Title: Mouse cursor for menus
Post by: Beed28 on August 23, 2015, 12:47:18 AM
The upcoming Zandronum 3.0 supports the mouse cursor in menus (ZDoom and GZDoom has had this for ages now), including custom ones. The only problem is that Daisy's bloody, severed head (http://doomwiki.org/wiki/Daisy) happens to be the default cursor, which would be way out of place in Mega Man 8-bit Deathmatch, especially considering the blood. There's also different selectable cursors themed on Heretic, Hexen, Strife, and Chex Quest, and while not as bad as Doom's Daisy cursor, they still look out of place with the 8-bit setting.

So my proposal is, replace Daisy with an appropriate Mega Man themed cursor. Does anyone have any ideas?

I think it'd be pretty funny to use the Cursor enemies from MM10's Sheep Man (can't remember their name).

This game should include a custom cursor in the files before 3.0, yes.

Pointan

Honest to god I don't care (though I guess having it'd probably bother me more than the alternative) but if we must have one then yeah it should probably be this.

It's kind of required for the new Zandro version but that's a ways off.
I'll throw this in pending for now; gonna add on some points though:

- Because the Menu in general is getting reformatted, we're gonna need to make some use of MENUDEF to format the menu to be in line with previous versions. [Not sure if this is still the case, but in the last 3.0 build I saw, multiplayer settings were moved under Options and it was weird and unweildy in comparison to the current one.]
- A back button would be needed too.

In all honesty I just stole the menu buttons I made for Nido Force.
Mouse is just the mouse enemy from Sheep Man in MM10.

None of this will show up until Zandronum 3.0 anyway.

Looks like we've got ourselves a four-leaf closer. Talk about luck!
