Title: Age of Empires II HD - Steam
Post by: Jman on March 24, 2013, 04:31:39 AM
Just a heads up for a remake of one of the greatest RTS games of all time. Those of you retro pc gamers definitely know this game. Its graphics are going to be revamped (but not drastically changed), the multiplayer will be revived with a master server from steam (meaning you won't have to use an annoying 3rd party matchmaker), and it will be compatible with windows 7!

I love the game, but I hate the gameplay. I just play it as a Medieval city creation simulator.

Truer words have never been spoken. Sandbox mode is completely necessary, although online multiplayer is tons of fun with friends. A game of Co op vs AI is truly outrageous.

I mostly liked single player, or coop vs bots. Multiplayer had the worst metagame (or lack of) in the history of games. It wasn't fun at all going online in the 3rd party browser to see people build tons of siege workshops right outside my village. Still, maybe with this, players new to multiplayer will come about?

The custom scenarios were complete hilarity though. It was incredible what people could think of with those.

I for one used to love playing this online with a friend of mine, and we're both gonna be getting this once it re-releases.

Too bad I'm not even that good at it, but I still have fun none the less.
