Title: Starbound!
Post by: Galactan on December 24, 2013, 01:31:26 AM
I'm sure that by now most of you have heard about or even gotten Sterboond Starbound (http://playstarbound.com/), the new Terraria-ish game.  If you haven't, I'd suggest taking a look at it.  Anyway, this thread is for general discussion of the game.  If you've found any interesting planets, creatures, or crashes; or if you've got something that you particularly like about the game, post it here.

IN THIS CURRENT VERSION

Trying to use an instrument will cause a crash.

Well i hope they fixed that by now while they where fixing the bug where placed chests would generate new items on their own accord, even though the PLAYER placed them, not the world.

Hm, did they add any form of security yet for ships? I'd try multiplayer if it weren't for the fact anyone in the same group can enter your ship, rob it of all its contents and even jam it full of junk, if they feel like it. Which is rather unfortunate given how much i tend to packrat into my ship, its also my base of operations and manufacturing. :P

I'm getting slightly frustrated by the wipes. I really want to boot my old character up, but the upcoming wipe just makes me apprehensive about it.
On the topic of races, I really like the Glitch. Albeit their final armor is a bit... weird (so many eyes). After the wipe, I think I'll try an Apex.

I suppose pretty much everybody is waiting for the wipe. My first character was an Apex and I'll be making a Floran after the wipe, because world domination.

My first character was also an Apex and I intend to remain an Apex come the wipe.

It should also fix these optimization issues that somehow restrict my ability to speak in Skype calls after a certain time.

At this point I'm just waiting for a control editor.
WASD and E to use things is incredibly akward, even if I can use middle click.

Also making the game not unbearably laggy might be nice since precision jumps are dickishly impossible hnng

I managed to fix my lag problems with a couple of easy steps. I used to run 25 fps and now run a smooth 75.
I'm going to presume you're using Windows.
Directions as follows:
-Navigate to the win32 folder located within the root of your Starbound folder, the path should look like this:
C:Program FilesSteamsteamappscommonStarboundwin32
-Make a copy of the following two files and place them in a convenient location such as your Desktop:
starbound.exe & starbound_opengl.exe
-Back in your win32 folder, delete the original starbound.exe file (hence the backup on your Desktop)
-Still in the win32 folder, rename starbound_opengl.exe to starbound.exe (yes, you're renaming it as the same file you just deleted).

With all that said and done you should be good to go. Go ahead and run the Starbound launcher and run Starbound normally (not the OpenGL button obviously).
If that didn't help then I'm sorry to have wasted your time.

I got the Game now
Well i didnt liked Minecraft but this shit is serious

The Best part about it, is , that everyone is still able to help making a even better game out of it.
Not just easy Mods with Visuals(Armors&other cute things) but Big Enhancements for Bigger Wars between Clans(serious stuff).
Or a proper Enhancement for Skills & Abilitys.

The Game is still Beta

So everyone could help making the Game better instead of just Modding it for the sake of a Modding section...
Like this the Community grows.
Modding is cool too just for adding One Armor you just have to add like a Megaman Armor or a Skyrim helmet if you just have to.
And if it is just a Costume it wouldnt bother anyone since you have a Tier Equip & Costume Inventory ( Instead of Godlike OP Weapons&Armors )

I nearly have no lagging experience and i see pretty much people having problems. thats Sad
God Bless my Internet Provider

If there should be a Cutstuff Community Server i would join, just to say :D

bump (no other choice since this is a topic on the before you post page), but I used a glitch character and found a beast with a humanoid body, an animal skull, and an axe for a tail.

This is a fantastic ship mod that I highly recommend everyone try out. Just be sure to set aside any .shipworld files you'd like to keep once you're through with this mod.

So many mods, I cant decide which ones I want to use, I was making my own species mod but I stopped since it started bugging out on me since I used a template race to make it.
