Title: What are your hopes and dreams?
Post by: Turbodude on January 04, 2013, 11:43:30 AM: The clouds have passed, it's 2013, a worldwide apocalypse theory has left us with expected results, and the road to tomorrow is bright as day. How do you wish to walk this path?

I've always considered myself a dreamer, almost always looking into the future and hoping for the best. Some people dream of having a nice family, others dream of being a billionaire or having successful jobs.

So, Cutstuff, let me ask you...What are some of your hopes and dreams?
It can be small, like excelling on something you're working on, or obtaining something you've always wanted, or it can be big like having a successful future or discovering something fantastic.

Let's not make this too silly and post about how you want to see pigs fly, or how you want to rule the world with Servbots.

Come on, now, I want to hear your thoughts for the road ahead!

Post by: SmashTheEchidna on January 04, 2013, 01:48:55 PM: Well...For one thing, I hope to finish all my big projects I've been working on for the past few years. That includes a fangame, 5 Phoenix Wright styled fan-cases, and an entire fanfiction series (which the former two are apart of).

Call me crazy, but I really am serious about finishing all of them. Even if it means I have to do it myself.

Personally, I want to get a career in computer programming, specifically software engineering or just something involving coding. Relevant to this is my interest in learning how to code in DECORATE and ACS sometime really soon.
Along with a career, I really hope someday I can have a wife and kids, raising a loving family as I listed as an example earlier.

Oh yeah. and I'm really into bikes, so having a motorcycle sometime down the road would be awesome. Preferably a Honda.

I also want to have made at least one full game by myself. I need to overcome the lack of sprites and graphics and maybe not being able to use game maker first though, which is hard.

I also hope to have a family of two. Probably no kids because I can't tolerate them that well for some reason and I'd rather not relive a childhood from someone else's eyes.

Post by: LlamaHombre on January 04, 2013, 10:58:44 PM: Similar to Accel, I hope to go into the storytelling business someday, but I'm not sure whether I'd excel at describing a vibrant world using just my words. At the same time, I'd love to get into game design as I feel I have a general grasp of how to make my ideas successful and entertaining. Perhaps a compromise between the two would suit my tastes best. I unfortunately can't see myself going very far into the future beyond college. My social skills outside of Cutstuff are shit, and I don't think I've proven myself to be dedicated to something yet. I haven't met a girl who'd be willing to spend the rest of her life stuck in a house with me, perhaps even with llamitas, but perhaps I haven't looked far enough yet. Scared to death of motorcycles, can't picture myself in a car.

I'm just going to live the 6 years I have left until that kind of shit pops up sooner than I'd wish.

Post by: Gumballtoid on January 05, 2013, 12:11:23 AM: I haven't quite decided what I want to do with myself in the future, but I have been doing a lot with drama. I might try to become a technician or something, as thus far it's the only thing I really enjoy that could potentially get me a wage.

Though in the near future I hope to get a part-time job and become immersed in that environment. Things like making friends or meeting a girl are out of my reach, as I'm a dweeb when it comes to being even remotely social, so I can't see that happening. However, I might be able to make a friend or two if I happen to get more involved in community drama or anything that would require active participation and commitment.

I probably want to go to college, and even if I don't, at least get a job that will keep me afloat. As much as I'd like it, a family could come later, after I'm certain I'm capable of self-sufficiency.

Post by: Tengu on January 05, 2013, 12:29:06 AM: My hopes and dreams are not something I take lightly. I am very determined to achieve what I want to do in life, and I really have been trying hard in school to study up on it so when the time comes, I'm top notch and prepared for the job.

I'm sure that I will meet others along the way that may have the same goals at me, and we can help each other out and become friends. I don't know if I'll have time for a love life during all of this, I hardly have time for any of that now.

I am going to need to set aside some money before I begin considering I won't wanna be unprepared for it. Although the healthcare I'm going to need is going to be absolutely free (Thank god for that) I can't afford to spend money on healthcare when the time of need comes.

