Title: King of the hill gamemode

I just want to make a gamemode cause i need work.

Yes, king of the hill.I'm doin the halo version of the king of the hill.Take control of a point and defend it.I would most likley say this will beome tdm gamemode, but still, it will be crazy for dm.


Since my acs cripting sucks big time, i need an expert who can teach me this.no comment.>_>

If you can get a working KotH mode up and running, I may recreate a couple of KotH maps from TF2 for this. Nucleus and Sawmill comes to mind.

You're gonna need someone who knows a lot of ACS/Decorate and who is willing to put up with you at first though.

You are gonna need a crapload of bridges if you want to recreate Nucleus.

Also, when I thought about a King Of The Hill mode for MM8BDM, I thought that it could instead of replacing DM and TDM replace Posession and Team Posession. I was thinking that a circle would spawn at a random point in the map and if there was only one person (or one team if Team Posession), it would act as if you had gotten the Circuit Board/Hellstone. This would be an easier way to implement a timer and also allow the game mode to be played in any map.

That could work, a very good idea.

And you could hold it for 3-5 secs then you become king

The king would be more powerful though.

The powers, i will think about.

I also remember posting something like this in the 'ideas that come to mind' topic, but I'm not gonna do any work on it, so it's all yours.

Also, I dislike the idea of the 'king' getting any special abilities. Keep it simple.

Also, how does the Doom version work, Mr. Sphere?

Basically there are different areas in a map. In each area, there is a pillar. To bump the pillar, your team claims it. To win, you must claim all the pillers for the persific time limit.
It has messages onscreen to tell you what team owns what part.

Why?The king has too, otherwise the game won't be that fun.You have to work to become king.And besides, if there are alot of players trolling the king, he will be faster to kill.

That sounds a lot like Unreal Tournament's infamous Double Domination. It always goes something like this:

*capture first point*
*shoot shoot shoot kablam*
DEAD
*respawn*
*shoot shoot shoot kablam*
*capture second point*
"Blue Team is dominating!"
"10! 9! 8! 7! 6! 5! 4! 3! 2! 1!"

Seriously, I'd rather see Bombing Run get implemented. Like that'll ever happen

I'd rather see the TF2 version of King of the Hill implemented. In the (symmetrical!) map, there is a central control point. Teams spawn on their own respective sides of the map. To capture the control point you need to have people from one team stand on the point for a certain amount of time, with no enemy team mates present. Mostly standard control point procedure here.

When a team captures a point, a timer starts ticking down. The timer starts at three minutes per team, and starts ticking down towards 0 upon capturing the point.  If the other team would capture the control point during this time, the previous team timer is frozen (not reset).  When either team's timer reaches 0, that team wins. Pretty simple, although probably requires specific maps. (Although CTF maps could probably work for the mode as well.)

Hm...Perhaps for CTF maps, the KOTH control point could replace where the grey flag for 1FlagCTF spawns?

I'd get someone else to do the coding if I were you. Despite my previous Java/C++ skills I have yet to learn Decorate either, but having someone with a pretty good idea of what they're doing is more desirable than what appears to be a first time coder.

Well, i got an idea of how to get the place set up, problem is, it will spawn RAAANNNDOMLY.

Spawning randomly is about the only setup it's going to work with in the vanilla maps. This is why I endorse only using the CTF maps or maps specifically made for the mode, since KotH on the vanilla maps are going to be ridiculously unbalanced.
