This is a thread I made so I can stop harassing everyone in the Spamthread.

... In reality, I think only EK, Korby and I will ever use this space, but oh well!

Stop loving Onion Knight!
No, just kidding.
Anyway, I guess I should warn you of the two bosses in the 000 story (Which is very very VERY non linear) I won't tell you who it is, (They're the same thing, only one is a manikin and has less HP) The manikin has an item that makes it so after 60 seconds its defense goes up so high that you can't deal any brave damage. Oh and he has around 60,000 HP.
And the 2nd one has a better moveset, doesn't have that item and has 125,000 HP.
I'll say it again, make sure you have 5 mains.

I don't want to sound like a cliche jerk but the game sort of makes you "main" certain characters. The top row six instantly come in mind.

Out of the top six I'm only keeping Laguna and Tifa though (maybe Vaan because ground AND aerial rapid attack PLUS chase is insanely broken and easily exploitable). I played Laguna before I unlocked his story (like I did OK) because I thought he was a really cool guy (also like OK), and Tifa's uppercuts are extremely sexy.

Also there's an EXTREMELY easy blue portal to grind KP from in the first half of Tifa's 012 chapter. Buy a Multichain from the Moogle Shop next door, enter portal, use Multichain, abuse the crap out of Falcon Kick Burning Arrow. Rinse and repeat for an easy 25 KP (or a +15 KP net gain).

You won't be forced to play as the top row 6 in story mode again for...obvious reasons.
The only ones that the game doesn't really let you play as are the villains, so I recommend that you just try them all out on Free Play.
Also,  I agree with Laguna, but I'm not just that good with Tifa.

HOLY SHIT A NEW POST

I've been playing around with the villains so far, and I'm taking a liking to Kefka (THE KING OF SPAM), Sir Jecht (THE KING OF SEQUENCE BREAKING), and to a lesser extent Cloud of Darkness (THE KING QUEEN OF FRICKIN' UNDODGEABLE LASER BEAMS).

Kefka is hilariously broken because I can sweep max AI bots AND my human friends just by mashing A in midair. God I love that homing attack so much -- made even better with the name Wiggle-Wobbly Firaga.

Sir Jecht is pretty cool as well. Sure, he lacks any sort of distance attack whatsoever, and his movepool is extremely limited -- but he excels at using the few tools he has. In my opinion, the three Bravery and two HP attacks is enough to work with, especially since (with the exception of Jecht Beam) they all have the COMBO tag, allowing you to change the final hit with directional input. Sometimes I want a large order of Wall Rush, and other times I feel like using Chase. Even better, if you charge the attacks Sir Jecht can break opponent sequences AND interrupt guards. Sir Jecht must be determined to have the final say in what goes on during battle, heh.

As for Cloud of Darkness... really, I only like her for her simple-to-use and easily exploitable HP attacks. Her catalogue of tentacle techniques is a bit unsatisfying for a person used to gun-toting laser-summoning sniper-rifling GREATEST-ATTACK-EVER-wielding ladies' men playboys, sword-swinging head-butting rugged-beard-sporting badasses, and insane rainbow-clad jesters bent on the total destruction of the universe. The fact that her long-distance Bravery attacks are close to nonexistent (and the few she has are a bit unwieldy to use) doesn't help the problem.

My current mains are:
TIFA LOCKHART, the scantily-clad heroine of Cycle 012 and a self-proclaimed master of the Zangan technique
KEFKA PALAZZO, who is so insanely awesome he has his very own rap
LAGUNA LOIRE, the man with the plan who scores on all the sexy ladies -- OW LEG CRAMP GOD DAMN IT
SIR JECHT, my personal knight in shining armour with the greatest combos known to man
and last but not least, ONION KNIGHT the boy hero with an amazing physical attack / magic spell duality

I literally came up with these lyrics in under 8 minutes
DON'T LOOK AAAAAAAAHHHHH YOUR EYES WILL BLEED

So 2 years ago on GameFaqs. I made a parody of "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" on the Dissidia 012 forums.
And this was the final result.
Oh and this is relevant cause it's a Dissidia related parody.

