it has come to my attention that there is a game in development called the Universe Project. it is basically a virtual paralell dimension that has you as a human where you can do anything a human can do. it looks advanced and fun, and has its own website with a video explaining what it is.
you can sign up on the website using an email adress to get updates and even early beta access.

I think it's a marketing scam, or some sort of hype train going nowhere.
Not buying this super game project proposal idea at all until I see some proof of concept.

Yup. All I can see this as is a black hole for Kickstarter money - money that almost certainly will be pocketed instead of going to development, simply because this kind of system is impossible to fully realize with our current level of technology. (Second Life is the closest thing to this right now, and even a simple chain with Havok enabled will DoS the server.)
EDIT: This also sounds like a veritable factory for Internet addiction-related horror stories like the kind that South Korea is dealing with right now (http://www.pri.org/stories/science/technology/internet-addiction-south-korea.html). At least this is like the real world, instead of just being a Skinner box.

Way to much hype about this, that video just seems misleading. I'm betting the video and game are going to be much different than proposed. Not expecting much from this really but hopefully I'm proved wrong. Excpecting a release date somewhere in 2016 perhaps?
