Title: Windows 8 for games
Post by: Emmanuelf06 on November 27, 2012, 03:18:53 PM
Guys, i will change my computer for christmas, do you know if windows 8 is good for online games?

A lot of guys told me : "Windows Vista is the worst for game, take XP or Seven!"

What do you think about that?

Windows 8 is just silly in general, I'm not going to touch it with a 10-foot pole until some of the kinks are fixed.

I'd say take 7, it's been working really well for me so far and nothing bad that I can notice.

Windows 98 was faster, simpler and... Still had MS-DOS, so yeah it was better.

BTW, this is old but somewhat related:

Just saying. Windows 7 dominates all OSes. Windows 8 is Windows Vista in disguise.

This kind of OS would work great for a phone... but for a PC: no. Not in a million years.

Get Windows 7. DON'T GET XP.
XP won't support games that use Dx11 which a lot of games do today.

XP is a flaming, radioactive turd that will hand your money, identity, property, and sexual preferences to the nearest script kiddie on a silver platter. (http://it.slashdot.org/story/08/07/15/0123245/estimating-the-time-to-own-of-an-unpatched-windows-pc)

Windows 8 == Windows 7 + the interface from Windows Phone 8 - the features that make Windows 7 usable on its own. Get 7, or find out about downgrade rights. Vista isn't half bad either.

TBH, I got used to Windows 8 in 2 days.

yeah sure, the start menu has a shitty phone layout, but you get used to it pretty soon.
