Title: There's no Kirby topic yet?
Post by: Dr. Freeman on October 30, 2011, 02:38:58 AM
Well I'm going to remedy that.

So I'm just making this for random discussion about the Kirby series, which in case you haven't seen my avatar, or username, or a lot of things, I'm a big fan of it.

Sadly, I don't have a topic to start a discussion on, so (Hoping it's ok) I'm just going to leave this here, just in case anyone starts a conversation up.

Galacta Knight.
That is all.
Well, how many people here can say that they beat Kirby Super Star Ultra 100%?
Also,my friend who has the Shiny Cobalion in his Pokemon White let me play Mass Attack.
Excuse me while I go and get Mass Attack...

I beat everything in regular Super Star but a 100% run on Great Cave Offensive. I'm not the smartest in finding hidden treasures. :S

I used Stone, man.

Free invincibility frames are needed for that crap.
Title: Re: There's no Kirby topic yet?
Post by: CarThief on October 30, 2011, 03:31:09 PM
If i recall Hero to Helper was somewhat harder then the true arena (if planning to finish them on all), after some practise with invulnerability frame weapons like the hammer dash attack its not quite as hard. Think i even got a 100% on it after i finished all the Helper to Hero runs.

And the guy after Galacta Knight is even worse... Especially with that boss not appearing anywhere else for practise, purely existing in the True Arena.

Edit: Galacta Knight's summon of THREE insane mace wielders covering 2/3 the screen at minimal is quite brutal though, if you dont take them out before they start taking up the screen.

Like Car Thief said,Hammer has invincibility frames as well, but stone's are longer, and its only one hit per invincibility with stone, and with hammer, its up to 3,plus you go faster.

I got 100% in Superstar Ultra. Took me forever to figure out that you had to get all 60 treasures in Great Cave Offensive in the first time you go through though.

I used stone in True Arena for the first time, by the time I got to Galacta Knight and beat him, I had almost no HP left, I had one tomato, so I had little HP against Marx's Soul.

Boy was that a stressful fight.

I then later did it with hammer. and beat everyone up.

From what I've seen though Galacta Knight seems much easier in Return to Dreamland.
Though the final boss (Who I won't say) has the most amazing music ever.

^THIS. It got stuck in my head, whoo.

True Arena I thought was cake, and most of the other modes as well. Hammer completely destroys most if not all the bosses. Also, Galacta Knight is possibly the hardest boss in True Arena due to randomocity and not having a good pattern.

I mentioned this on skype yesterday, but I found artwork for Kirby Amazing Mirror, and in the picture the green kirby had a top hat.

>_>

Speaking of Amazing Mirror and Green Kirby, it was the Green Kirby that finished off the final boss. Who is annoying as hell cause he has like 5 phases.
And 4 of them are almost exactly the same.

And for those who haven't heard the final boss theme yet (Don't worry, the title doesn't spoil who it is. The comments if you look at them might though)

Also I think that this song needs more love

One the topics of the arena's on KSS and KSSU. The ture arena is not hard, teidous, but not hard.
Helper to Hero, it was chalanging but not very hard, unless your going for all ablitlys then its somewhat hard.
The origonal arena on the origonal cartridge, was hard just beacause there is more bosses.
In the remake, it was much easyer.

If you have 2 players in KSS, you can do a make-shift Helper to Hero. It's a bit tricky doing it with one person on an emulator, I should know.

I only recently(read: this year) learned about the second secret world in Dyna Blade, but I've known about the first for a long time.

I've also pretty much memorized where every single treasure is in Great Cave Offensive, but I can not tell you how to get them all because I'd need to be playing to remember it.

Only one treasure always gives me trouble in GCO.

It's in the third area. You have to hit a rock/hammer switch, that's underwater. You can't use rock underwater, so I think I had to take a hammer from the start, and take it with me the whole thing.

It sounds similar, but the tune is different.

But then again the final level of Revenge of the King is basically Dedede doing almost exactly what Meta Knight was doing, down to the music, sending his minions, the chat on the bottom, and giving a weapon before the fight.

I never played multiplayer on it (can't think of a single person in Maine that would have a GBA, that game, and a link cable), but after playing through the entire thing myself, I can easily say that it's a very fun game on single player. It's not something like Left 4 Dead where it's meant for multiple people, but rather it can be just as fun by yourself.

Only problem with the game on Single player is that sometimes the Kirbys won't follow you well. I still think kirby with a cellphone is the funniest concept with the series.

That's what I think of as a good thing. They aren't there 24/7 and disrupt your game, and will *almost* always be there when you need it, just with the press of a button.

