As you may or may not be aware, Mega Man Awesome Network (http://cutstuff.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=37&t=4306) was a project started by myself and a few of my good friends, in an attempt to replicate the conventions of Mega Man Battle Network with custom player classes, weapons, and Battle Chips. I can't remember who was the one to inspire me, but somehow the focus shifted towards a full-on "expansion" of sorts, complete with maps, bosses, and a unique single player experience. Needless to say this viewpoint was pretty grandiose and overshooting what was reasonable, and eventually development on the project waned repeatedly until eventually new progress ceased to exist.

Skip to about two months ago. Besides the ever-enthusiastic Stonefunk, a slight interest has (for a third time) resurfaced for the project. In particular, Megaman lamented the state of Awesome Network and asked about any possible future. The team talked for a bit, then decided on a complete revamp. Previous builds of AwNet were cobbled together from many different versions, and passing it through Skype was not the best course of action. I decided that a total rebuild would be the best thing to do, and that besides a few Battle Chips and some base code, most of the mod would be completely done over from scratch. Giving the team the rest of winter as a "vacation", the goal was set for February to begin the revamp.

This announcement was originally posted in the Awesome Network thread, but I moved it here in order to reach a wider audience. There will be a "developer conference" of sorts being held tonight at 9PM Eastern Standard Time, though I may start streaming earlier in order to ensure everything works in time for the event. During the stream, the team will be talking about the current state of AwNet, plans for the future, and answer any questions the audience might have. We'll also be releasing all of our old code to the public; everything works in v3a, though loading any weapons or classes will break the ammo definitions for the Mega Man 8 weapons (plus Time Slow / Oil Slider) so they can't pick up ammo or be refilled. This is pretty standard for any v2-based project loaded in v3a though, just keep it in mind.

Thanks to everyone who showed up. I saved a copy of the stream (http://www.twitch.tv/smashbroplusb/b/368179683) so people like Stonefunk who might have been eating a sandwich due to time zones can eventually watch the stream.

We're done here, you can go ahead and lock the topic. Thanks!
