I like Metal Gear. Do you like Metal Gear? Because I like Metal Gear.
I've been trying to play the first one but Disc 2 keeps stopping to load. (If you people have any suggestions that'd be excellent)
I have all four games in the main series but I'm gonna play them in order because why not. So far, the gameplay is decent (except the boss battles, which are extremely amazing) but the story, music, voice acting, and overall atmosphere is incredible. Better than anything I've seen in gaming so far.
Also, can I politely request that any plot details be put in spoilers? I still have much to play and wouldn't want my experience to be ruined. Many thanks in advance.

Metal Gear Solid 3
Best game ever. Literally, it's the best game ever. Name a legendary-good game, I'll prefer MGS3.
MGS2, on the other hand... ugh... I hate Raiden. He's so whiny. And beard-less.

I wonder if they'll ever make a movie.

Why would they? The games are movies all by themselves har har

Peacewalker. That is all.

My thoughts exactly. MGS4 is a close second and may be the only reason to buy a PS3.
Metal Gear Twin Snakes for Game Cube is also a blast, the Psycho Mantis Boss is one of my favorite boss battles.
inb4 so you like to play Castlevania?

Anyway, I haven't play the Metal Gear games, but I did play the Metal Gear DLC for LittleBigPlanet. It feels weird destroying an almighty powerful mobile nuclear launch platform with nothing but a paintball gun.

MG always seemed like empty hype to me. Syphon Filter was a much better stealth/action title back in the day, and now these things are movie than game anyway. Utter rubbish.

I love the Metal Gear series ever since I found my Step Brother's NES version (yeah, bad version to start with lol).
Eventually I started playing the original releases though Emulation, and etc.
My personal favorite has to be MGS4, it was the perfect end to the series, and also the only other video game admittingly, that had made me cry at the end.

In all honesty, I kinda wish they would remake Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake. It reminds me of MGS1 before there was ever a MGS1. Favorite MGS game would be 1. MGS3 is great too while MGS2 makes me feel like I am watching a moving more than playing a game. T_T

Psycho Mantis is awesome.. He reads your memory card, and says stuff like, "I see you like The Legend of Zelda!" (This could be creepy, if you get to this part playing the game blind, and you actualy do like LOZ.) Then he makes your controller vibrate! ..Then, he makes paintings laugh at you.
Pressing the button for first person view makes you see from Psycho Mantis's point of view.
You cant hit him, because he detects the buttons you press on your controller or something.
He's impossible if you have no idea what the simple thing you have to do, is.

You've never played them?
Wow.
I love Metal Gear, and I'd say that MGS1 was my favorite by far.
Don't let that deter you from 2-4, they're damn good as well.
Also, if you punch Maryl and hide in your box, the wolves pee on you.
Then you can come back and wear the box and they leave you alone.

Looks like I'm not the only one who's late to the series.
I had JUST picked up MGS2 *Not Substance version, unfortunately* for a dollar at gamestop, and I have yet to play it.
Does one need to know a whole lot about it's predecessor before playing? This is my first Metal Gear Solid game, so I know very little about the story line.

Technically no, the fictional chronology is different then the actual release date of the MGS lineup.
Fictional Chronology:
Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater
Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops
Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker
Metal Gear
Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake
Metal Gear Solid
Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes
Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty
Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots
Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance
The ones in bold are relevant to the story line, and if you want to fully understand everything about the MGS universe, then those are the games to play. (They're also the games that I've played and would recommend).
