Title: License Games That Are Good!
Post by: -FiniteZero- on January 11, 2014, 12:54:35 AM
Movie (or TV or Comic) based games have a reputation that is less than desirable. But, once in a blue moon, you'll get a game that not only replicates the feel of the movie, but is actually quite fun! This thread is dedicated to those games. Just list the title, the platform of the game, and a description of why the game is fun.

Game: Batman Begins
Platform: Gamecube, Xbox, Playstation 2
Why it's fun: This game is pretty much a precursor to the excellent Arkham series. While it does not have the Detective mode or an open world, it does do the thing a great Batman game does: Makes you feel like you are Batman. Specifically in this case, the Batman from the Dark Knight trilogy, who is more of a badass ninja than a badass detective (which I have no problem with, myself). You must utilize the element of fear in order to help take out foes and gain a reputation. It's a very fun game that feels similar to the Arkham games, but still has its own identity. I wish there were console games based on the two other games of the trilogy.

Tigger's Honey Hunt is still one of the best 2.5D platforming games I ever played.
Actually, it was my very first one.

This, along with Toy Story 2, were among the few Playstation/License Games that I enjoyed as a lad and still enjoy today. (Tigger's Honey Hunt not so much because.. well.. >_>, Toy Story 2 is still amazing imo to this day.)

Oh right descriptions: I feel like I'd have words for this since I grew up with it, but it's just something you'd have to experience. Lasers, powerups, and bosses. Airport shennaners, Toy stores, even the inside of an apartment for stages. Just go play it.

Spiderman the Game (Xbox)

I liked the fact that you could swing around freely and fight not only the green goblin who was the only villain in the movie, but other villains like Kraven and Shocker.

I remember these ones being good:

Spiderman 2: Enter Electro (PS1)

This game was really well made, and you get access to a lot of Spiderman's abilities. Missions are interesting and varied, combat is done pretty well, quite a bit of variety, etc. Honestly, this is a game I need to revisit.

Pink Panther: Pinkadilic Pursuit (PS1)

2D platformer where you play as the Pink Panther (which was one of the best cartoons ever). Very well done for the most part (though sense of direction is a bit lacking) and it's very faithful to the show where possible.

Those are the only 2 that come to mind.

The Star Wars Battlefront series falls here. Not going to add any info that isn't already in it's own thread.
