Say, is there a way to keep hidden skins un-hidden or do I have to type those lines in the console each time I start the game?  And for some reason I've forgotten Wily's suit code.  Can someone PM that to me?

You have to type them each time, unless you remain as one of the secret skins and load up the game. You'll still be the secret skin.

so thats what console does, its like a cheat menu.    any chance you can list some harmless codes for the public? maybe pm me the invincible code(joking...well maybe).
Title: Re: The Console

Well the thing is the server has to have SV_Cheats set to True or none of the codes will work. So even if you had the codes its likely that the majority of the servers you'd join wouldn't have that option enabled.

Also I don't know those codes myself, I just figured out how to change skins in the console yesterday and that took forever for me to figure out.

Here are some useful controls in the console:

up: Goes to previous console entry.

down: Goes to next console entry.

tab: Displays all the codes with the same characters, Type in "sv_" then press tab, you'll see what I mean.

i see what you mean, but how does one activate them. do i enter sv_(desired code) hit enter or just type it and leave as is for offline games?

You type the code then press enter. If you're online you'll need a password to use the server side console entrys. If the password was proto then you would type in console:
send_password proto

Then:
rcon [enter anything here]

ok thank you. now sir, do i eneter the code right when the game is starting up, when i enter a offline skirmish, or it really does no matter when i enter it? also i tried one, but i got something say, "failure", either tho i typed the code correctly. does that mean that code will not work on that level, or perhaps something else?

ok it does not say failure any more, but after i enter the codes its says "TRUE", yet  nothing happens. for example i tried singleplayer and entered sv_sudendeath, then its says it 'true", and when i return to the campign there is no sudden death for me or my opponents. :?
Title: Re: The Console

You have to put, for example,

Are there any chasecam-related console things we can do?  I've been messing around with the console lately-I've been taking out the bosses using Rush Jet and various weapons not found in their arenas, and I was thinking of making a fun little video about the MM3 Robot Masters tussling with the bosses.  In the spirit of it not being all that serious, I'd like to use a chasecam on it-but I'd like the player characters not to obscure what's happening as much as they currently do (Hard Man blocks most of the center).  Is there a way I can extend the distance/height of the chasecame from the player character?
Title: Re: The Console
Post by: fizzyman on October 14, 2010, 02:34:12 AM
You have to activate the "SV_Cheats True" code to use the Chase command. And then theres the issue of not being able to see around your character. Or atleast I had this problem with Auto, I don't know if there is a way to zoom out or something but thats all I know about Chase cam.

chase_height

or something like that. Change the numbers.

chase_height <default = -80>

Oh dear. Seems like you took my advice and applied it wrong... I'll reword it.

Code: [Select]
Chase_dist
chase_height

The default for Chase_dist is 90
The default for Chase_height is -80

 so i can help others who wish to do the same.

1.) open console
2.)type "sv_cheats true" , then press enter.
3.)type "chase" in console and press enter.
4.)type "chase_dist 90" for close zoom or "chase_dist 190" for a bit more zoomed out effect and hit enter.
5.) type "chase_height -11" for the prefect 3rd person view height and then enter.
should look like this.

only thing you cannot do is look at your front, which i suppose kinda sux, unless you gentlemen have something to add.

Er... no thanks :D Whatever. I could honestly care less if it was pointing at the back of my head, it would still help with aiming.

And unlimited ammo is sv_infiniteammo 1.

Shameless revival!

I remember DTD was using a rocket launcher in my cheats server once (i think), is it possible to get Doom 2 weapons via the console? Or if it's not... what were you doing, DTD?

I've got it! Give BFG10K is... something, but it won't come up until you type Drop Megabuster!

What else is there... hm... (searches for doom weps)

korby says no one's gonna look back here so have myroc's old post
It's Give bfg10k, then Use bfg10k

Give timefreezesphere
Stops time. Much like Flash man's weapon.

Give doomsphere
4x Damage.

Give guardsphere
Protects you from damage.

Give invisibilitysphere
Makes you harder to see.

I remember there is some sort of shield that is you give it to yourself twice you become invisible but I can't remember that one. I know loads more but I am lazy.

or drop the megabuster!
Title: Re: The Console

It's easier to do the use command.  It's shorter and it doesn't matter if you have other weapons.

I have a key binded to drop so I find it easier that way rather than typing in yet another console command!

Post by: Lio on November 14, 2010, 08:28:14 AM
sv_fastweapons x
X being a numer. I think that's the one. Oh, almost forgot. A number higher than 2 most of the times causes weapons to either shoot slowly or stop shooting at all, totally depends on the weapon. Either ways, 2 is enough so I don't think you should go over that.
