Title: First Skin
Post by: Slurrup on September 02, 2011, 05:56:38 AM
G'day everyone. I have played this game for quite a while now, and I noticed I never really got into the community. I thought of making an intro, but I decided to introduce myself another way by making a skin. And so I did. It's my first skin, so criticism would help if it isnt that great. Enjoy :)

Ah, I remember playing with you before. Looking over the sprites, I have no complaints. Though one thing that caught my attention. In the Skin info, it's gender is set to "Male". Isn't Hello Kitty a female? O.o;

Gender does not matter in the slightest when making a skin, so most people don't bother.

Haha, I thought of changing that, but I was afriad it would affect the skin in some sort of way, so I didn't do it out of paranoia xD
I remember playing with you too, and your own personal skin. People making skins as themselves kinda inspired me to make skins myself in some sort of weird way xD

I know, I know. It still rose some questions for me, though.

Anyway, Welcome to the forums. Nice introduction with a skin, too.

Well, gender does have an effect with any obituary that uses genders. Even though we lack them in MM8BDM.

Quick, someone make a weapon with an obituary that uses gender so we can complain!

Hello Kitty saw himself in Gizmo The Cat's Mirror Buster.

Wouldn't that be the player's gender in player settings, and not the skin's gender?
Also, great way to start off on the forums!

Gender for the skin does matter. What if the skin comes with a bot?

Gender for player is determined for the player themselves.
Gender for bots is determined on the bot info.

I could make my gender female and use the Megaman skin, and if I kill myself it would read as "SaviorSword killed herself."
So really, it does not matter.

Actually, I think that's something it would say despite anyone's gender. That, or it really was Hello Kitty's Gender. I did some testing and had sniper joe kill me with the mirror buster while my gender was female. It still said he saw himself. I'll set the gender to female in a bit to test it out and see if it makes a difference.

EDIT: So I changed Hello Kitty's Gender, and it still says himself when killed by the Mirror Buster. Nonetheless, I left her female and now she should be downloadable female XD

Saw "himself" is just in the obituary. It's what it always says when it kills you.

If you really want to check, type "kill" in console.