A Dissidia thread? Nifty! I actually play the game competitively, off-and on. Got invited to the communty's "back room" and everything.

I primarily use the villains, myself, particularly the cool ones. Exdeath being my main, with Garland as my secondary, and Kefka, Emperor, Gilgamesh, Sephiroth and Golbez as my backup. I've always found the hero characters to be pretty boring overall (Laguna being the exception), but the villains?

You don't mess with those guys. >:D

Shmeckie! Of all people, I expected you the least. :p (No offense.)

The villains are certainly really cool, and I can agree that SOME of the heroes are pretty much the same "sword sword sword WHOOP NOW WE HAVE A MIDAIR RANGED ATTACK" bread and butter... SOME of them. The aforementioned Laguna is REALLY fun to play, and Onion Knight is more of a close-ranged combo fighter. He lacks the power most characters have (most hits only do about 2 damage, to be honest) but he can lock you into some devastating combos upwards of 40 hits.

Honorable mention for interesting heroes goes to Cecil Harvey (with his dual classes gimmick) and He-Who-Shall-Not-Be-Named (because he STEALS EVERYONE'S COOL MOVES, you douche). Lightning is also pretty cool but I rarely use anything outside of the Commando Paradigm so I didn't think she qualifies.

If I had money I would buy that damn network cable just to play you guys. :ugeek:

I've been a FF fan since FF1 for the NES was new. Though recent mope-tastic games have caused me to drift away from the series (and with FF13, it's gotten to a point of almost self-parody). But the prospect of beating the hell out of these bishie losers using the FF series' host of evil badasses? I was sold from day 1 game 1. Especially the prospect of playing as the great and mighty EXDEATH!

The heroes are more balanced in terms of their pros vs. their cons. The villains work in extremes, where they're much stronger in their pro areas, but have bigger weaknesses. Garland, for example, is Cloud on steroids but with way slower speed. But due to his way bigger weapon, priority, and damage output, he murders Cloud in a matchup sense. Especially on the ground.

And then there's Exdeath; he who dominates the game.

Don't know why you hate Bartz so much. Dude's the best FF protagonist there ever was. No angst, no whining, no mopey crap, just a lovable doofus.

Zidane was basically Bartz 2: Electric Boogaloo, anyway... Bartz came first, and was the least melancholy protagonist for yeeeears.

And this is probably why they're buddies in Dissidia's (ridiculous) story mode.

Also look I'm not dead. Its been a while since I've checked up on this place...

Anywho, I've got several level 100s. Beat Feral Chaos. Love the game. My best is Kain, though I like Cloud better cuz he has a huge awesome sword.

Well, I bought Dissidia 012, now I hope the PSP still works... It should work.

Is there a tutorial mode of some kind? It looks different from the other fighting games I'm used to. I watched this guy review it (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jqj0-0MkPF4) and he said you could play it in an easier "RPG Mode". But is the tutorial still neccisary?
Title: Re: that one Dissidia thread in the corner
Post by: Dr. Freeman on March 24, 2012, 02:00:44 PM
I dislike the RPG mode. There's a tutorial when you start up the game, and the game teaches you other stuff when you go on there. (Like it tells you about equipment when you go on the equipment screen etc.)
Title: Re: that one Dissidia thread in the corner
Post by: Hallan Parva on March 26, 2012, 02:18:13 PM
I play on RPG Mode because that's what ALL the badasses do.

... I also play on Action Mode and enjoy it a lot too. In fact, I use Action Mode a lot more, I just like making my friends feel like crap because I can whoop their butts with RPG Mode and the skill "RPG Mode Boost" turned off. :p

On an unrelated note, Onion Knight has reached Level 43 (with the assistance of Bonus Day, FUCK YES x16 EXP BOOSTER) and has learned both of the HP Attack skill links for his Multi-Hit bravery combos.

Let the rapefest commence.

Oooooooookay, if you played Dissidia before and ask that you've played before when the tutorial appears, do NOT tell the mog that "I am a master".

