Skins & Bots etc / M-308 Storm Gunner.
« on: December 15, 2010, 11:26:28 PM »
I started a project with another member on this site to port the battle armor from the obscure NES game, Metal Storm. Things were going well until weeks ago, when ultimately I lost contact with him.

The project calls to draw many new frames based on the in-game sprites from scratch, and as they are complex the task is somewhat daunting to take up alone.

As of now the only work I have done is for the majority of the forward-facing sprites. Other things that would need to be done are as follows:

+ 90-degree side animations. These will have to be done by scratch.
+ 135-degree rear-side animations. These can be done using front-side frames as reference.
+ 180-degree back animations. Once I fully complete the front frames, these can also be done using those as reference.

I will admit that I don't have the free time nor the sheer attention span to work on this project quickly, so there wouldn't be a time frame to work by per say, and I wouldn't be finished in a few days.

If anybody is interested in working on this project, then please let me know.

Also, sorry I didn't upload any sample frames or anything, but I really would like to maintain control over my own part of this project unless coordinating with somebody who is serious about the project.

You should be. This is very, very nice stuff. I aspire to become as good as this.

Did it come..."natural" to you, or did it require practice?

It's all based on what I can actually manage to write down out of the random and sporadic melodies that come to my head.

I started around four years ago. But it took at least a year and a half before I could actually write harmonies and chords.

And I'm still plagued by instrumentation methods . . . most of my songs consist of mostly rudimentary instruments. =[

I wouldn't believe you have. I'm not popular on any community in the slightest.

Here's a recent contemporary work of mine.

You can find more of my stuff on that site in MP3 format.

I have even more, though, in their original NSF file forms, which can be found here.

You'll have to get a program like VirtuaNSF or download some plugin to play them.

Any feedback is appreciated highly.

My typical alias is "Zero_V2."

For now I'm using Gyro Man.

Off-topic:

If I could, I would give you a big fat hug right now, Zero. Metal Storm is like the greatest shit ever. God I love that game. So glad to see someone else who likes it. M-308 Gunner for the win!

I made a Let's Play of that game, actually. It's been on hiatus for God knows how many months, though.

We should, like . . .

Make a skin for MM8BD.

I was wondering. Is it possible at all to mirror the first person sprites to render it on the other side?
