Hello, it's a little topic to think, what do you think about the future of megaman.
I think, Capcom showed some things positive for the serie, like the SFxMM (even if it's not so good lol) goodies and now the multi-albums remix. Yeah, we didnt have a megaman next gen since the battle network but I think, he can be back like Strider (actually new game) where they said "Heroes doesnt die" or something like that. Duck Tales too, who though Ducktales could be back?
I think, Capcom doesnt want make a game only for the fans of megaman style, 2D, 8 robotmasters, a story why not...even if you want HD, they dont care because the only concept who can work can be a Rockman Online style (but Neowiz did a stand by for this game or canceled the project, it wasnt by capcom, i hope they can do something with the files of the game...)
Megaman 9 and 10 had great sales but it's not enough for capcom, im pretty sure, if capcom make a next gen gam for megaman, like a game with graphism like Monster Hunter and a new gameplay concept (rockman online or MMU mix), it can be better
MMU was pretty cool but too ugly and basic for me, but the concept was cool but not sure The sales can be huge with this game.
Anyways, Megaman universe and Legend 3 were the project of Inafune Keiji, when he left capcom, capcom didnt want continue the project because no more team on that (Inafune wanted keep his team with Inti Creates for the Comcept thing). Not sure about the last sentence, but i think, we are mad against capcom, but it's more complicate than that, and we can be more positive.
Let's wait, Capcom need certainly a new team to make GREAT megaman games, and not only megaman-like, we need to keep the soul of the serie, so be patient and have a great game (i really would want a new Rockman Online with more characters playable..Even if it's not "online", the graphism and the concept were really nice)
And Capcom doesnt want make a basic 8boss mm classic HD games, even if it's like mm&bass or mm8....They need to do a great game for the world, not only the fan.
I think, after the special albums, some things can appear, slowly.
Capcom is a big company, they wont care about Mighty 9 because it's just a 8 boss type HD style, it can be cool, but not huge, they can do better than that....
If they wanted no more megaman games, they could sell the franchise quickly anyways.
Mighty 9 is cool but im more for a new megaman next gen game (2D-3D specially) with megaman.
Anyways, for now, play the fangames, it's cool too :q
KEEP THE FAITH =D

If this is implying Crapcom is making Might No. 9, they aren't. Comcept is, who I presume is lead by Inafune himself.
If not, then apologies.

I don't think he is. Personally I don't really have faith anymore. I rather the series go to sleep for a few years before an attempted revival.

I hope Team cutstuff will keep the faith for mm8bdm then
Some fangames are so cool, i hope it wont break it.....
I wait a lot Megaman 2.5D too, Co-op revealed, it can be so fun.....but if people lose the passion with time because "no games, what will happen?... :(
-
I'm looking forward to Megaman 2.5D as well, seems like a great game!
But fangames like Revolution and Unlimited fall waaaaaaaay too short of the Megaman mark. They didn't have the feel of a "Megaman Game." They just felt like games.
I'm not sure about RockForce, I've pretty much given up on Classic Fangames.
The only Fangames I look forward to are Megaman Revenge of the Fallen and somewhat Perfect Harmony.
Hopefully Capcom decides to make a new game.
At least one.
-
Don't get me wrong, I'll continue to push forward with MM8BDM. But right now I think there are way too many uptight fans for capcom to please anyone. If Mega Man were to take a break for a few years and then make a return, it would probably be more successful.
-
Yep, indeed for the break, it can be something good because the fans become sometimes crazy and dont know what They want....
(specially, when i see the comments on facebook, on capcom pages, it's scaring....they are so mad! O___O )
-
Uptight? Okay, at most, I'd want a Legends 3 revival. At LEAST an actual mega man GAME and not a spinoff of any kind.
-
I'll agree with Ivory. The Rockman franchise needs to be put to sleep for a long while because Capcom is too drunk on money, so they will most likely not make a new Rockman game because those don't make a lot of money. If they do though, the way Capcom is right now will compromise development costs and freedoms for a Rockman/Mega Man game, since it doesn't make much money, so we will get a crappy product, and I don't want more crappy videogame products being promoted with the Rockman/Mega Man brand...I couldn't handle seeing that happen again.
So to answer the topic: no, they don't, they shouldn't, and hopefully they won't for a while. Fangames will have to make the cut for now, and it actually is a most fitting final destiny for the Rockman franchise: it lives on through the love of its fans. I don't need a new Capcom-approved Rockman/Mega Man game to show that I love the brand, and I will not support one until the Capcom we've seen lately does a 180 turn.

It's sad to think about it, but I agree that ANY new Mega Man game project by Capcom is going to face heavy criticism. I keep hearing things along the line of "we DESERVE an awesome Mega Man game because of these cancellations" and no matter what Capcom comes up with, it's not going to please everybody. Personally, I would want them to try because I'd love to see all different kinds of takes, from new anniversary collections to remasterings to new sequels or even new series. But again, that's just my personal desire.
Specifically, you have groups like the hardcore MMLegends fans which have a lot of people who want one game in particular. While I would love to see MML3 too, it feels like any Mega Man related news (or news on any Capcom games) immediately risks backlash from fans who demand solely MML3, which is awful. Regarding that, Mighty No. 9 is able to be spun in a much more positive light because while it's still Mega Man-ish, it also isn't being made by the company which many feel scorned by.

It's exactly the problem... :/

Fans who aren't arrogant pricks will be satisfied with a legit main series game. No matter what series it is. I'll even take a Star Force 3DS at this rate. I'm not all that picky about this right? The very most I could ask for is a MML3 revival--the very least is just a main series game. Is that picky? Honestly, it's not is it?
-
I honestly wouldn't be too suprised if, depending on Ducktails sales numbers, if they did turn around and do HD remakes of the classics. Maybe MMV, just for a twist.
-
If they did an HD Remix of a Megaman game, it would likely be 2. They already made Powered Up, and 2 was obviously the most popular game, and - more importantly - the best selling.
-
Sadly, 2 wasn't well designed.
A Powered Up 2 could really fix what was wrong.
-
I'd love a bigass anniversary game that has like every classic Megaman game up to 10, all of which have the option to have enhanced graphics/sound of some sort (Wily Wars, Megaman 8, etc).
Alas, 'tis probably the biggest pipedream anybody could have at this point. Especially if you live in Britain, considering the first bloody collection...
Alternately, a powered-up series would also be great! But yeah, Capcom don't really seem to be making games for the sake of making games anymore, so it's yet another pipedream.
Oh well, at least we have the board game, amirite? Brb, donating all my money to the kickstarter! No, I'm not.

Thank... you...
Also, don't forget the Mega Man X collection.
