Title: Suggestion: OUYA Compatibility?
Post by: Blackbando on May 25, 2014, 08:21:05 PM
Hi, I was wondering if MM8BDM might possibly go on the OUYA console,
I think it would certainly open up MM8BDM to a lot of people who had not known about it before, and would most likely increase popularity, If it IS eventually, perhaps new features would be added? (Such as split-screen etc.)

Please Respond back,
-Blackbando

Considering MM8BDM runs based on Zandronum, it would be unlikely for it to be able to be ported to the OUYA unless Zandronum had compatibility for it without creating the game again entirely from scratch. MM8BDM is not standalone and requires Zandronum in order to run.

MM8BDM is rather more of a PC oriented game, really.

Porting it to console would take eons, and the popularity might bring in some undesired types of players.

Well, Both of you DO have good points, But then again, there is a few things I have to counter with,
1. Doom has gone on consoles, and seeing as MM8BDM is a mod of Zandronum which is meant to be like Doom, It could work.
2. They could probably add a banning system for online,
However, Lego, You DO have a point about Zandronum not being on consoles yet.

Doom isn't nearly as complex as ZDoom and the daughter ports (including ZDR).

The source ports are very complicated and the teams for the respective ports have to worry about updating the PC version, now they're gonna worry about a Console version, too?

It could happen, but it's very unlikely.

There isn't even a port of base ZDoom for ARM processors. Porting it to Android / Ouya would pretty much take a complete rewrite.

Also, MM8BDM would play badly on a console considering the limited controls.

That, and a good number of console "gamers" would turn down the game for its graphics. There's too many people who only care about graphics these days. I mean, don't get me wrong, games can look pretty stunning and then I feel my heart kinda jump, even happens with mods that have improves graphics in comparison to vanilla. However, so many people don't care about the actual gameplay.

Plus, if anything, we'll probably draw in some CoD players. Then again, their love for modern weaponry might make them flood Unreal Wep servers solely due to how it has real guns. I suppose that's a good thing, though.

Man, CoD players in 8BDM.

It'll be the "Homie Disaster" all over again.

Knowing 8BDM and Zandro's devs, this will NEVER happen, thank goodness.
