Title: "Megaman Revolution" Fangame released!
Post by: Emmanuelf06 on July 06, 2013, 02:16:26 AM
http://www.rockman-corner.com/2013/07/y ... n-fan.html (http://www.rockman-corner.com/2013/07/years-in-making-mega-man-revolution-fan.html)

from Rockman corner: "Mega Man Revolution is a fan-game that began development way back in 2002. Due to a string of bad luck, it went through several instances of on-again, off-again development. Today, however, the team is pleased to announce the full game, front to back, is done and released. You can download version 7.0.0 from the official website here.

For those unaware, Revolution is an 8-bit adventure built from the ground up for PC. The entire game is designed to meticulously emulate the NES classics, right down to sprite flickering and slow down. Much like Mega Man 9, these effects can be toggled. A co-op mode is currently on the burner, which sounds like a lot of fun. To learn more about the game, visit Fifth Independent. "

We can choose Bass too...or Megaman o_O

Website here! http://megamanrevolution.com/download/ (http://megamanrevolution.com/download/)

Enjoy! :)

This is probably the fan made version of Megaman and Bass 3!
I like the masters, the maker has done well.
Let's make an expansion!

How do you exit out of the game when in fullscreen?

I exited out of it from windowed using alt+f4...like I do for so many things now...
Not sure if it works from fullscreen, though.

Tried out one stage.

...It's alright? The stage goes on a bit longer than I'd like, I get slowdown on my computer (for some reason), and the music is... there.

Ah well. Looking forward to skins based off of these Robot Masters for 8-Bit Deathmatch, at least.

There are some good things going for this one (Weapons are generally good and I really like the boo enemies), but it's still rather buggy, the aesthetics have issues, and the stage design waffles between insane difficulty and incredibly boring often in the same stage because they're so damn long.

Btw, since someone asked for a boss order:

If you get all the boss weapons and look at the save screen and/or pause menu, they line up in their weakness order from top to bottom (left to right on the save screen).

Also, some bugs:
1.) If you get Megaman's buster boost and kill an enemy with a fully charged shot, if it drops something (i.e health capsule), the fist shoves it off screen so it disappears.
2.) If you get killed while Sandman's sandstorm is blowing you back, when you respawn, you'll still be getting blown. This resulted in me starting BEHIND Sandman when I entered the boss room.
3.) I'm not sure if this is just me, but I can't find anything to destroy the supposedly "destroyable" walls, which is keeping me from accessing shortcuts and getting some neat-o stuff in the game, specifically in Blastman's stage.

You need a certain Alternate Weapon to blow up the breakable walls.
For Bass it's Bass Grenade, found in Sand Man's stage. I'm not sure where Mega's version is though.

The weird little 'crinkled' laser from bass breaks walls.  I'll have to check on the grenades, didn't notice that before.

I'm actually not sure what I think of all these extra weapons though, tbh.  It feels like overkill, and many of them aren't really all that interesting... just another thing that shoots forwards, yawn.

When I checked this game out, I was lucky enough to try out Sand Man's stage first (the stage being set in Australia enticed me). I say lucky, because you can get the MM3-styled Rush Jet there, which, as in MM3, renders all other mobility items useless. It may have diminished my first impression of the game, because with Rush Jet, I was able to get the max amount of WTanks, ETanks and even MTanks (all lying around stages) easily. I also feel the game is pretty forgiving with tank placement, which didn't help matters...Not to mention Sand Man's stage was pretty long and boring; I still have to go back and find the letter in that stage, but merely going back there is so tedious...

The concept of hiding secondary items in every robot master stage was cool, though, even if some of the item concepts weren't very interesting, as NemZ noted.

Go left when you spawn in.

I have a feeling, some robotmasters are made by some guys of the forum or what?...or its a totaly "stranger" game beside mm8bdm community ?

The cloud robotmaster (sorry for the name) remind me a boss of the ending mm8bdm v3a, but maybe it's not. x)

Finally gave up on skill and just tanked my way past it.  Beat the game with both charecters.

That last level... seriously?  You give me a gazillion weapons, three options to help keep them full and toss W tanks at me the whole game and at the last minute stick me with a shitty new weapon that coincidentally is the only one that works?  Have people learned nothing from God of War 1?  I did like the QUALITY though in letting me fly off the screen, ignoring the hardest part of the first hallway and then completely glitch the mandatory conversation into a game lock.  The acid is also bugged in that sometimes the effect doesn't turn off even after you jump back out.

And the last boss was a complete joke.  MEH!

UP...sorry but i wanted your though about this game compared to Unlimited.

What do you prefer ? Unlimited or this one for the accessibility/gameplay?

MMR has a great accessibility, the gameplay is very fun too, specially with Bass but Megaman has the Chargepunch thin from Megaman GB5!!
Im in the Wily Stage now of Rockman R.

I tried unlimited a little...it looks more beautiful and fun ennemies, but the gameplay (only megaman, no chargeshot ???) and the difficult looks crazy, not sooooo enormous as i hope.
I think, for now, i prefer MMRevolution.... (and Bass playable is just epic.)

But yeah, MMR is easier and less beautifull but i dont care for it...

MMR is more newbie friendly compared to MMU.
This game has great ideas and weapons but the designs are okay.
MMU is not for the new player, but mainly for players of the original games. I feel that the only nice thing about MMU is weapons and RMs.

Indeed, i will try to finish MMR and i start MMU actually.

But my paddle doesnt work well with MMU (i can't slide as i want <_<

I can finish mm3 without lose 1 life but mmU looks really more difficult than mm3 or mm7.. i will try more.

I like mmR a lot too because it's really cool to play with Bass and his dash/jump works' really well! =)

Make no mistake, sections of MMU are vicious to the point of being designed solely for the purpose of difficulty. Some moments are nothing short of abhorrently cruel and had me wanting to break something.

As for MMR, been playing it for just under two hours now as Mega Man with five Masters down. I was farming one level like crazy to get easy lives and Screws for every advantage I can get (because I'm wary of fangames and projects just suddenly giving a player the finger and throwing some stupidly difficult stuff around). So far I'm definitely liking it, but there are some real dick moves going on in Saw Man's stage. Bastard mookified Metal Man drones caught me off-guard no less than four times.
