Title: Pokemon Showdown Tournament
Post by: Orange juice :l on November 23, 2013, 05:50:48 AM
The tournament is ready to begin!
Click here to view the bracket. (http://challonge.com/Peus)
The format for the tournament will be Pokebank OU.
Post results here and, if possible, replay links. I realize that Showdown's replay service is rather shifty at the moment.

Remember that this is Double Elimination- you can lose once and keep going, but two losses and it's over!

---------------
With the recent hype of Pokemon X and Y starting to slow down, now seems like a good time as ever to bring back the Cutstuff Pokemon Tournaments. There's four major tiers for now (because there's no UU/RU/etc for Gen 6 yet), but if you have another favorite, feel free to post it. The tournament will be held in the tier that wins the poll, which closes in 10 days (or earlier if we start the tournament).

Only major rule is that your team may not change any species- moves, EVs, formes, items, etc are all fair game.
Additionally, please click "save replay" and save the link once you finish a match. It'll serve as proof in case there's ever a conflict.

The tournament will be held on Pokemon Showdown (http://pokemonshowdown.com/) (Direct link to the client (http://play.pokemonshowdown.com/)). To sign up, just post your PS! name and your times available. If we can get an even 8 players, we'll do a Double Elimination Bracket (through Challonge if possible).

As it stands, my favorite format of the ones listed is VGC; call me a heretic, but I like the semi-purity the rule of "Kalos 'dex only" offers to the game. There are no crazy events or past Move Tutors or anything to worry about, and it still allows room for Hidden Abilities and the new mechanics (move buffs, Fairy type, Mega Evolution) that Gen 6 has to offer. Also I'm a sucker for alternative battle styles; if there were a Rotation Battle set-up I'd be going nuts over it, but I doubt such a thing exists for "competitive" play.

Ask the people who decided to vote without joining. :ugeek:

Regardless, we're ready to begin- check the top of the OP for all the relevant information!

Played Mabinogi; 4-0 my favor.

Very well played bruv

Replays aren't available because of a server move though so that's unfortunate

Close battle with Gummywormz, but I lost.

Was quite fun, though. I still need to learn the new Pokemon (and type chart) better.

Do you have any sources that state the "cheaters" were, in fact, voting for Pokebank? :|

I'll tell you what I told KD- have a Pokebank OU team ready by 11:59 PM EST on the 25th or the other player gets a bye.

And in the ensuing match, a close encounter of the Burter kind transpired.

5-0 my favor.

Well played, Smash.

 I'll let it slide since it wasn't clear that the first round was a tournament match, but for the rest of the matches, stick with the same team. Keeps people from building full counter teams and silly stuff like that.

KD won 3-0 after a 150 turn stallfest

Alright, I'll keep that in mind, but thanks for not locking me into that silly Monopsychic team I had  :p

SmashBroPlusB and I battled it out.

I won 4-0.

Good game, Smash.

Since there's only one match that needs to happen for the tournament to move on, I'll set the deadline at November 29th, 11:59 PM EST.

I won vs Chuggaafan 3 - 0. Again, no replay but logs and a video were saved.

If you don't mind, I'd like to step down. If I continue on and beat both KD and Mani, I'd just end up fighting Gummy, who I know I'd lose to.

Won 1-0 against King Dumb. That was some clutch shit, man.

Alright, I let you change teams once because of a miscommunication, but you're going to have to redo this match. Why?

Last match, against Ceridran:
Manibogi's team:
Smeargle / Absol / Keldeo / Wobbuffet / Victini / Meloetta

This match, against King Dumb:
Manibogi's team:
Bouffalant / Ditto / Heracross / Wobbuffet / Victini / Meloetta

In short, redo your battle with King Dumb with the team:

Won vs KD 4 - 0. Here's a replay for once: http://pokemonshowdown.com/replay/pokeb ... a-68528448 (http://pokemonshowdown.com/replay/pokebankoubeta-68528448)

Post by: Orange juice :l on December 08, 2013, 11:20:00 PM
Gummy and I afterwards battled and I won 2-0. I forgot to save the replay, but by the time I found the room again (pokebankoubeta-68532594) it had already been cleared ;____________;7

I suppose that ends this tournament, but I've been getting some PMs from people interested in remaking the Cutstuff League. If eight or so people are interested in making a Monotype League that would be open to the public to challenge, I'll look into setting one up. Post here if you want to look more into it!

Even though I'm utterly awful at competitive crap, doing simple gym leader stuff is simple enough of being bad.
It's neat.

I'm interested, but I suck at this, so I probably wouldn't apply to be a gym leader.
Title: Re: Pokemon Showdown Tournament
Post by: Ceridran on December 09, 2013, 04:07:39 PM
Why are we even talking about this gym leader thing now

though if it was showdown based I might consider because mono-dark team

Post by: Orange juice :l on December 09, 2013, 04:27:10 PM
Yeah, it'll be Showdown based, and don't worry if you aren't that good- everybody starts somewhere, including league challengers.

Will probably have something set up for people who want to be both a leader and a challenger, though.
