http://www.romhacking.net/hacks/851/ (http://www.romhacking.net/hacks/851/) Exactly what is says on the tin. This game revolves around Megaman dying and the Angry Video Game Nerd going after Wily's tougher robot master stages. The game is fun and the stages are exceptionally (http://fi.somethingawful.com/safs/smilies/0/f/moreevil.001.gif) . Airman is now exceptionally dickish.

I remember trying to blindly race this hack with a few others at one point and it was terrible.
Really don't dive into this one if you want something new, it's literally the same level layouts with 100% more pits and dickmoves.
TERRIBLE.

It reminds me now of classicvania!

I've played this and tell you the truth, it's nearly imppossible to play without using save states (of course it's awesome at the same time). I found a curious bug

I found a curious bug
What kind of bug? Ladybug, ant, caterpillar?
-
It occurs in airman's boss room. In the hack this boss room is modified, there are 2 bottomless pits along the stage. Now, if you defeat airman and you fall in one of these pits, you'll die and the game will stick until you reset or use a save state

Nothing spells better level design than to take existing levels and putting random pits everywhere, right?

Yes, you can put pits in devious places to make a good rom hack, it was intended to be difficult by putting bottomless pits everywhere. There are also lowered ceilings in heat man's stage. It is called game design.
-
It is not called good game design, though.
-
In essence, bottomless pits and spikes are called "Cheap" difficulty, as it is easy to put them everywhere to make the game harder.
-
It's one thing to add pits in devious places. It's another thing to put pits literally everywhere. In every non-scrolling screen, there is at least two-three pits. If the screen scrolls, expect to see at least twice as much. Adding onto the fact that they literally just cut several portions of the stage off for the sake of difficulty, it looks visually unappealing. Take Flashman's stage for example:

It's one thing to put pits everywhere, but could they at least fix the textures so it doesn't look like they just took a knife to the platforms?

And then this. Look at those shadows under the platforms, then look at the ones under where the platforms should be. This is not normal.
There are also lowered ceilings in heat man's stage.
[12:58:38 PM] Yuri Sakazaki ?: So low, that you are FORCED to walk through the lava
[12:58:47 PM] Yuri Sakazaki ?: by constantly getting hit by tellies for invincibility time
[12:58:59 PM] Yuri Sakazaki ?: "Good game design"?
[12:59:45 PM] Smash The Echidna: no way
[12:59:46 PM] Smash The Echidna: as if.
[1:00:19 PM] Yuri Sakazaki ?: Seriously, go check it out and see for yourself
[1:00:25 PM] Yuri Sakazaki ?: It's VERY early in the stage
[1:00:29 PM] Yuri Sakazaki ?: and it goes on for what feels forever
[1:03:06 PM] Smash The Echidna: how are you supposed to make that last jump though
[1:03:16 PM] Smash The Echidna: even if you get hit and jump into the lava,
[1:03:20 PM] Smash The Echidna: it's a lavafall
[1:03:21 PM] Smash The Echidna: a pit
[1:03:28 PM] Yuri Sakazaki ?: Ugh, I don't know
all-in-all, this felt like a very lazy, bootlegged attempt at making a game (with already unfair mechanics in some places (looking at you, boobeam trap.)) harder. I did not have fun playing this at all.

Saiya game design
Thank you.
The lowered ceiling in Heatman's stage isn't exactly good game design either. You're forced to constantly take damage by tellies to cross the lava. How is this good game design?
Not to mention Wily 1, which forces you to use Item 2 at the beginning of the stage, and you need every last bit of energy to cross it, while pipis come in to drop things on you. So, to pass this section, you need to use all of Item 2 and pray to god that the pipi doesn't enter from the right side of the screen otherwise you're boned. Have fun dying over and over to game over so you can refill that Item 2!

The game design, OF THE SAIYA PEEPO
[1:05:01 PM] Smash The Echidna: you should not have a luck based level
[1:05:19 PM] Smash The Echidna: in a game that punishes you for dying
[1:05:23 PM] Smash The Echidna: by NOT REFILLING YOUR AMMO
Especially when you need a specific weapon/item to proceed.
'Nuff said. Yer welcome.

I never said "good game design" I said that you can make a good rom hack with devious bottomless pits. I mean it has flaws, yes. But it is still better than the bootleg pocket monster platformer for the nes.