Kirby And The Amazing Mirror is my most favorite kirby game of all time. It was the only kirby game I spent countless hours playing by my self and with freinds. Star Dood, I'mma let you finish, but Vs. Yin-Yarn was one of the greatest songs of all time.
(click to show/hide)

Anyways, I'm a real fan of Kirby.  I've got Kirby 64, Kirby's Epic Yarn, and Kirby Super Star Ultra (Or I did, before it was stolen from me/lost in Arizona).  I enjoy Kirby games for their replay value--they give a completionist like me something to do.  I've earned all the Crystal Shards and defeated Zero-Two in 64, and I think I've only got one more not-gold medal in Epic Yarn that I really ought to go back and earn.
ANYWAYS, of the six things that have caught my eye in the new lineup, Kirby's Return to Dreamland is one of them.  Does anyone here have it yet, and if so, how is it?
Title: Re: There's no Kirby topic yet?

Yin-Yarn's song did kick some major ass, but I'm much more of a fan of Fangora's boss music. I love the slow build-up to it, and although you'll never hear the full version fighting him (he's easy as hell), it's still a great song.

Other songs from Yarn that I like:

Weird Woods: Unfortunately a comment from youtube makes me put "My Little Pony" in the main verse... :(
Dusk Dunes: My lord, this is sooooo catchy.
Flower Fields: I like how simple they keep this tune. It has a nice melody to it.

Kirby is one of my favorite series out of all of them, I have the original super star and ultra. along with 64 and i used to own amazing mirror. my friend had squeak squad witch i wish i had, i so cant wait till Christmas so i can get Return to Dreamland. My favorite ability would have to plasma from super star... then there is the sword thats in the newer games, i don't know i just like seeing kirby slash the crap out of things over being a lot like fighting.

Off the topic of Amazing Mirror for a minute, I personally think that Squeak Squad gets more hate then it deserves.

Speaking of city trail.
If they made a new Kirby's Air Raid, we would need more city's. Seriously that was the best mode in the game.

I like that for some reason most of the music from Kirby's Air Ride comes straight from Kirby's anime. Just watch a subbed episode and you'll hear most of the tracks from Kirby's Air Ride. Also if we're pitching our favorite Air Ride music, I happen to like this one here:

Changing to other Kirby stuff, Return to Dream Land. Who has it, and who's enjoying it, because I've never really felt happier with a Kirby game since my time in Grade 2 trying to beat Kirby Super Star. The multiplayer is wonderful, and I also happen to like the revival of the food sharing system. Almost every copy ability seemed to get a really cool upgrade as well.

Stone for one. The stone can now grow even bigger, and you even get a stone uppercut punch. There's also all the new stone forms. Dunno if showing the stone forms would be a spoiler to anyone, so don't click below unless you don't care about seeing the forms for yourself.

Personally, I like Hydra more than Dragoon, but the star I'm best on is probably either the Wagon, because that thing is downright awesome.

Most of my siblings don't like the titular mode, Air Ride, and only do City Trial, much to my chagrin. I love racing, dagnabbit!

Also, me and my brothers were planning on learning Magma Flows and possibly Frozen Hillside as a duet on piano.

This vehicle, this vehicle right here. The Bulk Star was all class when you played City Trial. No one was gonna bring you down anytime soon if you powered up in the slightest, and it's the only vehicle to outfly the Dragoon (not vertically though).

I love every one of the awkward vehicles in Air Ride, namely this, Rex Wheelie, Wagon Star (No boosting, but it was still a great vehicle), and Formula Star.

I have new respect for the Bulk Star. I mean, I knew it was good for defense and offense out there in the city, but I never knew it had this amazing flight ability.

The thing is still ugly as heck, though.

Kirby air ride is always going to be one of my most favorit games of all time, I'v had so many special monets in that game.
My faorite veicals(Ignore bad spelling please) are Wheelie Bike, Warp Star, Bulk Star, Swerver Star, Hydra, Wheelie Scooter and Dragoon. we owned with all veicals though. even compact star, We always played City Trial because we were on more equal levels.
Though my sister would throw fits when we destroyed her veical. We always worked together in the game.

Question: How many of you were annoyed with the Checker Knights Time Trial on Warpstar in 3:55 Challeng. It was the only one I never beat in the entire game.

I never had any trouble with the Warp Star challenge.

I think Rocket Star on Beanstalk Park was the only one that stumped me for a while.

In kirbys air ride my favorite star's were, the wing, protowarp star, turbo, the wheelie bike's, and metaknight.
If they ever make a sequel (which they should) they should make you be able to start with the two other characters.

Won't spoil anything cause that's no fun. But I'll say the most entertaining part of this whole thing.

Little Brother 1 takes a key
Little Brother 2: Why should he get the key, he's the one that dies all the time! (that's kinda true)

I have an important question!
Does Kirby make out with his partners when he wants to heal them after eating something, and while doing that, barfs the food into their mouths?
That has been bugging me since I first saw it in Superstar.

Single player's pretty rad too, if a little short (I got around 16+ hours, I'd say). That being said, getting 100% will probably take you way way longer.
Certainly well worth it for the boss fights! They're really damn fun in this game. Especially that final boss.

My only real complaint is that the beam ability is still pretty shite. Though that's debatable, I guess.
