Title: Ban Evader Alert: Unix
Post by: Tengu on January 13, 2013, 07:33:05 AM
I've come to alert you all that there is a player named Unix that was recently master banned from Zandronum for good reason. These reasons being excessive impersonation to cause trouble, proof of Aimbotting, and proof of Wallhacking. He has been found ban evading in several servers as of recently, so I ask you all if you see him, make sure you take screen shots, and also kick on sight.

Please just be aware of it.

His known in-game aliases are:

Unix
Miamiheat
Starman
PKFire
MegamanXStreetfighter

We are not positive yet, but we think he may also be using the aliases: Vegeta, Prince, Alex or Prince Vegeta with a Blue, Yellow, and White color scheme. (Would be a Bikdark impersonation), so be aware of that too.

If you have any concerns, don't hesitate to contact:
Tengu and Tango
Bikdark
Orange Juice
BlueBrawl
King Dumb

Thank you.
Title: I never consented to being notified :I
Post by: Mendez on January 13, 2013, 07:45:03 AM
I don't really care if a banned player is roaming MM8BDM, but if you really want this person caught, I can help send notifications to the Zandronum staff. Just so long as he isn't breaking rules like last time, then maybe people can just leave him be and assume he's changed for the better.

Post by: Tengu on January 13, 2013, 07:46:24 AM
Well, ban evading in itself is breaking a rule. On top of that, if our suspicions about him impersonating Bikdark are correct, then that would be another rule broken. Bikdark has informed me that this person was distributing his personal information from his youtube account also.

Post by: Mendez on January 13, 2013, 07:51:03 AM
Damn, then this jerk needs to be stopped. Do your part, cutstuff. Even if it's Bikdark that's being targeted.
Title: Re: Ban Evader Alert: Unix
Post by: Myroc on January 13, 2013, 12:12:44 PM
Wow, I never knew I could feel sympathy for Bikdark, of all people. Distributing personal information is not acceptable. I'll keep a vigilant lookout for the culprit whenever I'm on a server.

However, you may want to stop advertising his aliases in a public forum post, where he can see them. Instead, send them via PM to people who request them.

I don't think we should call it off until we've got a new range ban in place.

[2:22:16 AM] j_wallus: Oj are you ther
[2:22:57 AM] j_wallus: I have something important to send you about unix
[3:16:28 PM] Communist Mage: I'm here now
[3:16:33 PM] Communist Mage: And if it's that he's Sonix    //Disproven
[3:16:34 PM] Communist Mage: I know
[8:06:38 PM] j_wallus: No it's about him impersonating celebi and adding uf
[8:46:53 PM] j_wallus: I play at midnight like I said so , I was playing around 2 AM I think and yeah.
[8:47:00 PM] Communist Mage: Impersonating UF? Oh man what a new development we haven't seen

Alright, go ahead and ban him on all the servers.

Go ahead.

I'm waiting.

Yeah, not that simple. The only way we can do that is to submit sufficient evidence to the Zandronum Staff and have them extend the range ban already in place.

I agree with OJ. I ran into this Unix guy last night, so I know for a fact that he's still running loose. I wasn't aware of the whole, needing to take screenies though, so hopefully the others I were with were aware. I'm certain of at least one person who was.

Was this name "Mr karma?" :ugeek:

and also I'll try to help, but guys, please i beg you, don't let this be a "homie -like" issue. Last night Llamahombre was under the gun for being unix (of course, hes not) and it was quite heated

Well, not much can be done about hackers actually. Only ban them individually and pray that one day the Zandronum team makes a sort of registration and login system similar to this one seen on Counter Strike 2D, which would allow to not only safely ban someone but also certify that they can't cause any more problems.

It's not hacking, it's a dynamic IP.

Unless you're referring to the aimbot, which I believe no longer works in Zandronum.

Some people don't know what Dynamic IP is, though. As for aimbotting, he was caught aimbotting back in the Skulltag version. But I doubt Zandronum is aimbot-proof.Hackers gonna hack after all...

Unix has also entered a server just now under Tengu's name. Please be alert for impersonation. Gather screenshots of impersonation, inform all players including the player impersonated, and most importantly of all, HOSTS. PLEASE SEND THE IPS OF IMPERSONATORS. Thank you and good day.

Back on topic, if you suspect someone as being Unix, don't try to bust them as Unix. It'll only make him hide even harder (or leave without saying a word). If you know the person in question, try talking to them about things that they would know about, like funny stories or projects you're working on. Usually that'll let you find an impostor.

For example, I said "Rock Club" to Unix while he was masquerading as LlamaHombre and he didn't have a seizure, so I was able to see through the disguise.
Title: Re: Ban Evader Alert: Unix
Post by: SaviorSword on January 22, 2013, 07:57:54 PM
It's one thin' to evade a ban and come back quitely and never offend the rules again, but this takes the cake though.

@Smash, this is more or less the best way to counter him, knowin' others well. I mean, we've (community) has been around long enough to know a bit here and there (and even trope folks), and for Unix he's outta luck if he tries to copy another name. (Imagine him tryin' to be me! That'll be a fun time.)

Now, I don't really get why'd he impersonate others while it'll just make his life more hellish.

what knux said.

If you see me in a server just ask about my classes mod i'm working on or pm me saying you "seen" me in this or that server but most likely if you see me it will be the Real me.

I also use the swordman skin or my self skin (http://www.cutstuff.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=30&t=4712) most of the time or one of the other custom skins made by others.

