The name is still a W.I.P
So I want to create a youtube channel that can be used to promote MM8BDM because mike barely uses his. You've probably seen those people who have those channels dedicated to game commentary like STAR for tf2 and Yogscast etc etc, and I think that MM8BDM could use something like that. I have the nescessary programs and hardware to do such a project, and I think it would better the community. On the channel, I'd post things like general game commentary, tutorials, mod spotlights, late night live commentary, map guides, and stuff. Newbs to the game can get visual tutorials and anyone else might get a kick out of my shennanagins. I'm sure if I just keep at it with uploads, we can garner some attention. I'm ready to undertake it, and I wanna know what you guys think. Should I go for it or is it too much trouble? Would it be good or bad? Tell me your opinions.

What we need is a visual tutorial for installing MM8BDM and setting up for online playing. I should really get to work on that.
-
You should have a sign up/auditions for commentary because

I was actually going to make a tutorial for installing MM8BDM right after I made the intro episode.
For the commentary, I was planning on doing it all, but I am considering taking community made videos.
EDIT: I have a intro video recorded if anyone wants to see it.

Agreed. I'm interested myself.

An interesting idea. It would be a tad hard to get everything done since there is quite a lot of stuff which could be made. I support this idea, and I would like to help out.

Same here. If there's anything I can do to help out let me know and I will definitely try.

With a little Sony Vegas and Photoshop magic, I can whip up something like that in no time.
With that said, I too would like to assist in this possible podcast. May it be video editing, showing up for commentary, or what have you. Of course my time will soon be limited by school, but the same could be said for most of us here anyways.
-
I'd be up for it, I also have Sony Vegas so I can help with video editing stuffs.
ALSO MY HILARIOUS COMMENTARYWLEKFA;JDld;sjf
Except not really that hilarious

See guys, this isn't a huge community project. This is just something I want to do but I am accepting some community made stuff and maybe some help.
Although I am thinking of making it a whole cast of me and 2-4 people perhaps.
-
I'm not one for video editing but I am good at commentating and making tutorials for various things and whatnot :ugeek:
-
Willing to commentate, though recording is most likely a no unless you guys want to view what I do in the atrocious softwear palette.
-
I can handle the gameplay videos, don't worry.
But so far no one has answered the questions I asked: Is this a good idea? Do you like the idea or do you think it'll crash and burn? Opinions people, opinions.

I already gave you my opinion. If you would like me to expand more, then...
In my opinion, it is a good idea to get a few dedicated people from this community to create content (youtube videoes, or just podcasts in this case) to attempt to increase the popularity of the game. However, we cannot be certain what will be the result. We could get tons of views which could result in increasing the game's popularity, or on the other hand we might get little to none views which could therefore result, in some people opinion's, to be a complete waste of time. It's really and truly a 50-50 kind of thing. Unless of course we ask people with a higher reputation to help us out by advertising the channel or something.
-
Well, I think this is a great idea. If we can find at least one person with somewhat if a popular youtube account it could work fine.
However, that doesn't seem terribly common. Example, I think I have 86 videos and the only ones that get views really are the ones that have to do with music.
-
I have a decent YouTube account, guys!
See, it's not just Cutstuff that has to deal with me. I have friends in other places too.
That's why some of my videos have 300 views and what-not.
-
I was actually thinking of making a whole new channel instead of using someone's existing channel.
-
Ah, but how are we going to attrac-
I see where you're going with this. I actually started some videos a while back where I was demonstrating the classes in YD classes
-
One thing I could do is record myself making maps, similiar to the way Cutmanmike did when he made Hardman's stage. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yss5KQYdHVs) Although a few people said that it would be quite pointless since nobody would watch it. I still wouldn't mind doing it though.
At the moment I'm out of maps to make though. I'd have to make some layouts and actually plan things out well.
Also, I only make CTF maps... >_>
Unless somebody asks me to make a DM map specifically...
-
I would love to help with a channel, but I only can attract spanish people, so yeah...
-
Multilingual support shows the world that we have a diverse, accepting community. :ugeek:

I hope I'm not straying too off topic with this, but seeing as this is for attracting new players, I deemed it relevant.
GENTLEMEN...BEHOLD!
If this channel does get started, you should re-upload or refer to this video on it.
-
You win just for using Emerl's theme.
Forget the fact that the video looked clean, or that it was easy to watch...
Nope. You won just because of your choice in background music. :ugeek:
-
I'd be willing to crank out demo videos of all of the gameplay modes and where to get the files
-
I'd like to start the channel, if you don't mind.
Of course, it'll be a shared account with a few other (trustworthy) users, but I still want to make it.
And Airman, that sounds like a plan.
-
Alrighty, also usually my recording software is Camstudio because I can't buy FRAPS >_< Unless I were to find a cracked version I suppose.
-
Bah I need to find a good freaking video editor that isn't complete bullshit and is free and isn't windows movie maker.
-
Going to raise my hand and say that I'll be really good as a video editor. Sadly, I no longer have Sony Vegas, but I still have Roxio VideoWave which is undoubtedly better than Movie Maker AND I've spent a lot of time making youtube videos in the past which a lot of people seem to really like. I don't know why they like those videos but eh.
-
So I have like FRAPs and stuff and I can record things and stuff
-
^ I just DL'd that this morning so same

You could try that. I tried to find a WMM substitute, but I could not. That program seemed like it had alot of potential, but I never really sat down and learned how to use it. You can find the info page here (http://www.jahshaka.com/). They used to have an established forum elsewhere (now it just seems like it's on sourceforge's website).
