MM8BDM Discussion / Re: The Console
« on: October 14, 2010, 02:30:12 AM »
Are there any chasecam-related console things we can do?  I've been messing around with the console lately-I've been taking out the bosses using Rush Jet and various weapons not found in their arenas, and I was thinking of making a fun little video about the MM3 Robot Masters tussling with the bosses.  In the spirit of it not being all that serious, I'd like to use a chasecam on it-but I'd like the player characters not to obscure what's happening as much as they currently do (Hard Man blocks most of the center).  Is there a way I can extend the distance/height of the chasecame from the player character?

Having not played PC Shooters, my control setup is:

Mouselook
Movement: Arrow Keys
Shoot: Right Mouse Button
Jump:  Left Mouse Button
Weapon-Cycle: Mouse Wheel
Use Item: Mouse Wheel (Press)

Pretty much designed for simplicity.  Everything but the Arrow Keys is with the mouse.

Yes, when he goes into his "vulnerable" phase he can only be taken out by Rush Coiling into him and letting loose with a Top Spin (By the way, start spinning before you contact).

If you're having too much trouble getting far enough away from him to aim slightly above his head and making him walk into the shot, you could always try grabbing Rush Coil, wait for it to respawn, Rush Coil into him and launch a final shot, then quickly grab the Rush Coil and Top Spinning him.  I've never tried doing that, though-it's easier for me just to shoot him from the ground, as it gives me more time.

It's possible to hit him if you aim above his head-he'll walk into it.  You'll have to get pretty far away from him first, but you can see the head and above from the starting distance.

By the way, which weapon are you using to defeat him?  I'm using Atomic Fire.

While I realize that Air Man ga Taosenai has become popular enough to reach meme status...is Air Man really so difficult?  I find him the easiest Master in Mega Man 2 (Hard Mode), surpassing even Metal and Bubble Man in easiness with the Mega Buster.  I mean, all one really needs to do is shoot him until he dies.  No Leaf Shield required.

How do you get to the boss rush mode once you've completed the game?  It doesn't seem to be a single player option.

EDIT: Oh.  In that room next to Auto's.

...While Top Spin is my second favorite weapon in MM3 (3 guesses at my favorite based on the username) it wasn't THIS powerful.  It DID OHKO robots.  However...it didn't really OHKO Robot Masters, did it?  Even Shadow Man took multiple hits.

...I don't fight on land or at sea on Wave Man's.  I crash the boat into the pillar with Rush Jet and take the fight to the sky.  Fun.

...It'd be nice if there was some sort of mode where we had infinite Rush Jet or something.  Air Shooter and Whirling? Tomahawk would be more interesting and whatnot.  Gyro Man's stage seems to take that as an interesting idea, but the fans seem more like glitchy teleporters in function.

I was pretty sure you're supposed to just sit in one place spamming Hyper Bomb or Gravity Hold, but I guess I was wrong.
*hides a stack of Hyper Bombs and Crash Bombs*
*gets rid of his Gravity Hold*
Yeah...who plays like that?  Everyone knows that spamming OHKO weapons at a group of about 6-8 Megamen is not fair.
In Multiplayer, yes.  When you're in Crash Man's stage and the bots are spamming it like crazy and you can't save...

While quite a few of these ideas are broken, this one in particular strikes me as rather ridiculous.  Wind Storm does this normally.  This doesn't make it very easy for a Crash Man player to shoot when they're being bounced around everywhere.

Y'know, of all people, Yellow Devil is the one to play around with Hard Fist?  I'd think you'd have as much of an aversion to it as Thunder Beam.

MM8BDM Discussion / Re: What's your Custom MM8BDM Skin?
« on: October 02, 2010, 10:18:22 PM »
I'm not very familiar with Doom, but isn't there a Chase Cam somewhere in it that allows one to look at their character while playing as them?  Otherwise, it does indeed seem pointless to make your own skin; either few other people are going to download them and thus you're going to be quite original with your Mega Man appearance, or plenty download it and you won't be the only one playing as the skin.  And anyway, there are more than 50 characters to play as; while you won't be the only one playing as your selected Master, seeing duplicates should be rare (Unless, of course, you're playing as one of the more popular ones-in which case you can pick another if individuality is so important).

And to return to the first thing: is there a chase cam in MM8BDM, and if so, how does one activate it?
