Hello everyone.I want to play Mega Man 8-bit Deathmatch, but I'm skeptical about if this game has any viruses on it.
So,I ask this question, this very question. Is MM8BDM in the latest version have any viruses attached to it? :?
-
no
MM8BDM has no viruses.
None at all.
0% of this brilliant game is malicious computer-altering software.
If it had viruses, would you think we'd all be on this forum?
If it had viruses, would you think we'd all be talking about the game, playing the game, and creating new content for the game?
Of course not!
Although, some antiviruses MAY go a little nuts about the launcher, but it's always a false alarm, TRUST ME.
seriously, I helped with the latest update for the core game, I should know if it was viruses or not

It does not. Make sure you download the latest version from the official website (the one you're on now, cutstuff.net) and you should be good to go. Some anti-viruses have issues with my launcher as it tries to download a banner displaying updates and such. If possible, try to make your antivirus software not quarantine MM8BDM.exe.
I cannot stress though, DO NOT download it from non-cutstuff links as I've seen MM8BDM versions include their own shady launchers which may be harmful to your computer. Here's a direct link to the download if you want to be safe: http://www.cutstuff.net/files/MM8BDM-v4a.zip (http://www.cutstuff.net/files/MM8BDM-v4a.zip)

By that logic people shouldn't be downloading from MM8BDM's main page which links to mega.co.nz
-
Thanks,Cutman Mike.Now,how do I unzip the file? :?
-
Right click on the ZIP, look for "extract".

It's a mirror to save my bandwidth usage, I hope I shouldn't have to explain that on every page with the link

That reminded me of that banner that called out for donations to keep Cutstuff running...
BANDWIDTH BEAM!
But yeah, the only virus MM8BDM could potentially have is Roboenza, and that won't happen until MM10 expansion :D

The virus isn't a false alarm to Norton apparently. So each time try time I launch the exe, Norton deletes it automatically everytime except when i restart and go to the exe as fast as I can. This is a serious problem. :(

Norton has exceptions for that type of thing...
The game itself is clean to everything, but the launcher uses a strange method to download the banner so it often gets flagged as a virus. It's clean, so all you really need to do is add an exception for MM8BDM.exe and it will no longer do that.
...Not to mention...Norton isn't exactly classified as a "good" antivirus anyway...
