But, then again, you're directing the game.
Also, I'll start composing the music soon, just tell me what sort of idea you have for each master and I'll get on it.
But I'll be gone this weekend, so I might be around. MIGHT.

Oh, in that case, the sprite works fine.

Alright, for the music...

Paradox Man: Theme would be calm, and somewhat soothing, to contrast with the hectic stage.

Accoustic Man: Try for something upbeat, like Stage 7 of kevviiinnn's work (you can listen here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HrUjvvjFXjk&feature=mfu_in_order&list=UL)

Shatter Man: Something "crystally", of course.

Cloak Man: Something like: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YCrmFOwT90M&feature=mfu_in_order&list=UL.

Unknown Man: Something like: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YCrmFOwT90M&feature=mfu_in_order&list=UL, although it works so well I just want to use that.

Warp Man: Something Space-y. Doesn't need to sound "warped", because the stage simply takes place in a space station.

Gun Man: Something "war-like" with gun effects in it.

Nuclear Man: Something like: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZbSOpmx-uSY&feature=related

Glitch Man: Something sounding glitchy.

Lantern Man: See http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wXhowJnhCi8&feature=mfu_in_order&list=UL

Dynamite Woman: Up to you.

Auto Man: Something fast-paced with a heavy beat.

Superconductor Man: Something that is a combination of electricity and ice.

Wily themes: up to you.

Well, Finite, I can't come up with any good original song ideas, so is it okay with you if I just convert songs from other games into 8-bit? If that's okay with you? Please?

Alright. I'm looking at:
Microsoft Fury3 and/or Hellbender.

kevvviiinnn already has alot of 8-bit music made, so I'm not afraid of using that.
I also refer you to:

Well, I did a bit of work on your "Final Boss" request.  Some color inversions and stealing from other palettes later...
NEGA MAN IS BORN! *DUN DUN DUN*

I recommend saving it and zooming in, so you can see it more clearly.  Obviously, he doesn't look like much right now, but it's certainly an idea to play around with!  We could have him with several different forms, each one emulating a weapon from the past games...but I'm getting ahead.  Do you like Nega Man's base sprite?

That's do quite nicely.

Ya know, I was playing Wily Wars again, and I thought, "Why aren't any fangames in this style?" so, I now have a poll about whether to have it 8-bit or not.

Hey Finite, well, I made the sprite sheet for Warpman, if you're going to make like Willy Wars, I can remake the sheet.

(click to show/hide)

EDIT: Warpman's shot animation. Each frame has a 0,15 second time speed. I made it a circle so you don't have to make it downwards for when Warpman shifts gravity;

Title: Re: Mega Man Final Project
Post by: -FiniteZero- on April 07, 2011, 02:30:19 AM
That will work fine.
I will only have this in Wily Wars style if the poll says so.

On a random note, why hasn't anyone created a Wily Wars 2, with the Mega Man 4-6 games?

^Agree, BTW, here is the tileset for Warpman followed by the animation of the tiles.

Actually, the spikes don't need an animation.

EDIT: Megaman using Space Warp.

That has to be one of the laziest fan-made robot master sprites ever.

I don't mind people working off an already existing robot master as a base, as long as you can't see the resemblance in the final product. This, however...

Edited Warpman, I added some sprites and fixed the shooting sprite, also changed the background color (whatever). And edited Warpman's tileset, I won't add animations this time. Also, some parts of the stage side scrolled. (The stage isn't finished yet!)

Sorry to be nitpicky, but:
1) The stage tiles need more detail
2) Warp Man needs a complete overhaul graphically.
Title: Re: Mega Man Final Project
Post by: darkmath on April 08, 2011, 12:01:54 PM
I'm new at making/editing sprites, so yeah. I'll try to make more details and complete with the missing sprites the Tileset and I'll add/remove some things on Warpman.

I created a sprite of Unknown Man myself. It could use a little improvement, though.

I just came up for the data CD of Shard Man:

Shatter Man was created as a prototype by Rythem. He is able to shatter his body at will, and reconstruct himself. He can use this ability to act like a frag grenade. Personality wise, he is quite flexable, but suffers from indecisiveness.

"How about 52 shard pickup?"

Good Point: Flexable
Bad point: Indecisive
Like: High places
Dislike: Suprises

Hate to crash this, but there's already a fangame with the name Mega Man F. (F is Final, duh.)

This proves my point. It's being made by Mistergambit (http://mistergambit64.deviantart.com/).

It's obviously the final. Why else you would use F for the title? And the game is suppose like the last Mega Man game. Ask him.

Do you have any idea how many Megaman (Number) there are?
Hell, there's a lot more than one "Prince of Persia" game just titled that.
It doesn't matter.

Sorry for the doublepost, but update: I finished three additional themes!

Superconductor Man's theme (http://www.mediafire.com/?p4cie8cbs5p0nfs)

Unknown Man's theme (http://www.mediafire.com/?4bh3hc5q654mnlz)

Warp Man's theme (http://www.mediafire.com/?oh41y7y1su7m9ay)

Thoughts?

you can make an engine even without sprites you know.
one of shigsys techniques is to use just a grey square as the character at first, and when it feels right to control, THEN they add the fancy 3d models or sprites!

I'm taking a game design course this summer. I'll probably start then, or start a game there and base Final off of it.

I don't think making an Megaman Engine is easy if you wanted to make it completely based on it, even if you had a bunch of programing experience and stuff. Hence, why I used an Megaman Engine to get started.

Uh. N64Mario's Engine is made in Multimedia Fusion 2. Not Game Maker, unless you are going to painfully convert the MMF2 Coding into GM Coding, which means you need to know how to use both GM and MMF2.
If you can successfully do that, I'd be ripping my hair off.

And also, even if you managed to convert it. There's still a bunch of things needed to be done, the engine is missing a few important gimmicks.

So I take it you used Fusion? Then why does the Mania icon have the Gamemaker gear?

Kurobit's Engine (Mania uses this engine, but majorly modified) = GM
N64Mario's Engine = MMF2

I actually asked him to send me his engine. You could ask him throughout email, here's his email address: kurobit@ymail.com

I don't have the original version of his engine anymore. It's been overwritten with my stuff.

As a member of The Music Lobby, KuroBit's very original engine build is lying there. Ask Kacke or me.

Also, Tesserex's engine is much more flexible IMO.
