I now have a medal system set up on the site. What's that you ask? Well, think of them as forum achievements. You do something to match the criteria, you get a medal under your user info in your posts and in your profile. What do they do? Well... Nothing! Just to show off.

If you think you've earned a medal but haven't got one yet, post here or drop me a PM.
More medals will be added in the future. In the mean time, feel free to post some ideas for medals! :mrgreen:

I have a feeling it's gonna be a race to get that plumber medal.
I want it sooo baaad. GOTTA COLLECT THEM ALL.
I bet the Speed runner medal is won by fastest proven speed run of a megaman game.

Originally it was going to be for a speed run of the singleplayer campaign of MM8BDM, but we can probably get speed runs up for different games :)

I'm doing the bright man and bug cruncher medals "from now on" kinda thing. I haven't fixed any bugs yet, but when they are I will give out bug cruncher medals accordingly.

I had an idea for a medal, what about one for successfully completing and releasing a project that was hosted on Cutstuff (Shameless plug I know), but there hasn't been anyone that has done this yet, and it takes a bit of work, it could be something worth rewarding.

Ah, interesting so far, I guess there's many potential ideas for the medals, would be interesting if there where medals for stuff done in-game, possibily GVH related.
Perhaps i'll come across a bug in the next GVH and get some medals along the way. I suppose they're a great way to uh, encourage people. :P

Well I guess the 2nd new one (Expansion one) wouldn't be SO hard, as I am thinking of a Skin Expansion (ZX/ZX Advent characters 8-bit-ified)

How about a tournament medal? Like you, or someone else, hosts a special tournament for MM8BDM/GVH and whoever wins gets a medal.

Good.
The level should be based around a clearing in a jungle, sort of like wood man's level, but more flat and a lake in the middle (there was quite a bit of water in the original stage) getting away from this lake, you would encounter a large yellow building which was also in the original stage. This building blocks you from going to far.
Good/Not?
After that you posted a screenshot with an almost identical stage layout. If that was coincidence, I'll be sad.

Coincidence I'm afraid :P Although to be honest, with those tiles there's not much else I could have done than a flat level with water in the middile!

Of course you can't win the art contest, you haven't even tried to win it. If you really want a medal, you have to work for it. Plain and simple. Some of these medals aren't even hard to get. But sitting about doing nothing and asking for one? Nuh huh, not going to work.

Why is there no "Long Time Supporter" medal for those of us who've been supporting Cutty and MM8BDM since he first showed it in the Alpha stages to... let's shortly after the first trailer or so ;)
It can have Sunstar on it, since he's been around for a long time, like those of us who been here for a long time supporting Cutty and MM8BDM. :ugeek:

Lol, good point. I do belive this should become a medal with Cutty's ZDoom portal gun on it :P
Because that is one of his best works in my opinion and it was made quite a while ago.

How far back would it go and how would I know this? From registered users on the site? Posts made within a certain date range in the mega man deathmatch forum?
Also I added a new badge, check it oot

Probably the best way to do this is to review the registered users before a certain threshold. Look at posts made around the time that forum was created and if you really want accuracy, check to see if the Last Visited has been after MM8BDM first surfaced.
On top of that. I would have a further requirement of the post count being larger then 0 and any posts made, are in the MM8BDM forum.
So let's say March 16, 2010, a month after the first official trailer came out. To Cutty's formation of Cutstuff.
From descending order, based on my own criteria.
Qualified:
Blaze, brawlman9876, Zero-EXE, azurestormgod, FuPoo, Korby, clawgrip, Namo, squidgy617, brotoad, Musashi-COM, Jamie, PowerGloveNinja, Mobius, Mikk-, Ivory(myself), DoomThroughDoom, CarThief, Damage, Cyclone, PressStart and finally
CutmanMike. Since without his support, we wouldn't have MM8BDM :geek:
If you actually reward yourself is up to you though.
Borderline:
KoukiMonster, Woot2000, Lighting
Notes:
Qualified means they fit the criteria and are still regulars.
Borderline means they fit the criteria, but haven't been active for awhile.
Not sure about the borderline cases, but other then that, according to my findings, 22 people are eligible for the Long Time Supporter Medal, if you decide to make it.
Also I agree with DTD. The Z-Portal Gun would make for a better long time supporter medal since it has been around for a long time.

If I spy on people (ie. other forum sites) about upcoming cool stuff, do I get a Snake Man badge for... being a snake? No? ok, lol. Worth a shot. :p

Would some of the stuff on my blog (or the Playfire game page I made (http://cutstuff.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=619)) meet the requirement for the 'Attractive Member' medal?

That's a good question. I made an announcement on my touhou xfire groups chatroom the day(more like AS it came out) it came out that stuck there for a bit. Then some time later, I actually made a news blog post about it. That itself got a few of my members who never even touch doom or skulltag into playing it.

It's still on the front page, meaning anyone viewing the clan page is being exposed to MM8BDM.
What is the requirement to getting that medal, and how do you even know when someone does promote it somewhere you would never know about?

That's because, forum wise, there's no way of have many people earning that medal for anything earlier than GvH! So thinking it through, I thought giving a month after the first official trailer was enough time to have a group of "Long Time Supporters" Of course, giving a medal to everyone registered is silly. So I made requirements. Then out of boredom, I went through every last registered user until a month after the official trailer release and gathered every name that fit my requirements.
Whether Cutty uses it my list or not, or even the medal is his choice. Don't act like it's going to exist soon. I don't think he even acknowledged this idea yet.
