I really don't know what to say. This was super sudden and really shocking. I'm really thankful for him being involved in many of the games I loved as a child and now, and inspiring me to one day hopefully be a part of the development that goes into many wonderful future games.

I'm positive he'll be remembered for a long time.

Wow, this is just... wow.

I don't know what to say... this is so sudden.

May he rest in peace.

Oh damn, may he rest in peace, and is remembered for the good things he's helped bring up for gaming, as well as his boldness in the face of Nintendo's adversity.

And he was pretty young, too.

He was a great man. From what I know, he was battling this for a while. It was inevitable, yet unexpected.

I really don't have any words I'm sorry

I guess I can say he was my favorite out of everyone at Nintendo to begin with. He's leaving some massive shoes to fill.

This is depressing.

I'm at a lost for words. For someone of Iwata's status dying so young and so sudden is a fucking tragedy. It seems like only the good die young.

He has done so much for Nintendo and was a huge part of my childhood. He helped create one of my favorite games ever which was Earthbound.

Rest In Peace Iwata.

Iwata and Nintendo worked pretty hard to get Nintendo out of a tight spot in the market. They're still not quite in the clear yet, but I remember when they introduced the first Nintendo Direct for Pokemon X & Y. That's when the 3DS started to gain some serious momentum, and later with the Wii U when Smash and Mario Kart were brought into focus. There was something about Iwata's presentation, even with his shaky english, that knew how to appeal to his audience.

This really came out of nowhere... I know he was hospitalized for awhile for cancer treatment, but I guess it's not a battle that's easily won.

So unfortunate this happened. The gaming community will never be the same without Iwata. RIP