I don't know what he exactly sics on you, but to me, it was a some kind of Super Duper Hyper Mega Giga Firey Level 9001 Colossal Winged Ultimate Unlimited Demigod Bahamet. Also known as Satan. And he completely crushes you. And humiliates you. And then feeds on your tears. And then you see your Level 1 Lightning fall down. And then the words "Defeated" appear. And then the mog reappears and laughs at you.

So yeah, don't tell it "I am a master". End of story.

It's Feral Chaos. The "True" final boss of the game.

There's your final boss preview =D

And this is half of the reason I love you so much, Beed. You always find a way to make me laugh.

Yeah, notice how it said "vs Feral Chaos" at the beginning? That's the endgame's optional Bonus Boss. TvTropes refers to him as an SNK Boss. Oh, fun fact, it gets WORSE from there. Turns out that the Feral Chaos you saw there was just a Manikin.

Have a nice day.

Title: Re: that one Dissidia thread in the corner
Post by: Shmeckie on March 28, 2012, 10:04:05 AM
Feral Chaos is an absolute joke against Exdeath... >.>

Seriously. Exdeath is the only character with a matchup advantage against him.

And no, the Feral Chaos you fight if you say "I'm a master" is the real one. The fake is the Level 50 one you fight at the halfway point of Scenario 000.

Hah, I gave Garland a real epic beating in one battle while level grinding Vaan in Quick Battle mode. I wonder if I should upload a replay? It's less than a minute long.

That's all I've been doing with Dissidia right now. Leveling up characters in Quick Battle. I've done the first story chapters with Lightning, now I have to do Vaan's.
Title: Re: that one Dissidia thread in the corner
Post by: Hallan Parva on May 15, 2012, 12:27:08 PM
so I was playing Dissidia the other day and I cleared 013's storyline

Chaos was... to be honest, laughably easy. I beat him with Onion Knight on my first attempt. No retries. Then again, Onion Knight had an EX build and I had a great time with Swordshower, which might've helped me a bit.

Then I unlocked 000: Confessions of the Creator. I'm really liking how you have free reign to explore the Dissidia realm, going to different areas and unlocking gateways as you please. I'm not a fan of the lack of a general plot, but the open world feel more than makes up for it.

One thing I didn't know (and that the game didn't even BOTHER to explain) was that the random Assists you get in gateways can challenge you to fights. In my first 000 red gateway, I got dealt Yuna; she spawned two blocks away from my position. I thought "oh hey it's Yuna, I wonder what advice she has to give me" and talked to her expecting a hint or something.

NOPE, CHUCK TESTA

Level 100 Yuna with Assist-centric build and Tidus assist versus Level 60 Onion Knight with EX-centric build and no assist. NOT FUN. :ugeek:

I somehow managed to scrape by after about twenty attempts... and I leveled up like nobody's business. :p

Oh yeah, Onion Knight hit Level 100 today, making him my first capped character!
Cecil Harvey runs a close second at Lv88, while Bartz and Warrior of Light are at a distant Lv62.

So, how are you guys holding up? I want updates darn it!

(I also made a Battle Card with OK set to Lv30... I'll get it up later.)

I beat 000 forever ago with Kefka, Emperor, Garland, Gilgamesh, and Zidane.

Emperor is such a pro at Feral Chaos, he's too big to avoid the traps.

Argh, I still need to level grind for 000. I got Lightning to level 60 something, though, although even a minimal difficulty Ultimecia can still put up a fight when I put her level around there or above.

So... Now what I got here... every character on lv. 100, well, not every skill mastered but eh... almost all lv. 100 equipment (being too lazy to get all the Exclusives, but heh). I'm mainly playing with Sephiroth, Warrior of Light, Prishe, Shantotto, Squall, Golbez, Gabranth and Cloud... (not counting Feral Chaos :> ) guess that's it, I propably missed someone again... I don't personaly like all those "spam from far" characters but that's how I play... speaking about The Emperah... op fag. D: So guys, if you want contact add "akaitsumi" on PSN. ^^

Because Dissidia 012 doesn't have Infrastructure Mode. If you only got PSP all you can do is to play with AdHoc, which is made for close distance play. Quite sad, isn't it? Making such awesome game have no normal Multiplayer feature >.>
