Title: Super Smash Bros. for 3DS Tournament (LET'S SMASH)

WELCOME TO THE SUPER SMASH BROS. FOR 3DS TOURNAMENT. I'LL BE YOUR HOST, WATZUP7856.

As Jdude mentioned in his tournament topic, I would be hosting a Smash Bros. tournament when I feel like it's a good time. Now I think it's a great time to host a Smash tourney because I believe everyone has a feel for the mechanics now, plus Smash Bros. is still fresh. Without further adieu, here are the rules and guidelines.

Before the actual tournament, there will be pools for seeding. The groups for seeding will be randomized once everyone signs up. Everyone will have a best of 3 match against everyone in their group. The rules are the same as the tournament, except that it will be 2 stock with 5 minutes. This makes it so organizing the bracket is a lot easier.

The tournament will be double elimination, meaning if you lose a set, you won't be out completely.

Gumballtoid made me realize to mention that please specify which mii fighter to play as. The Brawler, Sword fighter, and Gunner are 3 separate characters. Also stick to just one mii and not others of the same class.

This includes Leoalex

EDIT: Also I'm sorry Roy and Kapus don't have another way of solving this dilemma.

EDIT 2: Also it has come to my attention to bring up that if you plan on using custom moves, stick to just one custom moveset, and not change around.

I've added these things to the rules on the front post too.

I made the stupidest mistake joining this tournament. I knew this was going to be slaughtered, yet I still joined. Just what sense does that make? None, obviously.

I know this is a cowardly way out but... hey, I'm more than aware of that. Really I won no games, so there shouldn't be any complications. Just give each member of the group their wins from me, easy as that.

Lots of people joined this tournament expecting to lose at some point. Why? Because it's Smash Bros. It's fun, even if you end up losing. There's more to the game than just winning.

Also, you're putting yourself down in a way that speaks for other people. I've played against you before and I think you're very fun to fight. You have even beaten me before, and I so far have trumped everyone in my pool. Playing against you isn't a waste. You don't have to be perfect.

The second match was odd, as the smash ball showed up.  We eventually found out that the host had migrated to Shina, who didn't have items turned off.  I didn't really care too much, so we just went on to do the tiebreaker round.  If this causes an issue, please let me know!  Good games, otherwise!

With that, I've finished my matches with everyone in the pool.  You guys gave me some fantastic rounds!  Though I was denied one.  ;_;  Best of luck in the tournament!

I'm really glad to see most everyone getting their matches in. This whole week, i'll be training before the Shuffle VI tournament at Columbus this upcoming weekend, so I won't be doing much with this tournament besides checking it once in awhile.

The only people that haven't gotten any matches in are Doctor Jughu, Gumballtoid, Turbodude, JaxOf7, Yuri Sakazaki, and Idiot9.0. Please make an effort to get your matches in sometime during this week. (This includes everyone, not just the ones listed). With that being said, I don't have a specific deadline for pool matches just yet, but I will put one up by next week.

Just to make things a bit clearer too, Bikdark and Awbawlisk have dropped out of the tourney, so you don't have to worry about fighting them.

Remember, if anyone has questions about the tourney, contact my Skype by the same name (watzup7856). I prefer Skype more than anything else, but if you must, you can PM me here too.

So far, this is moving at a nice pace. I hope everyone is still having fun with the tourney because the real hype begins once the tourney starts.

Just so you guys know, this is the last day of pools. If you have not finished your pools matches, you will be placed at a lower seeding than everyone else who have finished unless I've known that you've been trying to get in contact with your group members.

I've also made a list of people who have to get their matches done.

Yuri has to fight both Llama and Jax

Accel and SmashBro have to finish their matches

Fyone, Idiot9.0, and Kage have to fight each other

these are the only matches that have to be done now.

10/10 I got scared by bacon on last stock of Match 1.
I was offstage and I kept getting hit by bacon. Very scary bacon.
However eating the bacon provided me the energy to reset my recovery, allowing me to get back on the stage.

So I got through my pool matches using no one but Dedede and it's the start of round 1.

So Watzup has allowed me to make a last minute switch from Shulk to Bowser.

Ok, about Jax's situation, he hasn't at all used any other character other than Dedede in pools. He also hasn't done any actual tourney match before the switch, so I don't think this is a huge deal. This goes for other people too, if you haven't done a match in the tourney and haven't used all your characters, or don't even have 3 characters, you can switch out/add one ONE other character. You will need to say who you're dropping and who you're switching too/adding on in the topic. This will be added to the front post rules.