So I have decided that when I turn 18, I am going to pack my things, leave my house, and head on down to the University downtown. I'll talk to the professor in the science department getting started on the right track, and hopefully he will give me one of his prized Pokemon. It is my dream to defeat the Elite Four, and become a Pokemon Master.

My dream, however, is to make games. Video Gaming has been something I've held dear for a very long time. Over time, though, I've watched the overall quality of the gaming industry decline. Nintendo is still doing pretty well, but even they are having some trouble. Sony is just angering me to no end. They really went off the deep end after the playstation 2 (great system btw). Microsoft is making similar mistakes. Overall, most game developers are focusing too much on tending to the masses, making games based off of the template fps that is call of duty, focusing on metagames in competition, and more; instead of making games the way they were originally intended. I look at games from the 80's, 90's, and Early 2000's, and see great quality in the games, but with a trend. The games seem to become more and more spoon-fed with the difficulty and conveyance. From the unforgiving difficulty of the 80's to the lobotomized ease of use of today, it just peeves me.

Yet, with some independent games, such as Super Meat Boy, Cave Story, hell, even the Touhou Series, I saw what I used to see in games, development focused on gameplay.

tl;dr, the game industry has become too complicated.

I'll head up to Canada, where I'll find a young tomgirl named Daniel and hug him, before proceeding to kick him in the nuts for stealing what I stole first.
After that, I'm gonna study at OSU and become an innovative and successful electrical engineer. Once I've made enough money, I'll buy myself a good ranch in the countryside, to live out the rest of my life in silent peace.

Then I'll realise that I was an idiot for leaving behind a stable life for this new one, I'll be unable to find employment and have no money to return or nothing to return to so I'll just die in a ditch at the age of 27. It's all part of my plan.

I mean really, you earn about 120-125 thousand dollars a year just starting out. It will be worth the schooling, and the hours are pretty decent. The job itself is memory of what you learned in school. And I actually have a pretty decent memory. Plus I think I would like to help people overcome their illnesses. And i'll probably be supporting myself for awhile, and with the decent hours I might have quite the free time, so I might find a hobby, maybe have a wife, i'd say a max of two kids really. I don't want too many. Then, when I die, I want all of my videogames, and systems (including my comp) buried with me. Because I can be that selfish if I want to.

Right now, my goal is to finish college with as high grades as possible, and to search for my skills that I'm truly best at.

Dreams? Somehow be the head honcho of design in video game development, which a lot of people dream of, I suppose. I'd love to be able to make my ideas come to life. But I'm still perfectly content with programming, graphics, what have you.

Also, to be a successful author. ~~Preferably ridiculously rich.~~ I've been writing a book series for some time now and am doing revisions at the moment, and I hope to one day publish it... and hopefully, have it go over well.

I've had certain encounters where I can either have the life I'm living now and be partially satisified creating things such as maps/mods/etc, or I can find a particular someone and be family-ful (That's a word, right?) and also be partially satisfied. I've learned that no matter which path I take, I'll regret not taking the other path. Now you ask, why not do both? I've looked at those chances; they aren't high. I'm particular jealous of a particular someone on this site who has both of those things, and well, I could use some peanut butter with this jelly :I.

As a result, I'm unsure of what I'll be doing. I have wits, and I can only hope that that is enough to help me through my life.

So um, yea. I probably won't be going that deep into my private life again.

I also realized that many of the people here are probably going to Videogame Design/Author; the literal combination of the two. Such a small world..

That, and impress Keiji Inafune, I believe he is the best video game designer in the world( designer as in doing whole loads of concept art and story and plot line and that stuff bro) and I want to show that I get better than him. And I live in a poor family, so I want to show every body that I can be successful unlike the rest of my family. That, and show these douche bags here at this school( who bully me nonstop) that when iget big and famous, they'll be working at my mansion. That, and I think I want to get into robotics( Servbots fo reel yo!!!)

Just look at all the people wanting to become Video Game developers. I'm not in it for the money (only a little bit), but I want to create something great if I do become a developer, a cult-classic sort of game, the one with a nice little fanbase such as this one is to CutmanMike and MM8BDM.
