I went to go redownload MM8BDM the other day, and I actually had a little bit of trouble finding the download link for version 2c. So I was thinking-- do you think a large-ish "Download" button should be added to the main MM8BDM page, to make it easier to find for people who aren't in the know? It could just redirect to the links at the bottom of the "About MM8BDM" page, which are already there.
I was thinking that the download being hard to find might also be the reason people end up with old versions of the game, too, so this might help to solve that issue.

Thats a good idea but it involves modifying the website itself it can work but..... Lets see what everyone else has to say about it ok?
-
I'd like this. The first time I saw the site I couldn't download it. When I try to get people to download it they get confused on how to download it and give up.
-
Yeah I really need to do this. I also need to fix the about page, it's a bit... messy.
-
Actually if anyone wants to make a nice little 8-bit Download button for me, I can do this immediately. :)
-
Threw together something painfully generic real quick.

I'll make you something. Be right back.
EDIT:
And done. Using RM7FC sprites, of course

This looks pretty good.

Cant really speak here for what Cutman wants, but you will probaly want to cut those black outer edges with some image editor, though im no expert on what might do the job for that.
The 'download' text is blinking a bit much and gets annoying to the eye though, if you ask me, personally it might look better if it doesnt blink at all, or atleast not as rapidly. Or phasing in and out of existence, but i'm not sure if thats very 8-bit anymore.
Aside from that its a pretty good effort, and well-sized too, if you ask me.

Another way I could do it would be with the stage select cursor
EDIT: And done again. I have oh so much time... XD

small and...

big
And, yes, I'm saving them here, in case he needs one for the incoming V3 release.

That looks much better. Might want to lower the rate a bit, but that certainly looks a lot better.

Each frame stays for 0.1 seconds. So, what should be the new delay?
-
I tried .11 and it looked decent, though I might be the only one who thinks it's flashing too fast.
Perhaps .105 would work :ugeek:
-
I went on and tried to make a 105, but only up to two decimals are accepted. So, here they are, the 0.11 second ones and, next to each, an alternating 0.11 on odd frames and 0.10 on even frames (yes, I was trying to simulate 0.105):

I prefer the slower one on the left myself.
-
I agree with SmashBro. That one looks more like an electric billboard should
with no seizures huehuehue. It inspires me to go and do original stuff like that.
-
We need more seizure inducing lights, please.
-
I take it the lack of a B in "MM8BDM" is there to conserve space.
-
Clearly, this is a link for Megaman 8 Deathmatch. Oh the horrors.
Personally I don't think the version number is needed, the link would be pointing to the most up to date version anyways.

Right. So, which one will be used? 0.11, fake 0.105? I assume the big variations will be used.
-
I like the slower flash myself.
-
Right. I'll edit that one and update this post when I'm done.
EDIT: Aaaaaand done.

STILL MISSING THE B

STILL MISSING THE B
Alright, I'll add it then and edit the post above.
And done. Check above
-
With two extra spaces left, you could add "V2" in there.
But ether way, this looks pretty nice!
-
Uhhh. That ruins the whole point of taking out the v2c. I think it looks nicer with the white space.
-
Then... It's pretty much done for real now, I guess...
-
Only problem I have is not everyone is gonna realize what MM8BDM is. It's not the coolest acronym to look at. I think a simple DOWNLOAD button would suffice. I can add the version number below the button on the blog to make it more obvious that you're getting the game via the button.
-
So, the latest button minus the "mm8bdm"?
(windows eating my N? I don't know...)
-
Yup, that would do nicely.
-
And, there we go, quick edit done:

That Looks alot better i'd say
