Welcome to the Mega Man 8-Bit Deathmatch Mapper's Expo!
Based on the popularity and enjoyment of the SBWT Mapping Competition (http://www.cutstuff.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=34&t=5754), the idea was to have a semi-regular get-together for mappers to have fun, learn new tricks, gain experience, play with tilesets they haven't really messed with before, or just to have a generally good time. Every two to three months, a general theme will be chosen, with its own selection of requirements for textures, size, or actors. There will also be an Item Of The Day which must be placed in the map. Think of this like the secret ingredient in Iron Chef, where each team has to use that ingredient in their meal. Other than that, you're free to do whatever you like with your maps, and you're more than welcome to collaborate with others to improve your maps.
The theme this time is "Team Fortress". No, we're not talking about going invisible or eating lots of deli meat. Instead, think of the various castles and fortresses across the Mega Man series of games. The idea is to make a new Wily stage... or Cossack stage... or Mr. X stage, or anything final boss material. Yes, even non-Classic bosses like Sigma are fair game.
Like any good event, there are some rules you have to follow:
It has to be a fortress stage! Don't make a new Guts Man and say Wily decided to hide out in an abandoned mine shaft. However, if you were to use fortress stage textures with some rocky outcroppings here and there, it's fair game. Creativity is highly encouraged, but remember to keep a general "fortress stage" vibe to your map.
Custom actors and textures are permitted, but anything that changes the gameplay experience (specifically, weapons and classes) are forbidden.
The stage must have at least three logos of your chosen fortress. These are the "Dr. W" textures you see in walls or on pillars through a fortress stage.
This time, the Item Of The Day is Wire Adaptor. Your stage must have Wire Adaptor somewhere in it, and it must be obtainable through normal gameplay.
Other than that, you're free to do whatever your heart desires and your mind can think of. The deadline is September 16th at 12:00 midnight PST (3AM EST). Though you could technically submit an older map and I would be none the wiser, the general idea is to make a new map or to retool and highly improve an older map; "remix" it, if you will. Please submit your maps through Cutmail or Skype. All maps collected before the deadline will be put together in an Expo Pack for immediate download once the event is finished, unless opted out of by request. Any inclusion to other map packs or collaborations is solely up to the mapper(s) in question, and will never be performed or implied without permission.
Have fun, and get to mapping! We officially start August 12th, due to the release of 8BDM v3b.

so I got started (http://cutstuff.net/forum/viewtopic.php?p=253016#p253016)
I thought that custom wall texture would look bad but it actually renders rather nicely
