Clarification on the life pool system. Ignore the Zandronum, engine life counter; it doesn't display correct information with pooled lives. Instead, Lego has a added a new counter that is accurate. Just remember, each team gets 5 respawns, after which every death will be permanent.

Our last tournament saw contestants develop their individual skills, both technical and strategic, and we saw a lot of intense matches and impressive moments.
This time, though, your ability to work as a team will be put to the test. This tournament differs a good deal from the last team tournament we saw, as I think now we have the interest and drive for something bigger... This is...
The Real Super Power of Teamwork - 3v3 TLMS Tournament!!
That's right, I've decided to take a shot at 3v3 tournament. The mode of play will be TLMS, the most popular team-based game mode.
The gameplay will be vanilla stock TLMS, with one key difference. During each game, a team of three will share a pool of 5 lives. This means that teamwork will be of the utmost importance. If you can't work as a team, the enemy will pick you off at their leisure!
I really believe that we have the interest and quality of dedicated members to make this 3v3 tourney work, but I do have back up plans should we struggle to come up with enough teams. But I doubt that! I think everyone, casual or competitive, frequent player or less frequent, should have a lot of fun participating in this tourney. And I encourage everyone to come up with good team names, there will be a test.
General Rules
1. All games will be played in version v4b of MM8BDM.
2. All matches must be played according to these guidelines:
a) Each set is best 2 out of 3 games.
b) Each game is a 5-life (shared stock), 2-winlimit game of TLMS.
c) Each team will pick one map, and the third map, if necessary, will be decided upon by mutual agreement.
d) To decide which team picks the first map, EITHER both teams agree that one or the other picks first, OR a third party (that is, not on either team, unless agreed upon by both teams) will toss a coin. Heads means that the team on the TOP of the Challonge match up will pick first. Tails means the team on the BOTTOM of the Challonge match up will pick first.
3. At this point, there are no banned vanilla maps. This may change in the future. As for custom maps, I'm trying a new policy. Custom maps may be used without consent of the other team if and only if you notify the other team and me about what your choice will be to give both enough time to study the map (and make sure it's fine, in my case), in the case that they are not familiar with it. This rule is valid only for IX-Pack, SHARP, AMP, RozPack, LegoPack, the Jam Pack, and KNDM. For other custom maps, the other team must approve of the map (mutual agreement.) In addition, you may still request a custom map not in advance, but the other team must agree to battle there. I may go through this list later and hard ban specific maps in some packs, but this is the rule as it stands now.
4. Servers used for the competition must use the appropriate settings. Of course, I will have at least one server up myself.

5. Server hosts must be able to provide logs of any and all matches if I request them.
6. Duels played on the server of one of the participants (where they have that low, low ping) will only count upon agreement by both teams.
7. Cases of lag will be handled on a case-by-case basis. As general rules, lag related to clients’ local machines (ie, other programs, etc.) will not be
excused; lag based on connection issues with the server will be excused in most cases and the appropriate actions will be taken.
8. You must report all match/game results on this thread, preferable with screenshots or mutual team confirmation.
9. As tournament host, I reserve the right to add, remove, or change rules as I see fit to maintain a smooth, functional, and equally fair tournament.
10. Activity clause. If a match goes undone for 2 weeks after the match up has been decided, OR if a team is unresponsive for 5 days since they last communicated, I reserve the right disqualify the team that has been less active. Being active means communicating with me AND your opponents to set times for matches, and making those scheduled times. Depending on the circumstances I may allow more time, but keep this in mind. I also reserve the right to change these time limits at any time, provided that I notify you all via this thread. In addition, I reserve the right to disqualify a team at any time if they are the less active team of a match up that is stalling the rest of the competition to a significant degree.
11. As always, report all scores here on this thread, preferably with screenshot confirmation and confirmation from both teams.

TLMS is a very popular and well-liked game mode, that even casual players enjoy and can really get into. If you've stayed away from tournaments in the past, this a great opportunity to grab a couple friends and get in on some action! The shared stock and team-based nature of the tournament mean that any one can go far! But conversely, if you're a competitive player looking for a new challenge, this tournament will put your abilities to the test as you try to combine your skills with others to reach the top.

We finally had our first match! And holy CRAP was it amazing. My body is still numb from the sheer force of hype it contained. So here's how it went.
Whelp, Tails beat me to it 'cause I tried to make it look fancy, so I just left it in a spoiler. Still, this was great it was all Smash/Gizmo for getting us the win.
I feel like such a hero I couldn't have done it without you guys!