Recently he showed up and ranted on Bik being crazy and wanting to set up the bomb on him, claiming HD's DEMO RECORD of his aimbotting is a hoax... But this is how he "started up" in the server we were in.

Also, I may note: someone once asked me through Skype if I was in a certain server, but at the moment I was in no game at all. Not even in my usual GBA gaming, so... Could it be him?

By the way Unix was definitely an aimbotter

In CSCC, he was hitting invisible Bikdarks that were on the other side of the map with Laggy Blazko with near-perfect aim
Title: Re: Ban Evader Alert: Unix
Post by: Orange juice :l on January 22, 2013, 08:32:16 PM
I was the person who recorded the demo. Unix has had some vendetta against everyone in UF, impersonating them and putting on the tag as a favored venue of impersonation. He also seems to go after other high profile players.

I can confirm that it was in fact an aimbot.

well as we can see, this "unix" in the screenshot is very paranoid of getting found out and trying to convince people to attack the person hes impersonating, i would watch for those signs... and im going to put the name "jetfire" on the table of suspects since he is matching said signs closely. Here's one thing I'd like to point out,

The only way to FULLY impersonate someone in-game is to PERFECTLY copy their name,
this includes not just getting the spelling and colors correct, this also includes letter casings!
I notice sometimes imposters get some casings wrong so this might be one other way to imposter check.
I know that you can't see casings in-game, but you can see them on DoomSeeker and/or player/server lists.
So basically the next time something fishy goes on, check the server you're in on DoomSeeker.

Doesn't help much. the impersonator could be aware of that before or he might be now, after reading this.a trick is that you should keep watch on one's average ping, lag spikes, etc. That's the hardest thing to duplicate accurately. Also, look for hints within playerinfo.

Apparently, according to what Korby told me, he wants to talk to me. Something about him being banned on Cutstuff and he went by the username ""zazoo". But I have never heard of any user that went by that name, nonetheless banned it.

Though I dunno if this is really true or not.

I'm going to ban you all from Cutstuff and burn down your houses if you don't make me a mod!

Scare tactics only work on those who are willing to believe them. There's nothing he can do but call BS kick votes and put on our names, unless he wants to go deeper than Cutstuff, at which point, it'd become a legal issue instead of a Zandronum issue. If server admins would kindly get samples of his new IP, we could make progress on this case.

I was just informed by Alice, Fyone, Blaze, That One Boss, Pikmin555, and several others that he was impersonating me when he was making these "demands" after they called him out. Apparently he was also seen impersonating Bikdark with the name "Vegeta" today.

So thank you for knowing that it wasn't actually me.

Well the IP's location was in Texas. We're going to get another IP from a different server's log to see if they're both in Texas.

We've got an IP match from a week or so ago and today on different servers. It's bound to be a dynamic IP so a bit of a range may need to be put in place, but we only need a few more demos and screenshots now and the Zandronum Staff can be contacted.

Well, paging through this thread alone with the IP's is decent evidence, but yeah we need to make it more concrete.

That reminds me. Last night, Unix showed up in Deathwind's Vanilla DM server. He bore rtist's color scheme and used a bind that said "/me, the villain of MM8BDM, has arrived" upon entering. He left immediately afterwards. He joined later and did the exact same.

He didn't actually do anything harmful though, but he's still out there.

Actually, that was me just having a bit of a laugh mocking Unix. I was trying to bait him into revealing himself if he was in fact there (which it turns out he wasn't).

Well, apparently, in response to my impersonation of Unix (or Yunicks), he has gone to the lengths of impersonating me now in revenge. Of course, after beating him down in classes dueling with fireman (vs fireman and later vs airman), he really didn't have all that much to offer.

Other people present said they got screencaps; I didn't (because I can't in Linux for some reason). Hopefully, they take the time to post the screencaps of the beatdown I laid on my impersonator.

Question: should I feel offended or honored that he's impersonating me now? They always said that imitation is the greatest form of flattery....

Neither rtist <uf> or blrtist is me. Where I am right now, my ping is less than 20 most of the time.

Also, I use the =HASTE= tag; everyone knows that!

Fyone, look at the colors of his name; they're reversed from mine (red, pink, white, light blue, dark blue is my normal color order.)

Irony is thats practically the story of my life, im somehow never there when all the "action" takes place, i only just get to hear about it, much much much later after the fact. even if it is a good thing(which it more then likely is) i feel like im a disaster evader, i dont think ive EVER witnessed/experienced/had to deal with any kind of serious situation of this magnitude (or greater) both in a VG community OR IRL...it makes me feel like i live a very dull life =(. but thanks i guess for the support/encouragement i suppose.

Bumping this thread because Unix has been around again. Just recently (yesterday), he was impersonating Bikdark.

Aside from that, no recent evidence of hack usage again, but just want everyone to be aware that he is around.

I've heard he's been impersonating Bikdark.
...And using the UBER tag without being in that clan.

No, that was the entire point of banning Unix. He was using aimbot and wallhacks to perfectly pinpoint targets and steamroll everything, and when he got busted for it he tried impersonating other players to "avoid" his ban.
Title: Re: Ban Evader Alert: Unix

MM8BDM has 9 non-BE servers to Forty Seven BE servers. I think this is a pretty solid fix for now.

Not that it matters. There's not much he can do aside from ban evading and abusing votes to "threaten" players.

For those who don't know, Unix has been frequenting servers of the past days/couple weeks. I know he impersonated me at least twice, and Otaku Alex a few times. In any case, I contacted WaTaKiD (a BE admin), so he has been dealt with within the Best-Ever domain once again (for now, that is.)
