Ok, so I really haven't been able to update the Wily Castle 2 stage for Mission mode since I've been doing other stuff and my limited knowledge of DooM Builder.

I've pretty much chosen to work on the map to the best of my ability and just dump it to whoever wants to finish and refine it with the buttons for opening gates and other stuff like that.

I'll have some new screenies in the future though.

Scroll the fence texture higher up.

You'll need to export the maps from the game outside of the main pk3 using a wad editor like SLADE.

If I scrolled it any higher, it would hit the ceiling, and I don't want that effect, I want it to be lowered, that or I don't really know what you mean by scrolling it any higher.

And I'm bad with SLADE, but hey, might as well learn...

Edit-Also, the fence texture is higher up than it should be...dangit I hate it when a texture just won't work right...

Here's an updated screenshot of the map, I moved the Sniper Joe walker a bit back so that it wouldn't attack people who just spawned in at the start of the game. I also added a few barrels and make the map more involved.

I can only imagine how hard it's gonna be to learn how to make the buttons like in Toadmans stage.

Help & Editing / A few more problems...
« on: June 02, 2013, 06:01:39 PM »
So I'm having new problems with DooM builder, now that I can actually test the maps, I found a few bugs and problems, I also have a small question so I can get the skybox working.

Ingame, whenever I'm testing the map, the fence texture seems to be clipping through the ground, In a nutshell, I see the entire fences right through the ground, when I made the fence, I made it 1 pixel thick so that it would look virtually flat, if anyone knows how to fix this problem, please tell me.

The 2nd is how to access certain maps, I can't figure out how to access the maps in mm8bdm, I need the Wily Castle 2 stage from the game so that I can copy the Skybox and use it in this map, and maybe even use the fences there for this map.

Thanks.

So I figured out that I for some odd reason lacked a few assets to have mm8bdm working, the game now tests fine, thanks for the help, I suppose.

Read the first post, I said that I followed the guide  for setting up DooM Builder 2 for MM8BDM, this means that I added both the wad and .pk3,  Gummy already told me to add the pk3, I also said in a post that I added the megagame wad.

So I got the old error, I theorize it has to do with the map name being map01, and it conflicting with dr. lights lab, can someone tell me how to rename the map in the wad the map is in?

I don't particularly know what mapinfo.txt is, do you have a link to a guide or can you explain it yourself?

Edit-I tried running mission mode by itself, I got the same error!

Re-Edit-OK, here's where things get really bloody complicated, I re-installed MM8BDM because my copy was off of Doomseeker, so after that, I loaded a few things up, set up the game again, and now I get a new error when I try to load, after I got a few of these working, I get the-

Ok, yeah, this is driving me up a wall, IT JUST WENT BACK TO THE ORIGINAL ERROR! ARRGH!

And no, I didn't get a screenshot of the new error.

I don't recall seeing any rules when I was signing up, I already had one of my posts edited for containing foul language because I didn't know this was a forum that banned such words.(I'm used to forums that permit foul language), I'd really only suggest that the forum rules just be made a universal important topic.

Forgive me for bumping this thread, but I absolutely NEED to figure out how to fix this problem or else I can't test out my map, and if I can't test it, I can't continue with the map, I need it fixed before I lose interest or the map will be doomed.

It still gives me the same error, I also tried adding the megagame wad, and it still didn't work.

I've been having problems lately getting Doom Builder 2 to run a map made for the Mission Mode for testing purposes, please note that I followed the guide on how to set up Doom Builder 2 and everything, if anyone can assist me, that'd be most helpful.

Also, here is a screencap of the problem.

Is this the correct place to put this?

I'm working on Wily's Castle 1 from Megaman 2, only issue is that I can't get into test mode so I can see if the Skybox is working properly.
Either way, here's a quick screencap.

And if anyone asks, I don't know how to program NPCs, so I wouldn't be expecting that god-forsaken dragon unless someone else is willing to step up.

I'm also not sure if I'll try and make it kind of stretch off from the original levels design because to be honest, the original wily's castle from 2 kind of...well, basic in design, but I'll see as I move on.

And one last note, I am NOT an experienced mapper, I did these for funs, this is my first ever actual map, so I'm hoping the guides here will help me a bit to make this a fully-fledged map.

Hope some of you like it.
