For those crazy for some fast-paced almost hitscan one-hit-point-wonder duel...

Allows reloading, but there's a class-based (NESpalm, anyone?) color variation because, sadly, Zandronum has PLAYERINFO for everything BUT Railcolor. At least it's something.

Edit: i feel all giddy inside when i frag someone with this! its just too much fun to use!  :D

Glad you enjoyed! :D Made it more because I kind of miss the days of IGlory in Skulltag/Zandronum, so this is kinda like a homage to that.

BTW, download it again. Pimped the ammo display a bit.

Using a chain of A_FireCustomMissile to simulate a railgun makes me sadfaec. Use A_FireRailgun ; it deals 100 damage in deathmatch and 150 damage everywhere else, so still instant death, plus real hitscan and the ability to customize your rail colors in Player Setup.

It's not a chain FireCustomMissile, but rather a projectile that instantly gains 480 speed while creating its own trail. 480 is the "most stable" speed I found for a fastprojectile (above this, Z speed may suffer.). I could recreate all those aspects with some ACS but decided just to keep things simple.

So... Yeah, I might consider that.

Alright, I actually played this mod, and I gotta say Zard was right. The railgun just FEELS right. Loads of fun, really.


My only gripe is that you can't reload early, meaning there's literally no benefit to conserving your shots. Why not a reload option on Alt?

Can do. Meanwhile, I'm working on a new version that will also (hopefully) allow custom colors.

Fast projectiles? That sounds hard to use if you have high ping. I might try this.

Is harder to avoid than IGMetalBlade, but is pretty fun! :D

Well, I thought for a while and I'm willing to give a second shot at making the Railcolor thing work, but it will only apply the changes to the gun when you spawn/respawn. Also, I may make the Railcolor change your actual in-game color (except for Rainbow, which I may try to make it randomly change your colors when you spawn/respawn). So, vote on

EDIT: IT'S NO USE! I mean: seriously Zandronum?! You have GetPlayerInfo for EVERYTHING BUT Railcolor, yet you have it defined in userinfo?! *sigh* So, yeah, sadly this means it is impossible unless someone teaches me an alternative that works.

AND NO, I will NEVER make a hitscan of it!

The only issue I have with this is that the trail doesn't seem to sync up with the actual attack.  I had a very hard time hitting anything with it because the projectile moves about five times faster than the visible trail. I don't know if this is just me, but it just feels off.

It accidentally got a double trail for no known reason. The projectile moves at 480 and the trails move's at 5% to 95% of that speedhaving a "freezing" after frame 1.

The alternative is to use hitscan. A_FireRailgun, to be precise. I made a ticket for adding player railcolor support to A_RailAttack, so it should be in by v5a or so.

If I wanted to copypaste the original railgun, I wouldn't have gone through all the trouble of coding it :I Plus, it would be "This is not an 8-bits weapon" all over again (Old drama from MM8BSM Invasion mod before a railgun weapon was eventually added to it)

Also, I found a temporary alternative, so...

As if people play my stuff... Eh, doesn't matter, I am satisfied with the effort I spent on them.
