I'm thinking of having a little release party for anyone who wants to grab MM8BDM as soon as the upload hits 100% (WHEN I upload it, not yet!)
Any suggestions? IRC chatroom? Live stream?

What's wrong with hosting a puplic server but you need a password to join the game.

I would love to join an irc channel, or perhaps even a Skype call!
Skype would be awesome, personally, but I don't think it'd work out that well since Skype has a 24 user max (I think it was 24, or maybe that limit is just for calls? I'm not 100% sure) at a time. So probably IRC would be a little better. What irc server would you host it on?

i'm good at being loud and obnoxious over skype! i think mike and all us other devs should do some kind of Q&A stream or something BUT WITH SKYPE and BROTOAD

I say we just host a public server (with password) and have a Skype/Vent room available for everyone to cram into and chat.

Also, a skype party sounds fun, I guess. I don't think I would have the guts to talk though, I don't know if my voice is still girly over microphone as it usually is.

A stream should show a bit of the single-player campaign, to wet up our appetites. After the game is done uploading and everyone promptly snatches up their own individual copies, the stream should (maybe?) switch over to a view of the MM8BDM Release Party Server. Then, there are two options... One, join the server and kick some serious robot ass, while text chatting with others, or... Two, watch the matches via the stream and chat with others who are spectating.

I'm right behind the live stream, the Skype party and the IRC chat. All of them. At the same time.
Also, that password-protected server is also a good idea. Just post the password here in the forums and don't tell anyone. That way, only the forums-goers get to join the party server :3

If I can't get more than 50 people in a live stream I'll do an IRC chat and stick embeds all over my site so you can't miss it!

Hey If it's a 24/7 stream of the full MM8BDM Release Party, Then I'll be in most of them. After that I'll be streaming. If you stream on Ustream like I do, I'm gonna co-stream your stream. So uh.. what do you think?

If it was an IRC, all you'd need to do is hop on Mibbit. No download necessary.
Instead of just a single time deal channel, we should keep the channel up and just make it #cutstuff or something like that.

Hey everyone, been lurking around these forums for a while and just now decided to register. Been playing this for about 2 weeks now and I gotta say there isn't a game release I'm looking forward to more than this.
Anyways, from the fact that you're planning the release party I gather that the moment draws fairly close, and you can bet I'll be there (not that most would notice, heh).
I'm known as "Spam Man" in-game, not sure if I've met any of you on the servers before, but I'd be up for playing most any time. Hope to see you guys in-game, and good luck with the long awaited release!

I saw you on a server, SuperGoomba, but I believe I couldn't join because they weren't using the newest version of Skulltag.
If you don't have it yet, download the newest version. Its in one of Mike's blog posts. You won't be able to play in the party without it.

Sure thing, I was using the old version as I heard that I needed that earlier.
EDIT: Just so I know I have the right one, the most current version is 98c? Just want to be 100% sure.

Actually there's a new version of ST that's required for MM8BDM, and it'll be bundled with it (but I'll put an optional download for just the MM8BDM files somewhere)

Well it looks like Ustream doesn't have a viewer limit so we'll go with that! I'll probably talk about stuff, show off some videos, have a countdown until release, answer some questions and some other good stuff. Any more ideas you have for the stream lemmie know!
I'll announce it when I have a definite date. But first I just need to test the crap out of our test build. :cool:

I have A Secondairy Idea. CMM, If you're making a stream While I Make Q&A Stream, while I make a MM8BDM Online Gameplay stream, I'll make all of that into one page. I'll even put it in the Streaming Portal of CGCF (My Forum).

There's also Light IRC. So Nexus11 and KillerChair,Mibbit and Light IRC are not just "A chat thingy", they're flash IRC clients. They can be embedded. Besides Ustream has a flash IRC client as well. When you enter the Ustream chat you'll known as "ustreamer-XXXXX" Or guests. I can tell because I have mIRC.

With all the obituarys and pickup notices, and two seconds of the message showing, isnt very good for ingame chat.

AWIGHT I have a little schedule planned for the stream. Not too sure on times but it might be around 8PM GMT. If you can work out what time it is in your area, I'd like a few opinions on whether that's acceptable or not.

IMO, that time couldn't be more perfect. For me, that's an hour after I get home from school. :)
If I may ask, will you possibly host a game after the stream? Or are you leaving this up to others? I think it'd be interesting to see you and the gang in a public server.

I'm sure people will host but I'm gonna try to get at least 2 servers up with 32 player slots. As for myself, I doubt I'll play right away but I've been starving to play this thing with a ton of players.
