Title: [Suggestion] Pit in MM4BRI
Post by: Knux on June 04, 2015, 05:06:41 AM
All of the pits in MM4BRI have the glowing blue textures which help know where they are when the lights go out. Then, there's this one. It's kinda weird that the most potentially risky pit in the map doesn't have any sort of indication of being there in the dark.

I suggest placing the glowing blue textures in the areas marked by Time Stoppers, with small 3d floor pieces above them so that there's no actual space cut in those areas. The floor pipes that go dim in the darkness would also be good where the floor texture surrounding this pit is.

Yeah, i hate falling there due to being in the dark.

Wait a sec... Time Stoppers!? *jumps for the time stoppers but falls into the pit and dies.*

I agree with this wholeheartedly. That pit has taken so many lives people normally vote a different map

A thing that I think would be nice would be spliting between a section which the light can be turned off and on, and a section which the light stays on at all times.

But then have the "dark" section be more rewarding to compensate for the risk.

As for presented idea of "glow", perhaps it would be easier to just toss in a step there to act as "safety rail" (since steps do "glow in the dark" in this map). But if the "blue glow" is used... Well, I think it would look weird.

Wouldn't work.
People jump over those things all the time whether they know they are or not.

I don't think you're correct at all. The only place where you can die would be the pit near the middle of the stage since that doesn't come with any warnings. If you paid more attention to the textures that light up around the outline of the stage, you could easily avoid death. Also, remembering the layout of the stage is incredibly important, and not even that hard to do.

I don't see the problem with the gimmick,  I like it a lot since it's pretty fun

removing it is an awful idea and it'd makr bright man worse

One idea I proposed in another thread was to make it so the map is 50% possible to darken and 50% will stay bright. The bright area could be the inner or outer ring and would have less rewarding items (small capsules, weak weapons), however it would never darken at all. Meanwhile the are that could darken would contain better items but be harder to navigate, so the risk-reward relationship would be balanced.

I am in favour of the above idea. Seems like something that could make the map a lot more playable without making it yawn inducing.

The map is already playable, and quite good (minus lighting gimmick). If you consider it "yawn inducing" then you should probably consider playing simpler games such as Candy Crush or Angry Birds.

That aside, I suggest this discussion be brought to the appropriate map discussion topic.
