Title: Mega Man romhacks
Post by: Derpman on June 06, 2015, 03:32:36 PM
I randomly went online and searched for mega man romhacks one day and found the following romhack

Mega Man Ultra (romhack of mega man 2)
level, music, weapon, and boss behavior changes.
all music is ported from other NES games, or remixed snes music to fit the abilities of the NES

(by the way I just joined the forum.)

Welcome to the forums.

Just remember to keep things legal - rom hacks tend to be rather ambiguous by legal standards so it's better to be safe rather than sorry as far as pointing out directories for them.

I don't exactly play a lot of Mega Man romhacks, but I do find the aesthetic and music choices for some of them interesting. I think my favorite in that regard would probably be Burst Chaser x Air Sliding, but I'm probably missing out on a good amount.

I'm pretty sure most ROM hack sites simply distribute hacks as patches that must be patched to the original ROM if you have them; it's the actual ROM sites themselves that you mustn't link to. At all.

Heh, I've played a lot of Megaman rom hacks over the years.

One that stands out quite a bit to me is Rockman Deus Ex Machina. Not only does it do a great job with music, level design choices and battle overhauls, but it actually manages to be really challenging in a fun way. Compared to Rockman No Constancy, Deus Ex Machina is a bit harder, but the gameplay is somehow made to be more fun. Hard to describe how exactly it manages it.

Megaman Odyssey and Megaman Forever also stand out, as they are more like fangames that pretty much remake the game while adding loads more features and concepts. Sadly, neither of them are finished, and that latter definitely never will be.  :(

4MI is the best romhack BY FAR.
basically, it jacks up the difficulty in the most creative ways possible.

Well I know that there is a rom hack for megaman 2 but you don't play as megaman you play as mega girl hints the name megagirl 2.

I would agree with this but I feel really hesitant to do so.

Don't get me wrong, Puresabe has amazing amounts of talent for doing everything they did with that hack, but the thing about it that bothers me is that about 85% of the things that happen are just references to other things as opposed to original ideas.

I got so used to that being the case that when that final Shadowman battle got added, I quickly asked people it was reference filled. It was.

The only project i finished 100% truly was "megaman 3 improvement 2.1" on June 1, 2015.

Honestly this probably sounds very silly and dumb, so excuse me. I just consider 4 MI to be "god" ..period.

I have a huge database of romhacks of Megamans 1-6.  If you need any, I've got you covered!
