Title: Single Player Saveability?
Post by: Deviddo on October 09, 2010, 05:03:52 AM
Just a question before I turn off MM8BDM, but, if I beat a level, for example...

I just beat Cutman's level and now I'm in Gutsman's level.  Will it save?  Or will I have to start all over?

I'm not 100% certain, but F2 activates the save key, which only works when there's no bots in the stage.  You can also use "map <mapname>" in the console to skip around.  Probably better to wait for an official answer from CutmanMike on that one, I've never really messed with the single player.

it will not save sadly

you must beat one chapter (one megaman "game"). once you beat a chapter you will head back to the lab. the game saves there automatically and you can quit and continue later :ugeek:

Better then GvH's campaign where you can't save it all for the whole dang thing. Except when you get to the last boss, but still. That involves getting all the way there without growing tired or bored.

Haha uhhh... mega man 1 was my favourite!

I'm going to be making the matches a lot shorter, hopefully that will make up for it.

Shorter Matches would, in my opinion, make it less fun.

What I love about the campaign is that each level forces you to get better and seek out an area where the action is lighter that way you can pick off your foes easier in certain areas, such as the area in Gutsman's stage where the ice beam is, or pretty much anywhere up high in Elecman's stage, or the hallways surrounding Cutman's stage.

Perhaps make different difficulty modes?  Easy mode = 10 frags, Normal = 20, hard = 30, super hard = 40, nightmare = 50.  Something like that.

Once I got to MM4 I died continusly. Until I found a good weapon in each stage and just used that. I was 9th in Cossack's stage 'till I found the Metal blades and came first!

I wouldn't mind shorter levels but the singleplayer definantly isn't that hard!

Already been said a million times, but I think shortening the levels is really gonna help out. Most people who say they have difficulty with the levels are probably capable of beating them, its just the length can be kind of exhausting (and you can't laze around, or the bots will beat your score!).

I had some confusion about saving when testing, and thankfully it does it automatically after the bosses.

The bots AI can be altered but not much. I can reduce their brain power if you like.

To test if it will help, do an offline campaign with a bunch of doc robot bots. They're the only bots to have less AI than other robot masters. See if you do better.

Regarding fraglimits in campaign, some people like them to be shorter, some like it as-is, just have Normal and East difficulties, Easy with a lower fraglimit.

Setting lower fraglimits based on a difficulty isn't as easy as that! I can only set one fraglimit for each level in the whole campaign.

A standalone "easy" campaign download then?

I stopped playing the MM8BDM Singleplayer because it kept sending back to the Megaman 1 Maps, and it wouldn't save at all.

I've stopped playing single player because it took so long to beat MM2, my finger hurts from holding the fire button.

I've enjoyed single player, but I have to play back through the Mega Man 3 stages because I stopped just before the MM3 boss and thought it would save there.  Maybe have the game save between levels?  All you'd have to do is make a 1 sec long blank level that just says "saving.." with no bots or something, right? :D

DON'T DO THIS:
You can actually save right at the beginning of a match when there's no bots but DON'T DO THIS

Cuz Cutman's saving is different from Skulltag's. It pretty much keeps track if you beat all the levels starting from Light's teleporter without skipping around etc, and if so you fight the boss.

If you beat the boss, it automatically saves and unlocks the next chapter.

Dunno if Cutman's gonna change the way that works; probably not. He is definitely gonna be lowering the frags though, so playing through a chapter will be faster.

Honestly, at the moment I'm just cheating (Fly, IDDQD, Give all, Activate top spin whilst flying and let the frags roll in.) to get to the bosses. This is probably because I suck at games, but the bosses are pretty tough! (Until you get Item 1 in Boss 2...)

I just want to have some form of mid-chapter saving.

Just yesterday, I made it all the way to the stage outside of Wily fortress in MM2, but I had to close it because I wanted to do something else (because the bots were working together to screw me over.) and now I have to start over from the beginning! (Darn you Crashman stage!)

Boss 2 isn't tough, even without Item 1.  All you have to do is...
