You may want to expand on your description there a bit. This doesn't tell me anything about the game whatsoever; All I know is it's a horror game and it's either scary, not scary, or "little scary"

Alright, having looked into this game quite a bit lately, I know a couple things about it.

Basically, you're the new night watchmen at a kid's pizza and party place and you're supposed to not die because the anthropomorphic animal robots want to turn you into a robot.

That's...it, really. The mechanics involve checking security cameras, opening and closing the doors to your left and right, and essentially watching to make sure the robots aren't about to kill you. It's also worth noting that keeping the doors closed, lights on, and cameras running waste power that you have a limited amount of.

Also I'm pretty sure it's called Five Nights at Freddy's.

It legit scared the crap out of me the first few times. Then I realized that the game's horror is through jump scares. Audio only jumpscares... You're not scared of the mechs themselves, just the EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE sound they make.

The animatronics themselves bother me. Just the sight of them darting down that one hallway gets me.

Thanks to Tumblr, I have no fear of the game (though realistically, you're forced to sit in a small room in a chair for 6 strait hours for 5 nights until 6 AM trying not to die.... that just sounds rough)

The game is quite scary... at first, but becomes less scary after a while, and being on tumblr, I see it a lot, though playing the game is very different from seeing it. I managed to play the demo, and it was definitely scarier than just watching it, but still not like, crazy scary or anything. I almost beat night 2, I had 1% power left well into 5am when Foxy burst through the door.

Welp, in the sequal, Bonnie's face is ripped out, though at least the new Bonnie's gender makes more sense, though all that makup and that hard plastic face will probably make her more creepy

Also heard rumors Chika is supposed to be meeting the same fate

And more Booty shorts! *The new Chica*

From what Ive seen, you use the Freddy head when an old animatronic comes in, but for the new ones, they have facial recognition, meaning if you're wearing the Freddy head, they wont recognize you and attack you also

You clearly haven't seen jackshit.
You clearly cannot see parallels between mechanics in the first game and mechanics in the second.

-Freddy head and flashlight act the same way as the doors in fnaf1. Put it on to deter animatronics that would otherwise kill you, but it does not work in all scenarios. Freddy will kill you if you have both doors down for too long/Foxy will see through disguise and old animatronics will be unaffected by flashlight.
-7 of the 11 animatronics act the same way bonnie/chika do in fnaf1. Come into room/go into vents, if you're quick enough to put down doors/put on mask, they'll leave and will not kill you. Only difference is there are now 3 places to check on rather than 2.
-Forced to look at camera a small amount to prevent camping strats. (foxy/musicbox)
-bonnie/chika door jamming strats from fnaf1 given to balloon boy. Both scenarios mean death.

You've got the EXACT same tasks being performed by a larger amount of animatronics.

Hell, even the jumpscares are the same. Half a second of screaming/attacking animatronic before a game over. They're also easier to anticipate in fnaf2 because half the scares are telegraphed. (balloon boy jamming light, mangle being in the room, golden freddy showing up 5 years before his scare, not putting on freddy head fast enough when old animatronics come into room)

Knux already stated how the game is different, but you also have to keep in mind that this is a sequal, so the games are gonna be at least a little similar, I don't think they were going the Mario Brothers to Doki Doki Panic/ Mario Brothers 2 route here.

Jumpscares are jumpscares. It doesn't matter what noise it makes if you know it's coming. I can scream BOO! and honk my nose three times and that can be considered a jumpscare. Eventually you're going to start warming up to these jumpscares, making the game's purpose "Scaring you" nearly impossible/futile attempts to do so. (See: Example below) The minigames have nothing to do with the jumpscares or point that was being addressed, rather, it's one of the few new things that add to the core mechanic.

To me, I will agree the jumpscare screams were toned down too much, the only suprise you get is suddenly seeing them standing in front of you causing a panic to put the head on (Foxy is really the truly surprising one), but otherwise you'll see alot of them coming. Then you have the game's lore that actually sortof makes you start to feel bad for some of the characters (especially the phone guy R.I.P.), then you have the minigames which adds to it (and also acts as a pallet cleanser between deaths). then you have the game over screen. The original was kinda disturbing looking and you get kicked back to the title screen nothing taking you away from the tension. In the new game, the game over screen is just Freddy looking at you through the mask, then you have the minigames taking you away from the tension (until the jumpscares in them, but after seeing them the 1st time you'll know exactly when they happen again)

though there are a few game crashing things that will pop up similar to golden Freddy
Title: Five Nights at Treasure Island
Post by: Jdude330 on December 15, 2014, 08:40:24 PM
BUMP
so some fans have made a FNAF fan game based off of the creepypasta Tapes from Treasure Island, called Five Nights at Treasure island. from what I've seen, it  looks to be it's own thing, with elements from FNAF. (such as the cameras) This game has a new mechanic, where the animatronics are blind, but can instead hear you. to lure them away, you must shut off one of your cameras. however, the security system may glitch, and your camera is stuck until the day. Having Disney characters try to murder you (Yeah, you read that right.) just adds to the creepiness.

Download it here. (http://anart1996.deviantart.com/art/Five-Nights-At-Treasure-Island-DEMO-497691415)

The game at it's core could pretty much be remade on an Atari, it's a very simple game that can easily be tweaked and repackaged as a new one. They could probably be pumped out faster if they reused the same graphics/scares. No problem with that if you ask me, if people are willing to buy it and enjoy it.

I play the games simple for the story and stuff, and assuming this one answers questions I have, I'm perfectly fine with the game coming out in that little time, plus it ain't that big of a game or complicated or anything, shouldn't take too long to make a few. Then the game is probably gonna be around 10 dollars, so its not gonna have a bunch of stuff.

Funny thing I realized about disliking bandwagons: You'd probably start a bandwagon for hating bandwagons.

So anyway, looking forward to the threequel. I've only played the demos for the previous ones, but considering the bit of gameplay difference between the two, I'm curious as to how the third will play as well as whether or not there'll be more storywise.

It was said Scott made a religious game once. However it was bad and the models were said to be really scary so he simply took the criticism to make a horror game.

Actually the religious one was a 3D movie based on the book "The Pilgrim's progress",the creepy game was called "Chipper & Son's Lumber Co. where you play as a beaver, basically it was supposed to be a cartoony style game where you cut trees and make lumber and stuff, but the animations and the way some of the characters looked scared people

There's only one robot that you have to bait around with noises. He uses decoys (hallucinations) to distract you, then goes in for the kill. You also start hallucinating if some air vent system dies out.

The thing with jumpscare-heavy horror games like the FNAF-series is that they got old (and not scary) pretty quickly.
It lacks that kinda atmosphere that games like Amnesia give you (which i really like :L ), at least to me.
It may be because of the inability to move.

Just having a buildup to a (potential) jumpscare doesn't really give me the shivers.
They are scary the first few times, but that's already it :/
