Title: Master Server Change(if you can't see servers) *UPDATE 6/16*
Post by: Gummywormz on October 10, 2011, 05:40:00 PM
Skulltag recently moved their master server, causing people to get network.getpackets errors or not see servers at all. This totally not copied guide will show you how to switch over.

SERVER HOSTERS / INTERNAL BROWSER USERS
There are 2 ways to do this. First way is to open your skulltag-username.ini file. If you have any active servers, shut them down. Open said skulltag-username.ini file in notepad and find the following line

Code: [Select]
skulltag_masterip=master.skulltag.net
and change it to

Code: [Select]
skulltag_masterip=master.zandronum.com:15300Save the file and you should be good to go.

DOOMSEEKER USERS

Open doomseeker, go to options then configure. Go to engines, then click on skulltag.

Change the masterserver address box to

Code: [Select]
master.zandronum.com:15300
(http://imageftw.com/uploads/20120616/newnewmaster1.png)

Click apply and then ok.

IDE USERS
Start IDE, go to the options tab. Go to "Master Server Addresses"

Under skulltag change the address to master.zandronum.com:15300.

Click on apply and you should be set.

I did change the master server, and I did restart Doomseeker after all that.

I did the master server change, but I've had a problem.
Only non-megagame.wad servers show up in DoomSeeker. (Doom, doom2, plutonia, etc. are all present; megagame.wad servers are absent)
Any quick fixes? Skulltag is queued, so it's not that.

Same as Solarblast I did the master server thing, it was fixed...for a while then, no servers at ALL.  No Error thing, just...well...no servers, same with doomseeker, it won't work, no servers show up.  Same day too.....coincedence?????

BTW,  whne the issue happened I was playing MM8BDM then it shut off and my screen had the good ol' SkullTag encountered an error thing, I just Xed it out cuz I thought it was because I was on a cheat server and we were fighting singleplayer bosses, so....any help?

@violent_fire: Hi and welcome to Cutstuff Forum!
Which method do you often use to see servers? If you use doomseeker or Internet Doom Explorer, could you check the log?? (in order to discard the possibility that your IP is under a range ban from skulltag master server)
Title: Re: [Guide] Master Server Change (if you can't see servers)

EDIT: NVM!! its working again :D

That seems to happen every once in a while, where the Master Server returns no servers at all, even if it sees 'em.  I chalk it up to random hiccups more than anything.

I still can't see Most Skulltag servers at a relative's house since I must be caught in a range ban or something.

I tried talking to the right people, but nothing came of it.

I've not seen any servers for a few months. :( I haven't played anything since December 2011...i started checking everyday after feburary this year...and i never see anything...

I've done what was suggested in the first post properly for doomseeker..

I downloaded the latest internet doom explorer for the first time just now, double checked the options to make sure it was using master.skulltag.net:15300 and it was already set to it..

Still see nothing except doom1 and doom 2 servers. :(

And the post rozark linked to didn't have any helpful information at all..

Trust me, it works so much better

Okay i tried that..
But it doesn't help.
It never makes any servers show up period when i try master.skulltag.com

Not even doom1, or doom2 even...absolutely nothing. :(

Yes, i did try. I went back to the .net:15300..
It's back to normal...

But still never any megagame.wad servers on either of the programs.

http://postimage.org/image/yzjjburv5/ (http://postimage.org/image/yzjjburv5/)

And...what's this people are talking about in some posts "IP range ban" ..how would i check "just in case" if i might be caught in it somehow ?? I seriously hope not though, i haven't played in nearly a half year.. and just now wanted to come back cause i really miss getting to play mm 8bitdm with everyone. :(

I'm sure you configured it right, so..

See the "almost top" where you can see stuff like, "Players" "Name" and such? Go over to the one that says "IWAD" and press it twice. This will arrange the wads that Megagame is NEAR the top and in a group.
Title: Re: [Guide] Master Server Change (if you can't see servers)
Post by: kuja killer on May 17, 2012, 02:22:29 AM
The problem is no servers ever appear period...

I actually scroll down the list and even sort by "iwad" ..i get purely nothing except stupid doom crap all the time...never see megagame.wad in either of these 2 programs... i just dont understand. When this was just perfectly 100% fine when i came online everyday from december 2011 and backwards.. :(

I have the latest doomseeker 0.8.1, i tried .net:15300, .com - always doom doom doom ..hundreds of them...it's getting really irritating.

I wish it were possible to make this block all and any IP addresses that host anything-doom...and only search/detect megagame.wad and nothing else...rather than querying doom all the time.

Well... is it possible ??

I followed a tutorial someone put up and downloaded doomseeker and I'm always seeing at least 6 megagame.wad servers up, even if they are empty often.

New master server address for Doomseeker (Options>Configure>Engines>Skulltag): master.zandronum.com:15300

On your skulltag-*username* cfg file, change:

skulltag_masterip=master.skulltag.net

to

skulltag_masterip=master.zandronum.com

These settings should show you those servers that are using ZDN's (ZDN = short for Zandronum) master server on both Skulltag's internal server browser and in Doomseeker.

If you still don't see servers, then change those two things back to master.skulltag.net

If you still can't see servers on both settings, then they're either down, they aren't hosting using either master servers, or your internet is acting up.

Me too and I always get "connection timeout" (even with the new master server address that I use to connect to ST servers...)

EDIT: I think I found the solution: in doomseeker (or IDE or whatever you use) you should add

(without the "skulltag_masterip=" part)

It must be a range ban that you've been caught in by accident. I don't know how you're supposed to contact the Skulltag staff now, but there's probably a way on their site somehow.

It used to say I'd been banned from the server, too, but I decided to, in a way, "reset" my doomseeker. Now all I get is doom, doom2, and freedoom. I've already put in "master.zandronum.com:15300" in the master server URL thing and it's the same thing.

My apologies for the late response to this.

In Doomseeker/IDE make sure the master server address is set to master.zandronum.com:15300.
If that does not work, then your internet speed might not support Zandronum or any browsers for servers for it.
