This is a project I've been working solo on mostly unannounced- It's akin to Battle Factory in prior Pokemon games, but with a few other elements ala battle pike or pyramid. The player moves through a series of rooms, picking one of three randomly generated Pokemon, items, or moves per room (If you've played Hearthstone's arena mode, it'll be familiar). A large focus has been made on giving players the choices they want, such as playing with more or less Pokemon in the team, with or without certain types of items, and perhaps in the future special challenge modes. The good news? The majority of the technical work is already done- all that's left is making Pokemon movesets and trainers, the latter point I need some help on. However, to make this simple to implement, there are going to be some guidelines:
Need-to-know information:
Pokemon Essentials currently uses Gen 5 Pokemon and Mechanics
Please read the following links, as Pokemon Essentials does not have perfect emulation, ergo some abilities and moves SHOULD NOT be relied upon to a major degree-
http://pokemonessentials.wikia.com/wiki/Ability_effects (http://pokemonessentials.wikia.com/wiki/Ability_effects)
http://pokemonessentials.wikia.com/wiki/Function_codes (http://pokemonessentials.wikia.com/wiki/Function_codes)
The wiki may be outdated, if you really want one of these in your team please request along with your submission for an in-game test.
How to make a tasteful team:
Remember that these will be AI CONTROLLED- this means try not to rely on especially gimmicky sets. Things like shell smash and baton pass are fine, endeavor/focus sash sets are not.
For balance reasons, keep a maximum of one hold item (or two if it's just stuff like sitrus berries or gems) or battle item.
Teams consist of 3 Pokemon, but a 6 Pokemon per trainer mode may be implemented later. Include a 6-poke team if you want to be included in this mode as well!
Pokemon may be nicknamed.
Be reasonable with your teams- I'd prefer to not have low caliber legends and pseudo-legends such as Raikou, Regigigas, or Salamence making up 50% of the trainer pool, and absolutely no uber-tier legends (Rayquaza, Dialga, Lugia, etc.)
Custom music, sprites, etc. are accepted. The format required is listed below.
How to format your team:
Read the second post- Pokemon Showdown format now accepted. Everything beyond the italics is still required.
Submitting your team in a more readable format (ala Pokemon Showdown or similar) is optional, but it is REQUIRED to include your submission in the format shown on this page: http://pokemonessentials.wikia.com/wiki ... _a_trainer (http://pokemonessentials.wikia.com/wiki/Defining_a_trainer)
Please note, if using a custom sprite AND/OR music a definition for trainer type will also be needed.
(note: any fields marked with ## should be left as such, and will be replaced as I implement them)
Examples:
CHAMPION
Larry Teak
3, FULLRESTORE, FULLRESTORE, HYPERPOTION
VENUSAUR,100
CHARIZARD,100
BLASTOISE,100

For music, please send as a .midi, .wav, .ogg, or .mp3 file. Youtube link as a preview optional. Please send at a reasonable volume, testing musics in-game hurts my ears :[
For trainer sprites, please send a sprite as a 128x128 PNG with transparent background.
For overworld sprites (which are not yet implemented and I don't know if they will be, but I digress), please send as a 128x192 PNG with the following format: https://www.dropbox.com/s/ifw2xjwojte2i ... 4.png?dl=0 (https://www.dropbox.com/s/ifw2xjwojte2iy6/trchar004.png?dl=0)
Since it's still very early in development, the beta will be shared by request only.
Feel free to submit multiple trainers!