Also, SmashBroPlusB informed me earlier that his 3DS has been bricked so he plans to use his sister Shina-K's 3DS for matches. Other than that you guys should keep pressing on for matches, they really don't take that long.

I find that messed up personally how you're rewarding him for not doing his tourney match right away, if I had known that beforehand I wouldn't have done a tourney match too but I tried to get it done as soon as I could. (I thought it was bad to wait till last minute to do your tourney matches). Adding a new rule that rewards people who have been leaving their tourney matches 'till the last minute doesn't make any sense and changing a rule that's been already in play for so long is poor tourney hosting especially if not all competitors can benefit from it if they choose.

I see where Watzup's coming from with the whole "If you've done a match, you can't switch" deal.  It's mostly so the people you fought don't feel cheated.

However, it is kind of unfair to the people who already did matches.  It wasn't exactly possible to tell that you could change out your character.  Maybe revise the rule so that you can swap out a character that you haven't used?

Personally, I don't see a huge problem with this since you guys haven't used those characters you plan to switch out. Although, you guys really need to commit to things before you jump right in to an event like this.

I'll leave the tournament aspect of this out, but the rule still stands since I can't back out of this now.

Primarily at "If you haven't done a match in the tourney and haven't used all your characters, or don't even have 3 characters". Does this mean despite having played 3 matches, I can add another character? Or must I have still not played any tourney matches? And do I have to switch out, or does the 'add' part only apply to those without 3 characters?

I didn't ask initially because I had a feeling you would say no, and as badly as I wanted to have another character I had no idea what to choose.
With the inclusion of this rule, assuming I am understanding it right, I ask for Fox.
I apologize if I missed a detail that should be blatantly obvious.

This tourney has slowed down to a literal crawl and all my attempts at creating matches in the Smash Chat and asking for deadlines has been ignored so I'm just gonna go ahead and make a list of how long people have waited to do their matches

Smash matches take around 10 minutes and they're only between two people, I know Christmas is soonish but really there is no reason for it to have taken this long and I'm impatient so that's the whole point of this post

I admire the hell out of what Max just posted, and yea she's right about matches taking way too long to do. Also, I don't really look at the Smash chat on Skype often, so giving me a PM on Skype is the best option of getting my attention.

What I've decided to do is I'm setting a deadline for DECEMBER 22nd 11:59 P.M. to get BOTH 2nd round winners and 1st round losers done.

Let me be clear that if I see you are trying to get in your matches done and the other person doesn't respond by that date, he person who doesn't respond will be disqualified. But, if I see that none of you are making an effort to contact each other, both of you will be disqualified. It's kind of sad to see that I have to force people to get matches done so that people who actually want to play in this tournament will be able to play their matches.

Yeah, Anjo and I just had very unfortunate scheduling issues; the only day we had a possible chance to play was Sunday the 14th due to our locations and schedules/workloads, and we just failed to get in proper contact.  I'll be free to play by Friday and onward, I'll just try to make sure we can finish ASAP.  

I didn't really post about the situation since I'm a lazy shit but rest assured it'll be done soon.

1st match was pretty close, it was on Yoshi's Island, Zelda vs Marth, and 1-0 in my favor.

2nd match was on Tortimer Island Omega, Pit vs Marth, and 2-0 for me.

Ok, matches are taking way too long to do. I wish it wouldn't come to this, but I'm setting a 10 day deadline to complete your matches starting today. Once you do a match, and your opponent is ready to fight off against you, the 10 day deadline will start. If the match does not get completed by the deadline, the 2 people will be disqualified unless they tried to contact each other. The 10 day deadline won't start until you have an opponent to fight against.

I'm going to be in Florida all week and I won't be back until Friday next week, but please get your matches done.

Hey um sorry in advance but quite frankly I've kinda stalled things for too long already and my remaining schedule's just looking like ass until the deadline, so just give my match to Boby for me.

Sorry if you were looking forward to battling me, and I swear it isn't disinterest - I just can't safely schedule anything without something else intruding, it seems. Especially when these next five weeks are going to slaughter my availibility, and the next three days are just impossibly tense for me.

@Knux There was no general rule to the matches, just the ones that were present at the time. I set a deadline depending on how many matches there were, so since there was only 1, I didn't set a deadline.

Shoutouts to Max and Kapus for getting second and third respectively

Even though this took a little too long to finish, it was fun to organize and participate in. Thanks to everyone who participated and stayed patient in the tourney. There were a lot of periods of time where the tourney wasn't going anywhere, but you guys stuck through. Before anyone asks, I probably won't do a Wii U tournament, at least not for a long while. Although, if anyone else wants to host one, I wouldn't have a problem joining.
