I made a tumblr blog for the square root games, so I'm moving over there for everything! http://theimaginarymegaman.tumblr.com/

Also if the thread hasn't been updated, Super Fighting Robot is done now.

AFTER FAR, FAR TOO LONG.

MEGA MAN: SQAURE ROOT OF NEGATIVE ONE VERSION 1.3.

I kind of maybe went overboard with this update. Want proof?

Please report bugs found, especially out of bounds glitches.

EDIT: I forgot to include the MEGAMAN 2 font that I used in this update. Otherwise some text will appear like crap. You can get the font here if you don't have it: here.

Yes, I did properly credit you. I should include a text file with the credits in it as well.

EDIT: Small fix applied to Milk. Please redownload the update if you have downloaded already.

Well, here you go.

This game started as a for-fun joke project in Blyka's engine. Then, over the course of 8 months, I somehow finished it. I bring you Mega Man: Square Root of Negative One.

Note that I'm awful at spriting; that's why there are non 8-bit sprites. All the music was also cribbed from various sources (mostly 8 bit remixes found on YouTube). I'd like to get feedback on everything minus the graphics and music, like the level design, weapons, bosses, etc. I'm looking to improve on this as well, so if there are any problems or glitches, please report. Thanks in advance.

Features
- 17 stages to blast through
- 8 new special weapons + 2 abilities for Rush
- 8 secret permanent upgrades hidden in the Robot Master stages
- 32 Info Books hidden in the stages to collect
- Four save files
- Normal and Hard difficulty options
- An unlockable extra character

Download (version 1.45)

MM1: Sniper Joes, Footholders, forced Magnet Beam usage, the bosses not dropping health pickups in the Wily stages, Ice Man and Elec Man taking 1/3 of your healthbar with one hit.
MM2: Yoku Blocks, quick lasers, the entire fortress especially Buebeam Trap, and Crash Bomber and Atomic Fire being awful weapons.
MM3: Various hitbox issues and the depressingly short fortress.
MM4: Up n' Downs.
MM5: The wavebike and almost all weapons being terrible.
MM6: Blizzard & Plant taking too much ammo.
MM7: Mega Man's sprite feels bigger than it should be. Also, Rush Search takes 15 years to finish.
Never played 8 or Bass and I'm not motivated to do so.
MM9: The lasers in Wily 4, they feel like they're only there to waste your time and/or Concrete Shot energy. Also, if you go to the shop while in the fortress you have to do the fortress over.
MM10: Up n' Downs. Commando Man's stage. Waiting for Sheep Man to come down. All the weapons being gimmicky in some way.
MMU: Yoku Man is an abomination. The first two fortress bosses are pretty bad too. Stages are way too long and filled with way to many spikes.
Rock Force: Does the plot count?
MM Revenge of the Fallen: Stages are way too long and filled with spikes.
