Title: Cutstuff Pokemon Region DX: The Not Deadening
Post by: Orange juice :l on March 24, 2013, 02:06:04 AM
Sweet News Ticker:
I bet you're wondering why there's a new thread. Basically, DonutYoshi quit the entire project over a nerf to wild meowth. Thus, I am making a new thread for the current team (Because Llama, the other manager, can edit my posts anyways   )

Cutstuff Region is a Pokemon fangame running in Pokemon Essentials, a template for RPGMaker XP. The game will feature people from Cutstuff, a plethora of music edited into the BW2 soundfont, Custom Sprites, An actual plotline, Fully functional Pokemon magic with EVs, IVs, all that good stuff, Hemi-Functional Code, all 649 Pokemon obtainable in-game, Pretty Pictures, free drinks, and slightly less fascism than the Soviet Union!

The game's still a WIP (and I use that term heavily), so there's no estimated release date yet.

Holy Crap, we actually have progress!

Might I just add that if you wish to apply for a 'Pokemon Master' Role, that you need experience with RPGmaker and Pokemon Essentials in order to edit those values. Other people have jobs to do-- they won't always have time to do it for you

-SPRITERS
We need one or two more. This position involves creating sprites for a number of things, including CS-character trainers. Sprites are Gen 3 style on the overworld and Gen 4 style in-battle.

As much as I detest your choice in styleS, I feel obliged to boost my ego help with this thing, so yeah.

I doubt people would care about me now.

Okay I lied on leaving for a long time, and also me dissing on the community? That's a lie too. I really just had an ego, and Smash really does drive me insane.

I actually was working on that game after that stupid move of mine. Fixing stuff. Alone.

I don't really think this game really can progress without me.

Gonna need to be a bit more specific than that. All the major roles are taken, so I guess you could appear as a random trainer, in which case we'll probably get you in somewhere.

I'll offer up my mediocre spriting skills for this if you do still need a couple more.

Korby's pretty much taken up the last spot on the Spriting Squad. Sorry about that.

No battle frontier?

Damn.

It won't be named the battle frontier, but we'll have it in essence.

Assuming all goes according to plan.

I'll help with overworld sprites if you need them.

Again, spriting's pretty much filled up. Unless we suddenly find out we're 500 sprites short or YD gets shot, there's not likely to be a new spriting position open.

Alright. I made a quick demo video of Fyone's Gym. The main focus of the video is to show you the main mechanics of the game and what trainer battles will look like, and what gym leader/elite four battles will look like. As you can see, there is no dialogue yet. Not top priority. Enjoy, kids.

I'm just going to put it out there that CSR did not get retired due to a lack of trainer concepts.

The game died because no one did anything, I doubt there's really much there for you to do.

But to be more precise, the game died because DY was effectively our only coder. I might try to take over the coding job, as there's still plenty of resources waiting to be used and presumably spriters to fill in the gaps, but the biggest hurdles would be getting more coders to help finish this within the next two decades and deciphering DY's half-finished code. Finishing what somebody else has started isn't easy in the world of coding.

Have you ever used RPGMakerXP before? If you haven't, I highly encourage you brush up on that first. Besides, the actual group is pretty sedentary so I don't think I should "take the reins" as it were and make my own team before consulting with them first.

tl;dr i would prefer the go ahead from the chat which i'll probably look for soon

(The first three videos are giving me errors, so I'm going off the fourth one)

Putting in a trainer is nice and all, but there isn't really all that much that you've changed from the placeholder maps. Have you actually scripted any scenes or made any custom maps?

Keep in mind that we do need the will power of more than one person to keep this alive. I'd say the game in its entirety was only about 10% done. Maybe a little less.
