Title: General Gaming Trivia
Post by: -FiniteZero- on February 12, 2013, 05:28:52 PM
You know the "Stuff in Mega Man you never noticed until recently"? This is the same type of thing, only for all games. I would have called it "Stuff in General Gaming you never noticed until recently", but the title is too long.

Sonic 06:
-The Green Gem has a larger hit radius than it looks
-Due to a grate not being where it should be, during the very last part of Tails' section of Wave Ocean, you can go into a small tunnel, and if you fly at just the right time with just the right jump, you can get to a Shadow-Only section of the level. It's barren.
-The Yellow Gem's shield DOES protect against damage, it's just that it doesn't give you invincibility frames, so some attacks will rip right through it and damage you.
-The Sky gem can be used to get to the Silver-only section of Flame Core.
-When using the White Gem, Sonic actually does a little twirl thing (like he does when going through a rainbow loop) when he homing attacks an enemy.
-Abusing Omega's hover ability (by mashing the jump button) allows you to go around where his part ends, and to the end of the level. The goal ring is even there!
-Amy's gameplay SUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCKS.
-I am convinced Sonic 06 is actually Sonic Adventure 3.

Sonic 06 can't be SA3, Since SA3 has been confirmed.

ANYWAYS...

Sonic's final combo finisher in Sonic Generations is identical to the cover art from the original Sonic Adventure
In Pokemon B/W and B2/W2, Reshiram, Zekrom and Victini can never be shiny.
OLIMAR IS TOP TIER WHYYYYYY
In Yu-Gi-Oh! WC06, Several fusion materials are not available, yet the fusion monsters are.

Apparently Raticate isn't a useless pile of crap

and the number of Shine Sprites you need to fight Bowser or get Yoshi isn't mapped to certain intervals like everything else in the game.

A lot of Castlevania games have graphic nudity for their female enemies, but still got low-ish ratings thanks to the low resolutions of the platforms on which they were released. For example, the Alura Une in Aria has pubic hair.

It hasn't been confirmed, just rumored. In any case, it's clear Sonic 06 was meant to be SA3.

Also, so that this post isn't too off-topic, there are a lot of zones cut out from Sonic 2. Like Hidden Palace and Dust Hill.

On top of that, Act 3 of Metropolis Zone was apparently supposed to be its own standalone stage that was called Genocide City Zone, which would have been a super cheery stage, clearly.
Due to time constraints though, they just said "Feck it!" and made it a third Act instead. It explains why the stage has some odd things that weren't in the other acts, like the lava and whatnot.

Also, there was Wood Zone or whatever, but I think one of Dr. Wily's robots threatened to sue, so y'know.

While I'm at it, apparently Sonic 2 was also meant to have some kind of time travelling feature, like in Sonic CD. That idea kicked the bucket soon enough though.

the design of Sonic's shoes were inspired by Santa Claus and Michael Jackson

also the name Claus is just the name Lucas scrambled up

Well, they chose that name because it sounded cool. They didn't know what it meant. Later on they were going to rename it "Cyber City Zone".

Speaking of Sonic 2, there was supposed to be a Winter Zone (working title) that was to be a pallete swap for Dust Hill Zone.

Though there was supposed to be a desert level in Sonic CD as well. Also, a real final boss. Ah well.

In the original level order of Sonic 3, they were going to put Flying Battery between Carnival Night and Ice Cap. The level was moved when the game was cut in half.

Sonic Extreme would have had a fish-eye lens effect going on with the camera. Probably best that that game was never finished.

Star Fox 2 was pretty much finished, but never released. There are roms and translations online, and it's a really kickass game, with my favorite Star Fox character Miyu Lynx (who I am convinced is a lesbian, but I'm not sure why. I think it's the ear-ring). The entire franchise probably would have ended up very different from how it is now if that game was released.

They should have released that damn game.
