Hey, I like literally just made an account here because I've been lurking around grabbing skins but I've never had much to say. But now I do, so here we are.
I think it's really cool that we got some Touhou skins going on. Funtimes. But something about them strikes me as off. Reimu's walk animation made me laugh because it looked silly, but in a good way. The others seem kind of...awkward more than amusing. In particular, Marisa's side walking animation (like, the diagonal ones that are based on Mega Man's actual walk animation from the games, I'm not good with technical terms) and Letty's animations in general seem kind of awkward and misshapen. I'm no spriter or artist, so I imagine making a sprite that looks nice when animated, especially with such little to work with, must be challenging, but man these look more than a little awkward, and it kind of bothers me.
It also kind of bothers me that everyone seems to randomly gain a buster when attacking. Plenty of Robot Masters throw weapons or do some kind of pose for shooting rather than using a buster/gun, why can't some of these characters have the same? Some sort of spellcard pose. They could be based on the poses they use in the fighting games, or just be a general "arm out" pose that at least makes it look like they're throwing/spawning the weapons rather than ham-handedly shoving a buster on them.
And I think out of all of the "shooting" sprites, Utsuho's is the one that made me stare at my screen and wonder, "Really?" The one Touhou character that actually HAS a buster-like weapon, and you give HER a pose rather than a "shooting" sprite?! And on top of that, it looks so awkward! Her finger is way longer than it should be, and I cannot unsee it as her flipping everyone off. It's funny, sure, but it's not really fitting.
I'm really sorry if this comes off as really naggy and whiny. I really like Touhou myself, so I'd like to make sure that these skins are the best they can be rather than just...well, "passable".