The war is over, bodies strewn throughout the battlefields. As for which team left more, I'm going to make you read for it because Bik is demanding I embellish this post.
MAP 1: MM7SHA (Team XXXChaotiXXX's mostly random pick)
There were a few unexpected pop ins and crossed paths, most ending in a painful, fiery death, but eventually team XXXChaotiXXX stalked their way to a 2-0 victory. Frag Differential: 3
MAP 2: MM1DW1 (Team 911's pick)
Regardless of how ham Team XXXChaotiXXX tried to go (partially spurred on by their lack of ammo and subsequent, surprisingly effective, tactic of bashing the enemy's heads in with rocks), Team 911's superior tactics allowed them to extend the game, winning 2-1. Frag Differential: 3
MAP 3: MM7DW1 (The mutual pick we all hoped would come quickly, but obviously didn't)
And so things got intense. The first round was quite loose and free flowing, despite some attempts at ambush, but ultimately Team XXXChaotiXXX placed one too many well aimed shots and claimed the first round.
Everyone shuddered as they reviewed their weaponry for the second round- Fire Storm, Metal blade, Ring Boomerang, Napalm Bomb... Sakugarne. Team XXXChaotiXXX was quick to fall from Team 911's stalwart defenses, but the hyperaggressive weaponry gave Team XXXChaotiXXX the edge they needed to bring the round to two survivors each (although a crow helped). As Muzaru fell, the prophecy that Bikdark would choke away the victory seemed to be coming true. But with one of many frenzied buster shots, Bikdark finished off Michael, leaving only him and King Dumb. Fire Storms traded for Mega Buster shots and Bikdark was clinging to life with 20 health, and whilst King Dumb was not much more comfortable with his 30, his vast supplies of ammunition kept Bikdark desperate under heavy fire.
Suddenly, a breakthrough occurred. Bikdark was unable to keep his distance and a Ring Boomerang flew directly towards his face.
Closer.
Closer.
The crowd fell silent, and then erupted in a frenzied clamor.
The Ring grazed just short of him, obscuring his entire field of view.
The high-stakes game of cat and mouse ensued, with a precious scarce frenzy of metal and flame holding both combatants at bay.
But alas, despite prayers to Snoop Dogg, Charles Barkley, Shrek, and anyone else the downed soldiers could imagine, Bikdark ultimately was taken down when flanked by a Ring Boomerang. Team XXXChaotiXXX mourned the loss of what could have been the most Snoopinist hero to ever exist (though everyone else was cheering enormously).
The final round was upon them. What happened on that day wasn't clear- Team 911's phalanx was unbreakable, entrapping and executing the loosely-formed XXXChaotiXXX members. Muzaru felt he was failing his defense of the front lines, Bikdark's ambushes were sparse and missed the mark, and OJ's charges crashed and burned far before doing anything effectual, and yet they found at the end that only King Dumb stood against them. The war was drawing to and end, and it was up to King Dumb to save his country.
And then Bikdark punched him in the face, killing him.
We owe this victory to based Snoop Dogg. Praise be unto him.

Getting right to the good stuff, yeah? No beating around the bush here. Straight to the tiebreaker. MM1GUT. No mercy.
Now, before I get into the meat of the match, you might want to know how it went about. True to form, XXXChaotiXXX lurked about the outskirts and cliffsides while 911 held fast in the clearing. It was only XXXChaotiXXX's abilities as master baiters that they hoped to pull a few soldiers out of the safety of the vast emptiness- or would Team 911 get away with the worm?
Unsure of their plans, skirmishes broke out across the mountainside. Despite XXXChaotiXXX's wishes being granted, the unstable footing and 911's ability to adapt to the terrain wherever possible narrowed the troops down to one man each- Korby Versus Muzaru. Ammo in hand and free from injury, Team XXXChaotiXXX was but one execution away from taking their first win.
Having finally made a base of operations and assigning members as full-fledged sentries to punish peepers, 911 was looking to take the match by a war of attrition. XXXChaotiXXX just couldn't keep their curiosity in check, and Team 911 took round 2.
In a sick twist of fate, XXXChaotiXXX ended up as the team with the plan. Despite Bikdark totally choking, the bait in the lower tunnel was just too enticing. But one too many steps overextended, and the fury of a full team came down upon them in the cramped tunnels.
Once more King Dumb stood as the last man standing, against the horde.
And once more, he was punched in the face.

And now I'd like to thank everyone for participating in the tournament and seeing it through to the end. This was the largest tournament Cutstuff has ever seen in terms of participant count, and amazingly it was also one of Cutstuff's most successful tournaments! And in more ways than one. In just over 3 months since the tournament was announced, we've seen 18 teams of three come together and fight through blood, sweat, and tears. It was great seeing so many people grow closer and develop strong teamwork skills. And it paid off! We saw some of the closest matches ever in this tournament. A quick glance at the bracket will show a lot of 2-1 overall sets, all of which were amazingly close and hype. And even the sets that went 2-0 were sights to be seen, with clutches and close calls happening everywhere.
It was great seeing so many people from all over the community join up in this exciting tournament. I hope everyone had as much fun as I did. And as always, hope to see you all next time!
