Hi there. In case you've missed it, 4chan has been exploding over a certain "game" called Depression Quest. It's basically a bunch of web pages about how life is HAAARD, nothing special, but the real story is about what its developer, Zoe Quinn, did to get it out in the open. First, she faked being harrassed by an imageboard for virgins called Wizardchan to get the game Greenlit on Steam. (http://imgur.com/a/NwQcT) Normally, this would just be standard PR tactics, nothing to raise hell about. Then her ex-boyfriend came forward with some more interesting news: She had exchanged sexual favors with five men from Kotaku in exchange for positive press about Depression Quest and possibly some money on Patreon. Nearly immediately afterward, the story suddenly vanished. Everywhere it was posted, 4chan, Reddit, wherever, it was simply evaporating. Even the Internet Archive was playing along. But these people explain it much better than I ever could:
There are also some pastebins and posts on the subject; I've compiled them here, but they're /v/'s words, not mine:
http://pastebin.com/1FyYefmC (http://pastebin.com/1FyYefmC) (General infodump)
http://pastebin.com/eyaAT6At (http://pastebin.com/eyaAT6At) (A really detailed article detailing exactly why Kotaku is morally bankrupt, and why Zoe is not and should not be anything other than the catalyst that blew this issue apart)
HOW YOU CAN HELP:
Just spam the story as far and wide as you can, like I'm doing right now. If you have a Twitter account, use it: make the hashtag #FiveGuysBurgersAndLies a trending topic worldwide. The faster we can get this into the mainstream media, the better.

13/10, fucking fantastic. It's the whole Dina No.9 business all over again.
Even if you ignore everything else in Balrog's post, do yourself a favor and sit through the video.

If you want to follow this as it happens, get to the Rizon.net IRC server and join #burgersandfries. Check the /v/ threads too, though they're kinda insane.
EDIT: Someone just brought this to my attention, not important but still funny:
-
if I wanted this i would go on some cancerous forum not here. Why is this thread even allowed?
-
Tengu confirmed in on the sexual deviancy, trying to censor the truth

>caring about video game journalism this much

Because video games. Also >implying this forum isn't as cancerous as any other
>caring about video game journalism this much
Hey, we've got one chance to wreck shit here. One chance to maybe change something. It could be better, it could be exactly the same, it could even be worse, but what's important is that we at least try to disrupt the collection of ad agencies that is video game "journalism".
Also, it's a shitstorm, and everyone loves a good shitstorm. If nothing else, sit back and enjoy the lulz with a nice hot cup of Haterade.

Kotaku
Come oooooooooooooooooooooon.
You give a man a burguer, and he's happy. You don't give a man a burguer, they mix you up into a neet-driven manchildren conspiracy about videogames and news.

Uhhh i'm sorry but what exactly is so bad about Zoe Quinn i just need some specifics.
-
>implying this forum isn't as cancerous as any other
Well to be fair the only cancer I really see around here at the moment is you.
But besides that, if you're actually trying to compare these forums to something like 4chan there's something the matter with you.
All I'm saying is that this thread doesn't belong here in my opinion.
-
These forums are pretty cancerous though
-
No from what i have seen we are not "cancerous" we are mature friendly people and we should intend to keep it that way here.

Spot the lie.
This is a topic in very bad taste and shouldn't really be anywhere except leddit.
-
Bottom line, I don't think anybody really cares about this or really wants to spread this around. I agree with Tengu that this feels out of place.
-
I gave it a shot because I was optimistic "who knows, maybe this will go somewhere positive"
But this doesn't appear to be going that route, so, bye thread.
