if you live in UK, you'd know that the "GoCompare" commercial is one of the worst things we have ever produced as a species

There are few good commercials that come on nowadays.

They usually come on during the Super Bowl. The Old Spice ones are great, and people are starting to copy them. The question is, is this a good thing or a bad thing?

I actually pay a lot of attention to commercials. While there are many I really like, there are a few kinds that I really can't stand,

1. The ones where the super smart wife has to show her dumb husband how to do something. They're a little offensive... At least I think so.

2. When they tell you how "sexy" the product is or that it will make you super attractive. It's a little embarrassing to watch these around family and children... Plus it's just really annoying.

3. Video game commercials that go on about to awesome graphics/gameplay. What happened to the good old days when we at least got a short explanation of the story?

Hmm... The commercials here in Holland dont seem too special. Though there's a show that sometimes comes up called World's funniest commercials, lives up to its name alright, people make some weird and amusing commercials. Too bad like 95% of those commercials only appear in other countries.

1: Well we men do make a lot of sexist jokes on TV anyway...

2: Yeah, either way we humans are NEVER happy with out appearance, so they use that to sell stuff to make us improve our appearance yet only the idiots buy it.

3: Market has changed, people want HD graphics, they could hardly care less about the game sometimes. Examples being if people saw MM8BDM they would say it sucks because of the 8-bit graphics, same with the earlier FPS games on PC :(

fun fact: they have always gone on about the graphics. do you not remember the bit wars?
and surely the whole point of a commercial is the show the gameplay, thats like the main part of a game! (unless it's an rpg tee hee hee)

I was showing my friends MineCraft and they were rambling on how about how shit of graphics it is, not even giving it a chance.

Oh, I know that. I just mean, I was watching a bunch of old video game commercials on Youtube a while ago and they were so much more creative... I don't mind showing off the gameplay, but at least tell us a little more about the game.

A few nights ago I saw a commercial for a game and was just a guy shooting stuff for a few seconds, then they showed us the name of the game and it was over. Didn't even tell us the protagonist's name...

to be fair i'd rather see a guy shooting stuff than hear about his name! if the gameplay looks good i'll buy it, and if it has a good story too then thats a bonus!

Well theres 1 commercial that i like.

Theres a guy with a falcon on his shoulder, And near the end the guy says " This isnt a falcon, its a Rock n Roll falcon. " Then the falcon says " ITS GOOD TO BE BACK IN BOSTON YEAAUGH! "

( I live in the U.S and i live in Pensylvania and most Commercials suck here. )

The local commercials are usually the worst.
There are a lot of commercials advertising some new car model. So you'd expect about a minute, explaining all the features and the mileage.
Nope, the locally made car commercials around here are a mere 5 seconds long. They're usually in this format.
"[Spokesman says name of car with a picture of the car present] Don't miss out!"
And then it's over.

There are also many commercials for churches around here, too. I have to ask myself, why would a church advertise? I don't mind the commercials themselves, although some are kinda hard to understand. It's just odd that a church would advertise, I thought they didn't compete for most attenders.

Man I used to religiously wait patiently for the commercials to come up, AND NOT FOR PISS BREAKS(only). I really liked ads then. But now I try to avoid them at all costs.

Here in Florida, some of these local commercials are so darn stupid, they give me a headache.

One of them is Mattress Barn. Trust me on this one, this one REALLY gives me a headache. Usually, they feature a old guy with a mustache and usually a plaid shirt sitting on a mattress, and a very crudely rendered CGI cartoon version of him ("Buddy") about the size of a pencil, with yellow hair and mustache, and a white T-shirt, jeans and shoes (always with an annoying high-pitched voice that sounds like Daffy Duck), and the cartoon explains the blowout sales and stuff, usually ending in some really stupid and random thing (like the cartoon falling off the mattress), and ends with Buddy sleeping in pink pajamas on a cloud, which drifts from right to left, and behind him shows a map of all of the locations, and the Mattress Barn logo with the CG pig with a piece of hay in his mouth (That pig always scared me when I was younger!), and a jingle.

I haven't seen the commercials in a while (I dont watch as much TV as I use to), but I know they are still making them.
