This is absolutely hilarious. The idea is that you can bet on AIvsAI MUGEN matches with random characters with funny money called SaltyBucks. The real entertainment value, however, is in the chat and in the odd fights that result when you fold Sturgeon's Law back in on itself. For example, I just watched a match of Tonberry vs. EVA-00 where the match was decided by one whiffed Longinus toss that sent everyone betting to the salt mines.

I used to watch it, but I kind of grew tired of it. Did they ever do something to improve the character selection or is it still entirely random outside of tournaments? I think my problem with it was that when I was watching it, like 85% of the matches I could catch were squash matches, so not only were they usually not entertaining, you couldn't earn anything off of them also. The chat was another thing I didn't like, unless its gotten better also. Most of the time when I could catch it, it was the standard stupid "lol always bet on waifu" style crap, sometimes it got a lot worse (people trying to be edgy but failing miserably I hope), but the reactions from a match like you were talking about were always fun.

Weirdly addictive, although the chat is populated by many mongs.

The character roster is also all sorts of broken, which is a downer.

Currently rolling in $36 after losing $250 on Dr. Whyly. And remember kids, NEVER BET DBZ.

NEVER BET DBZ.
To clarify:

Nearly all of the Dragon Ball characters in SaltyBet are awful and will lose horribly if they're pit against anyone even marginally less badly-made than they are. The characters that are worth betting on are all tiny, hence the second rule of SaltyBet: the smaller a DBZ character is, the less DBZ it has and the better it is.

EDIT: Also, never underestimate MSPaint characters, they can be incredibly overpowered when given a chance. Dooby Dummy in particular is real as hell.

I bet on a Chaotzu character once because he was literally hidden from view by the stage, his name was wrong, and the other character was a poorly made Naruto character. He lost.

Needless to say, the small DBZ character rule should be taken with a grain of salt. If it looks decently animated and doesn't have a 12 year old sounding name, then you might have a chance.

A few of the "poorly-made" DBZ characters have "poorly-made" beams that can OHKO at times. That's if they'd even use them. : P

It's total chaos in there. I wonder, do they ever do 2v2 matches? I know MUGEN has the support for it.

Back when I was watching, 2v2 matches would sometimes show up during the exhibition matches after the Thursday tournaments. The guy who runs the stream would take audience suggestions for matches, and those sometimes end up with 2v2 matches. Normally it's 1v1 though.

Bets are broken. Chat is going into salt widthdrawal and talking about assorted fetishes. Choice (and worksafe beyond obligatory profanity) lines quoted out of context below.
