So what are your thoughts about the Wii U? And if you have one, what's your favorite game or feature so far?
Also feel free to post Mii name and Nintendo Network name for friend requests. My Mii's name is Quint and my NN name is Quintin (yes, he looks somewhat like Quint from MMII).
My favorite game is Sonic & All-stars Racing Transformed.
-
My dad just got me one (Lucky me woo, someone had cancelled their preorder and I got a Deluxe). Gonna have to wait a bit as he's going to mail it down here.
Plan on putting my Wiiware / VC games onto the Wii U, dunno yet.
-
Does it have backwards compatibility with Wii games?
I've yet to pick mine up, but I haven't been following it very closely.
So does it?

It does

I want to know a couple things. Is the online feature like PSN now? Will there by Gamecube titles on the shop channel? Can you download WiiU games onto your system like you can on Xbox and Ps3?
-
Meh. I've got a Wii but I barely ever use it, and when I do it's mostly been for downloaded content like MM9/10 and FF4after. My 3DS gets WAY more action.
-
I don't see why the WiiU will have VC GCN games when IT DOESN'T HAVE GCN CONTROLLER SUPPORT!
what.
I'd probably get a WiiU just for New Super Mario Bros. U and Scribblenauts Unlimited.
And that new Smash Bros. whenever THAT'S coming out.
-
How is New Super Mario U, anyways? Is it as uninspired as NSMB2? If anything, the level editor seems really cool.
By the way I've never downright stated I've wanted one of these but I've gotten my sisters hyped up about it and now they can't wait to get one, so I don't know. Maybe I'll get one for Christmas.
-
Well, it's world map is similar to SMW's, Sumo Bros (from SMW) are in it, the final world is Peach's Castle, and this time it seems to actually have some new music!
Wait, what?
If anything, the level editor seems really cool.
No, there's no level editor, unless you mean Player 5 (who just places blocks everywhere).
EDIT: Apperantly NSMBU might have DLC.
EDIT2: Wow, Bony Beetles are back too.
EDIT3: And 3up Moons.
-
I lack excitement for the Wii U right now, mostly because of the games not grabbing my attention at all.
I looked at the list of games. There's nothing there that speaks much to me. I probably won't be getting a Wii U anytime soon.
-
The gamecube controls would need the wiiU pro controller
-
it actually seems cool, can you play warioware D.I.Y. with it? i know little of nintendo systems.

If you mean WarioWare D.I.Y. Showcase, I dunno, does the WiiU have WiiWare?
If you mean WarioWare D.I.Y. DS, then no.
-
Probably going to get it maybe next year.
Maybe.
-
I'll probably get it once they release a later revision that no longer BRICKS ITSELF IF AN UPDATE IS INTERRUPTED!
Seriously, where is Nintendo's quality control?
-
I just tried ZombieU at a friends house, I must say I'm really impressed
-
I will most likely never get a Wii-U, so no Smash Bros. 4 for me.
-
Got one recently. It was a FANTASTIC way to entertain guests for Thanksgiving weekend.
I have Nintendoland, NSMBU, Sonic and All Stars Racing Transformed, and Scribblenauts Unlimited. Sonic and All Stars Racing Transformed is a blast with 5 people, and NSMBU's boost mode was actually very interesting and really fun for not only the players, but the boost mode controller as well. Of course, Nintendoland used the controller in some interesting and cool ways that kept it fresh, but after playing the same minigames a billion times, it does get old. Still, it really showed some of the handy features that the controller can give, and it was really fun.
-
Scribblenauts Unlimited.
When I get this game, I WILL ride a Colossal Winged Ridable Tingle.
-
actually, i heard u could make your OWN original words, is that true?
-
@geno: Unfortunately, you cannot put adjectives on the Nintendo words from what I've heard. I haven't actually tried it, though.
@colonel: Yes it is. You can start with a base object and edit it as you like to add new words to the dictionary.

Someone hacked or got a developer Wii U console, and can now access the admin menu of Miiverse.
I say:
Delete it.
Delete it all.

Sees Yoshi Island WiiU
DUM DUN DUH
-
As long as it doesn't reach the downright abominable quality of YI2, I'm fine with that.

Sees Yoshi Island WiiU
DUM DUN DUH
:O
HOLY CARP I NEED THIS.
But I was actually hoping they'd make another Yoshi's Island game for 3DS. 3DS needs more games.
-
I personally would like "Yoshi's Land WiiU" (as it's actually called) to have a play style like Yoshi's Story.
That, was an extremely fun game.
-
wii u looks bad
the controller looks like a handheld console and is way too big.
it has no sd card slot so no transferring games
no good games have been announced yet
3/10 wouldnt buy
-
The Wii U is outperformed by last gen consoles. I've been done with consoles for since the PS2 anyway.
-
the controller looks like a tablet and fits perfectly in your hands
it has an sd card slot so transferring games is possible.
some good games have been announced already
9/10 would buy
Fixed that for ya.
-
The Wii MINI does not have an SD card slot, however the WiiU indeed does have one.

Honestly, I've seen some footage of Nintendo Land off Game Grumps, and I must say it rekindled something inside of me I haven't felt in a while.
I remember the times of old where I'd be so excited opening that Wii box on Christmas day, and bundling around with my family, being in absolute awe of the new technology and the brand new way to enjoy things just from Wii Sports alone. I remember that first time I played Luigi's Mansion with my dad, in awe at the complexity of this new system and could only imagine how it'd get better.
With the semi-mediocrity of 3DS releases, I've sort of forgotten such a feeling exists. Being able to have fun and share your enjoyment with others is what video games were designed for. The new tablet feels like a new link into a new era of gaming, and it reminds me of that wondrous Christmas day in 2006 when I was still capable of feeling such fun and innocence.
Not to mention, supposed Gamecube games on the Virtual Console? I'm in.
-
GC games on VC sounds unlikely.
It sounds about as legit as thinking GBA in 3DS's VC.
There might be some WiiWare remakes of GC games though.

Well there was that 3DS ambassador program that gave out GBA games along with some others. So it's entirely possible

And thats exactly what it feels like, too.
When I got it, I spent a good long time staring at that shiny new controller... and playing it with my cousins was so much fantastic fun.
I can understand people not wanting it that bad for various reasons. I mostly got it because I like all of Nintendo's franchises, so I can't wait for more.
-
I personally enjoy Nintendo land, even though fot the most part I'm by myself.

damn it Llama I was going to mention Game Grumps just now :ugeek:
But yeah, the Grumps are actually making me re-consider this console. Thanks, Arin and Jon.
