Do people actually still care about that game
-
Of course Legends fans would still care about it! Not much else to it.
-
But why is it 8-bit?

But why is it 8-bit?
That's what I asked when this whole project started.
I figure they made it 8-bit because it's easier to do than full 3D or full sprite-work. It's the only explanation I can think of.
-
and because 8 bit style is liked (mm9-10)...so yeah :q
Not sure if i will play it...i wait more (and a lot) Megaman X Corrupted, there is the MM Unlimited Endless stage who is released too!
-
8-bit style makes sense for classic Mega Man, because it started there and its best games were 8-bit.
It's idiotic to make the other games into 8-bit, because they never were that style in the first place. Making Mega Man fan-games 8-bit has become so cliché that it's being done with games that it really shouldn't.
I understand a 2D approach to the fangame, because 3D is more difficult. But doing anything short of full spritework is just being lazy and unfitting.
If they at least called it something OTHER than Legends 3, maybe Legends Classic (or Dash Classic, since it's Japanese), then I wouldn't have as much problem with it as I do.

I'm at the very least happy SOMETHING is happening within the Megaman community.
-
Personally, I'm very excited about this! Here's why:
It includes new, exclusive artwork by Hideki Ishikawa (http://megaman.wikia.com/wiki/Hideki_Ishikawa), one of the main artists for the Mega Man Legends series (and other Mega Man games)
It has new music tracks composed by Makoto Tomozawa (http://capcom.wikia.com/wiki/Makoto_Tomozawa), the main composer behind Mega Man Legends 1 and 2 (+Other Mega Man and Capcom games)
The game was programmed by Tarbo (aka "Megacocorock"), the talent behind other Mega Man fan games like Roll-chan (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2QkYQzwhThs)
It's an impressive fully fan-fueled game that shows support for both Legends 3 and the Mega Man series
I like Mega Man games
It looks like it's going to be a lot of fun, and as someone who spent many nights eagerly crawling the Devroom forums, I'm psyched to have a game where I can explore more of the Legends 3 world. Furthermore, I appreciate all the effort that's gone into this project... it's one thing to hear fans say they're going to make something, and something else entirely to be delivering a finished game!
I can understand wanting something beyond 8-bit style when it comes to Mega Man games, but as a fellow fangame developer I also understand being resourceful. This team simply chose a style, stuck with it, and finished a complete game in a little over a year. To me, that's heartfelt dedication, not laziness.

Optimism!
I'm really glad to see some positive energy in here! I too am looking forward to play it. I am a pretty big Legends fan!
I wasn't aware of Tarbo's involvement in this so this could be pretty darn interesting!
-
Oh.
Well in that case, this might actually be pretty darn good! I was kinda indifferent before, but seeing the people running this show has gotten me interested. I'm a bit of a Legends fan myself.
-
I might even have to play it as well but I will wait to get a win7 desktop pc with 4gb ram

Just found out Heat Man worked on the translation (http://daheatman.tumblr.com/post/95145243952/the-2d-ver-of-the-mega-man-legends-3-prototype), which is supe cool!

-
That was a pretty good short game!
The Bonne fight was quite tough, I must say.
-
Oh god Trigger's hair... I understand 8-bit limitations but that looks next to nothing like it should.
Other than that great game, as short as it is. I still don't understand why they took the 8-bit approach at all, regardless of how sexy it looks, sounds, and plays, but it's still nice to see how the prologue would've went.
-
Haha, I had a tough time with the Bonne fight until I used the Dive Kick. Makes it much, MUCH easier!
I agree about Trigger's hair; maybe I'm wrong, but the NES color palette has at least ONE brown color, right? Maybe they felt it'd stick out too much, or Tarbo wanted to stick to his traditional sprite (there's an old video he has featuring a similar looking Trigger sprite).
Again, I feel the 8-bit approach was taken because that's what the programmer (Tarbo) is familiar with. Anything beyond that gameplay, art, or music-wise would have increased both the difficulty and time needed to create this project, one that was already working with an extremely limited budget and limited time frame (the game was made to celebrate Mega Man's 25th anniversary). One of the (very few) example of a Mega Man game going beyond 8-bit, Mega Man X: Corrupted, has been in development for over 5 years now. Any fan-project like this is something that the developers are having to work on while dealing with school/work/life, so it's very admirable in my eyes to plan and complete something in a year.
Anyways, thanks cool dudes for playing the game. It was pretty tough for me to get through it, but it was also exciting and rewarding to see the cool art and hear music both familiar and new. I can't help but still hope for a day when we'll see the return of Legends 3.

Wait... what does the Trigger sprite even look like?
